Chapter 121:I Will Save You

"Remember when Sheloah was in the hospital," Isobel asked and Veon looked at her, recalling the incident.

"When Sheloah was hit by the water's pressure when the fire truck's hose opened during our school activity? Yeah… it made her eye bleed," he said and he shuddered when he remembered.

"You visited her, remember? You even gave her fruits," Isobel said as she squinted her eyes at Veon. "You weren't this involved with a girl ever. Doesn't it have a meaning? Sheloah has gotten a lot of your firsts when it comes to interacting with a girl," she added and Veon sighed.

"She's just a friend, Isobel."

"Really, Veon?" Isobel found it difficult to believe.

"Tsk."

Why can't people just believe what he says? He sees Sheloah as a friend but his friends always thought otherwise. They always thought that he had genuine feelings towards her.

"Is she just really a friend? I mean… you always have late night talks. You always do video chat in FB and you guys sleep at 4AM, knowing that there's school afterwards. Then you always walk home together. You even give her your jacket! You're stingy when it comes to your favorite cookies but you comfortably give her some! I know everything, Veon! You do these, yet you still claim that you see her as a friend?"

Veon could not answer.

"I don't know."

Isobel sighed and shrugged.

"You love her."

"Shut up."

Isobel stood up and she rolled her eyes at Veon. "Whatever. If you keep denying these feelings, you may lose the chance to tell her. I'm not saying that it might happen but considering the situation now, what if she's really gone?"

"Why do you keep insisting that I like her? It's so irritating as hell!" Veon couldn't hold it in any longer as he stood up in anger.

"I'm just saying it because everyone thinks so, too. It's impossible for you to treat the other girls the same way. We're friends, but the treatment is different," she said and Veon mumbled to himself.

"She's different."

It was enough for Isobel to hear him. "She is... because she has a special place in your heart," she said and Veon looked at her. "Don't deny love. It'll only keep hitting you," she added then she held the doorknob of the door, preparing to leave. "You may never know what would happen in the future."

But what is causing him to feel this way? He was not like this but ever since he met Sheloah, he experienced and felt new things.

It made him wonder if he really loved Sheloah.

Veon at this point could no longer understand himself. He found this new part of him confusing and irritating at the same time. They say that you know yourself best but ever since Sheloah had entered his life, it's as if he didn't know himself at all.

But he admitted to himself, though… that ever since Sheloah disappeared, he had been feeling pained and worried like he was walking in hell.

'Just you wait, Sheloah… I will save you.'
