They worked the entire day. It was already evening when Wu Peng and Ye Wei returned to the law enforcers’ base.

After a series of heated battles, even Wu Peng felt worn out.

But then he remembered that Ye Wei had promised to go out with him on a date, and he immediately became more energetic.

After he waited for Ye Wei to finish up her work, Wu Peng immediately shifted in front of her and gave her a wide smile.

Ye Wei rolled her eyes at him. “It’s been a tiring day. You should return to your shelter and get some rest.”

“Let’s not do that. Didn’t you agree that you would go on a date with me if I saved your teammates?”

“You sure remember that well.”

Ye Wei lazily leaned back in her chair. She propped her slender legs up on the table and closed her eyes.

Wu Peng waited for her to continue. He didn’t expect to hear her snoring a few minutes later. He walked closer and realized that Ye Wei had fallen asleep.

Even though he hadn’t gotten a satisfactory reply, Wu Peng couldn’t bear to disrupt her rest, so he turned around and prepared to leave.

When he reached the door, Ye Wei’s lazy voice suddenly came from behind him: “Come and look for me tomorrow afternoon.”

“All right!” Wu Peng replied, and quickly left the law enforcers’ base.

He hummed a little tune all the way home. As soon as he opened the front door, he saw Elsa standing there, a concerned expression on her face.

“I’m sorry. A lot of things happened today. I made you worry.”

Elsa felt a huge weight lift off her chest when she saw that Wu Peng wasn’t injured. She quickly got Wu Peng to have his meal.

After dinner, Elsa curiously asked Wu Peng what he’d been up to.

Wu Peng told Elsa about how he had encountered Viper, as well as the photo of her and her family he’d seen in Viper’s hideout.

“Viper is searching everywhere for the fragments of the meteorite. They even brutally killed a family of three recently. I guess they murdered them for the crystallized meteorite.”

Wu Peng saw that Elsa looked sad at the mention of her pitiful past, so he quickly changed the topic.

“You have to help me pick out an outfit after dinner. I have an important event tomorrow.”

Elsa saw how elated he looked and couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity, “What important event are you so happy about?”

“As a girl, you should know what girls like a man to wear, so you have to pick out a good outfit for me.”

“I’m going to do the dishes.”

Elsa stood up, expressionless. She picked up the bowls and headed into the kitchen.

Wu Peng felt that her tone was a bit cold, and thought that she was still hung up over her parents.

He took out all of his clothes from his closet and started trying them on one by one. However, he couldn’t find anything that showed off his masculine charm.

He’d never been so frustrated over what to wear before. He usually put on anything as long as it wasn’t too dirty or tattered.

Seeing that Elsa had finally come out of the kitchen after doing the dishes, Wu Peng quickly dragged her over to the clothes to get her opinion.

“Good sister, hurry and help me. Picking out clothes is harder than fighting a war.”

Elsa pouted and said reluctantly, “I think you look good in whatever you wear.”

“You little imp. Why are you so downcast? Could it be that you’re jealous?”

Wu Peng intended it as a joke. He didn’t expect Elsa to turn red from the neck up. She sprinted into the room and locked the door.

“Did I hit the nail on the head? No, that can’t be it. We only just met a few days ago.”

Wu Peng scratched his head, a little confused. However, he soon turned back around, agonizing over what to wear.

The next day, Wu Peng opened his eyes and felt his heart thump when he thought about how he was going to attend the first date of his life.

He accessed the points interface as usual and realized that he had gained 1000 points.

After giving it some thought, Wu Peng decided to use these points to upgrade the shelter’s defensive systems.

His conflict with Viper was becoming more and more intense. He wasn’t afraid, but Elsa was still on Viper’s list.

He would regret it if Viper charged into the shelter and injured Elsa while he was out.

He accessed the attribute panel of the shelter and chose the option to upgrade the shelter’s defenses. The instant his 1000 points disappeared, a flash of white light shone within the shelter.

The white light dissipated. The walls of the shelter had transformed from steel to a powerful metal alloy, and the door had changed from a three-inch-thick slab of stainless steel to a five-inch-thick slab of an alloyed material.

Furthermore, when attacked from the outside, the door would release a high-voltage current.

Pleased, Wu Peng nodded when he saw the upgraded shelter.

This time, Viper wouldn’t be able to penetrate his shelter, even if they sent an armored vehicle.

The modification of the shelter jolted Elsa awake. She rubbed her eyes and ran to the living room to see what was going on.

Wu Peng explained it away by saying that there might have been an earthquake.

After breakfast, Wu Peng started concentrating on getting dressed up. He wanted to win over Ye Wei on their date this afternoon.

Elsa pouted as she looked on from the side. She was very unhappy.

During the afternoon, Wu Peng rushed to the law enforcers’ base.

The law enforcers, who were now very familiar with Wu Peng, gave him strange looks.

“Wu Peng, why do you smell weird today?”

“What do you know? This is cologne! I made it myself!” Wu Peng couldn’t be bothered arguing with this bunch of crude men and went straight to Ye Wei’s office.

He saw Ye Wei concentrating in front of the computer. She was looking through the information they’d gathered yesterday.

“Cough, cough! Miss Ye, I’m here to invite you to a wonderful afternoon out.”

Ye Wei turned her head and glanced at Wu Peng, then uttered an emotionless, “Wait a moment.”

She then continued reading the information on her computer.

Wu Peng was a little unhappy at experiencing such a setback. However, he then considered that this might be a test set by Ye Wei. She might cancel their date if he showed his displeasure.

“Hehe, you want to pull this kind of stunt with me? I’m brimming with positivity today!” Wu Peng thought to himself.

Wu Peng found a chair and started to wait silently.

An hour later, Ye Wei stood up and rubbed her red eyes.

“Are you restless from waiting?”

Wu Peng immediately stood up and replied with his brightest voice, “Absolutely not!”

“Sigh, then let’s go. The government recently opened a commercial shelter. Let’s go have a look.”

Ye Wei thought that Wu Peng’s fervent attitude was rather amusing, but she suppressed her desire to smile.

She took Wu Peng out of the office, and they went to a room labeled “lounge.” Ye Wei got Wu Peng to wait outside the door.

Sometime later, Ye Wei walked out of the lounge, and Wu Peng’s eyes lit up.

This was the first time he’d seen Ye Wei in something other than her law enforcer uniform.

She’d only changed into ordinary casual wear—a white T-shirt paired with jeans and low top shoes—but it couldn’t hide Ye Wei’s toned physique or soften her demeanor.

Then, Ye Wei brought Wu Peng over to the underground traffic network of the shelter, and they took the train over to the newly built commercial shelter.

All of the official shelters were connected underground. They could travel to any of the official shelters in Jiang City by train.

A little more than ten minutes later, the two of them arrived at the commercial shelter.

They passed through a security check and arrived in front of an alloyed door. Ye Wei took out her law enforcer ID and tapped it on the door.

The door slowly opened.
