“You sure gained big this time. The commercial shelter is in its test phase, and only some of the personnel from the official shelters can enter it.”

Ye Wei shot Wu Peng a mischievous look. She wanted to see how he would react.

“It’s my honor to be here, but I’ll still give constructive criticism if I see anything that needs to be improved.”

Wu Peng would never fall for Ye Wei’s words. It was impossible to shatter his confidence.

Ye Wei was dumbfounded. She had expected Wu Peng to be a little nervous on their date, but now it seemed that Wu Peng didn’t even know what nervousness was.

The two of them entered through the door and were immediately greeted with a bustling scene. The shelter hadn’t been fully completed yet.

However, there were troves of people, a variety of incandescent neon signboards, as well as a myriad of items behind transparent shopping displays. It was an assault on their senses.

Ye Wei thought back to how much she had loved shopping with her parents when she was young, and the corners of her eyes became slightly wet.

Unfortunately, there was no chance of that happening again in this post-apocalyptic world.

Everything before her eyes made her a little melancholic. She couldn’t help but remember the past.

Wu Peng was also a little overcome with emotion. Even though the commercial shelter wasn’t as opulent as the shopping malls of the past, being able to build the shelter showed just how dedicated humans were to making a better life for themselves.

The two of them walked down the clean pathway side by side and frequently stopped in front of the shops.

Even though Ye Wei was the captain of the law enforcement unit, she was also a 25-year-old lady.

Shopping aroused her natural womanly instincts. She constantly ran around and browsed through the stores.

Wu Peng wanted to get her a present, but he hadn’t brought any money with him.

Furthermore, the currency used here was completely different from that used in the past.

Ye Wei finally felt a little tired after shopping for two hours and suggested that they find a place to grab a bite to eat.

They came to a small restaurant. There weren’t many items on the menu, but it was better than nothing.

Just as the two of them were waiting for their food, a little girl, who was about seven or eight years old, ran over to them.

“Sister, you are very pretty! Big brother, why don’t you buy a flower for this beautiful sister?”

As she said this, the young girl took out a red rose from the basket she was carrying.

Wu Peng was shocked. “They sell flowers here?” he thought. Even rations were severely scarce.

However, after taking a closer look at it, he realized she was holding a plastic flower.

He turned to Ye Wei and saw that she was looking at him with a faint smile on her face. Wu Peng steeled his nerves and asked, “How much are the flowers, little girl?”

“Ten points.”

“Ten points? Ten points of what?” Wu Peng thought, very confused.

Seeing that Wu Peng was confused and had fallen silent, the little girl pouted and said, “So you’re a non-contributor, Big Brother. How embarrassing!”

Wu Peng felt disgraced when he suddenly got mocked by the little girl, and he looked at Ye Wei.

Ye Wei smiled as she stroked the little girl’s head. “This big brother is a fool. I’ll buy the flower.”

After saying this, she took out her phone and scanned the plaque hanging around the little girl’s chest.

The little girl also took out her phone and looked at the screen. Then, she happily handed Ye Wei a flower, made an ugly face at Wu Peng, and ran off.

“The currency used by official shelters are contribution points. Contribution points are a reward for having made a contribution. If you have no contribution points, it means that you’ve never contributed to the official shelter, so people will naturally look down on you for that.”

Ye Wei played with the plastic flower in her hands as she explained the situation to Wu Peng.

Wu Peng blinked. He grabbed the flower from her and said, “Captain Ye, I’ve done many things for the law enforcers. Can’t I get ten contribution points for my contribution?”

Ye Wei knew what he was getting at, and covered her mouth and laughed. “I know. I’ll consider this flower a gift from you.”

It was really easy talking to someone who was intelligent. Wu Peng handed the flower to Ye Wei with both hands. The latter fetched the flower from him, and both of them laughed.

Their dishes were served. The two of them chatted as they ate, and the atmosphere became increasingly relaxed and jovial between them.

After their meal, the two of them continued strolling along the street.

Suddenly, Wu Peng saw a board with the word “cinema” written on it far away.

“To think that there’s a cinema here!” he thought.

This place had all the classic date locations.

Amusement parks, restaurants, and cinemas were the three classic places couples had gone to for dates before the apocalypse.

Ye Wei was also interested in catching a movie, and the two of them immediately ran into the cinema.

There weren’t any new movies. All that was left were a few classics.

Wu Peng wanted to choose a romantic film, but Ye Wei had immediately taken a fancy to a war film.

That definitely fit in with Ye Wei’s personality.

Ye Wei was the one to purchase the tickets.

Wu Peng saw the strange look the cashier was giving him and decided that he would earn a few contribution points before their next date.

The two of them were just about to enter the cinema when Ye Wei’s phone rang.

Ye Wei’s expression gradually turned stern after receiving the call.

Ye Wei hung up the call. She tightly knitted her brow and said in a grave tone, “There was a large-scale battle near where the meteorite landed. The law enforcers suffered heavy casualties, and many of the meteorite fragments were snatched away.”

“It must be Viper.” Wu Peng was sure of this.

“No matter who it is, we have to immediately reinforce the law enforcers.”

Ye Wei glanced at the tickets in her hands, then threw them into the bin.

If Ye Wei was leaving, Wu Peng definitely wasn’t going to watch the movie alone without her. He immediately followed behind her and rushed to the scene.

The two of them rode the train back to the law enforcers’ base.

All of the law enforcers in the base had headed over to the scene to provide support. Ye Wei immediately changed into her uniform and grabbed her weapon.

Wu Peng still didn’t have a weapon on him. Who would bring an AK-47 on a date?

Ye Wei knew how powerful Wu Peng was. She immediately used her authority as captain to get him a new rifle.

“This gun doesn’t need an identity authorization, but you have to return it to me when we get back.”

Wu Peng put the rifle on his back. He didn’t hold back and picked up five grenades and five stun grenades along with the gun.

After they armed themselves, Ye Wei drove, and they rushed to the scene.

On the way there, Wu Peng took out his phone and connected it to the Bird scouting drone. He steered the drone to the scene so he could scout the area before they arrived.

The situation was extremely chaotic. The law enforcers were hiding behind a small hill, and on the other side, in a low-lying piece of land two hundred meters away, people from Viper were manically unloading their clips at the law enforcers.

Wu Peng decided not to tell Ye Wei about the situation for the time being, as he was afraid that she would become too anxious.

The two of them finally reached the scene after driving at full speed for half an hour.

By the time they arrived, the gunfire had already stopped.

After getting out of the car, Ye Wei immediately issued orders through her wireless communication and got the uninjured law enforcers to save the wounded.

Wu Peng scouted the enemy by steering the Bird.

The members of Viper were already in retreat. They had sent out an armored vehicle this time and were quickly retreating.

Wu Peng guessed that Viper had accomplished their goal this time. He couldn’t let them escape like this.

“Ye Wei! The members of Viper are already fleeing. We can’t let them get away like this. I’m going to chase after them!”

Ye Wei immediately stopped him after hearing what he said. “Chasing after them is my mission. Let’s go together!”

She pulled Wu Peng along and sprinted up to the armored vehicle. After they got inside, she slammed her foot down on the accelerator, and the armored vehicle let out a rumble before charging forward.
