Chapter 83:Giving Meaning to Everything

"So," Veon broke the silence. "Tyler has been here for quite some time already," he asked and Sheloah nodded.

"When he arrived here, he was hurt so I did my best to treat him," she said and Veon sighed.

"It's because of your stubbornness," Veon commented and Sheloah pouted at him. "Because of your actions, people get dragged in with you," he added and Sheloah felt ashamed as she looked at the floor.

She thought that what Veon said was right. If it weren't for her decision, none of this wouldn't have happened. Tyler wouldn't have been hurt, and Veon wouldn't have been here and would have been recuperating instead.

'If I didn't go, I wouldn't have met Shannara, right? And… Veon wouldn't have met her again, either…'

Sheloah was quite surprised to what she had thought of so she slapped herself out of the blue, surprising the three people with her. She didn't want to have such thoughts so she impulsively hurt herself to wake her up.

Veon took Sheloah's hands, making her stop hitting herself. Sheloah looked at him, then he spoke. "Didn't you know that some people were worried sick about you? Especially your uncle! It was a good thing he decided not to tell your mother," he said and Sheloah now looked very guilty.

"I'm sorry… it won't happen again," Sheloah apologized then Veon smiled at her sweetly. He knew that he had scolded her enough.

"Don't just say it. Do it," Veon said and Sheloah slightly laughed at him.

Shannara just watched the two sharing a moment with each other. She felt rather jealous to have seen this level of interaction. She had always longed to experience this with Veon ever since she fell in love with him. But to see him act like this with another girl, right in front of her? This was really a shocker for her!

"Ahem."

Shannara called both of their attention and they looked at her, with Sheloah feeling more embarrassed than usual.

"I'm still here," Shannara said sarcastically and Sheloah felt sorry for ignoring her.

"Shan." Veon suddenly called out her name and Sheloah felt a pang of pain in her chest when she felt familiarity in his voice. "So you moved here to Pangasinan since you left Baguio," he added and Shannara nodded at him as her answer.

"Yes. And the zombie apocalypse brought us into meeting each other again. How ironic, isn't it," she said and Veon smiled at her.

"Yeah. I also noticed that you're still wearing it. The necklace I gave you the day before you left," Veon said and Shannara smiled sweetly as she held the necklace with adoration laced in her eyes.

"Nothing changed through the years, I see. You're still giving meaning to everything." Shannara then pouted at him when she heard Veon's reply.

"Ah, whatever!" Shannara suddenly walked towards Veon as she gave him another embrace, making Sheloah's eyes double in size. "I'm just happy that after a few years, we met each other again!" Veon smiled and then he returned her hug, making Shannara's heart skip a beat.

'He returned my hug!'

Sheloah just smiled at the scene in front of her, thinking that it was okay giving them space for themselves. They have not met for quite a long time so she convinced herself that it was okay for them to share a moment.
