Chapter 97:For Josh

Sheloah took a deep breath and released it. Sheloah's throat hurt from all the shouting and crying but still she sang for Josh.

Oh take a look in the mirror you look so sad

It's so cold like that winter market we used to go

I don't cry anymore but I feel so hurt

So I don't need you too close to me

You don't hear me so you said

"I don't know why things have changed since yesterday."

In this stanza, people who knew Josh well, understood that this was what Josh had been feeling all along. It was his message for Dannie, where he felt like he was being pushed away.

This could be love again

All I need is you

Come back, I'm waiting anytime

The heavy rains come

Still I miss days with you

I can't look into your face

Oh feeling blue and looking back again

Please come back to me

When Sheloah sang the chorus, Dannie cried again as she now fully understood how Josh really felt; his feelings towards her.

"Josh, I'm so sorry…"

Dannie now held his hand tight as Sheloah continued singing.

To stay with you always

You are the world to me and dreaming on

So you can take my soul for you

You are the world to me and dream on

You stole my heart so long ago

Oh I release my soul so you feel my song

When Sheloah sang the last part of the song, Dannie embraced Josh's body as she cried uncontrollably on his shoulder.

Dannie felt regret when she realized how utterly genuine Josh's feelings were towards her. She realized how it might've felt painful for Josh to be led on and now that they were in this predicament, Dannie realized at the last minute how she actually cared for him.

Josh is gone… he's really gone. It broke their hearts, but the memories, they know, it will still remain.

Everyone became silent as they started praying for Josh as a group. After a while, the students one by one entered the bus and only Sheloah, Veon, Isobel, Tyler, and Shannara were left behind to take one last look at Josh.

"We are made from broken parts. We are broken from the start," Tyler whispered and it was enough for the others to hear.

Love is truly amazing. He had sacrificed his life, gave his soul like the song, for the person he truly loved.

From what Tyler had said, Sheloah understood what he meant.

At the start, everyone was already broken. Now that Josh had left their lives, it had made them more broken; like it was now impossible for them to be fixed again. Without him, everything seemed so incomplete.

They are indeed broken from the start.
