Chapter 127:Let's Rest

Veon kept debating in his thoughts.

Is it considered a sin to kill a person in this kind of situation? No one is watching them, anyway. There are no longer laws and rules to follow. But still, of course, the concept of morality would always be there. Even if there are no longer people watching over you, even if there are no longer rules and laws to follow, the conscience play a big role on a person's thinking.

The old man who killed his family is considered a sin. Sir Jim who killed his co-teacher for survival is considered a sin. Now how about Veon who killed his zombie parents in order to protect Sheloah?

Is that considered a sin?

Does everything in this current situation need to revolve around violence? Isn't there another way? Will there be an end to this?

Veon stood up as he looked at his comrades. They all fixed their composure before they decided to continue on with their plan. Their utmost goal right now is to live and to get Sheloah back.

Veon took a deep breath and released it. He looked at everyone seriously before he spoke. "We need to come up with a plan."

Tyler nodded. "Once we leave this place, we need to use a grenade for us to escape. There would be a big crowd of zombies outside, I'm sure."

Shannara raised her hand. "I'll throw the grenade. I'm faster than any of you guys. We have to make a barricade here for protection so that we won't get affected by the explosion," she suggested and everyone nodded, agreeing with her suggestion.

The boys pushed the couch against the door. They also carried the wooden dining table from the kitchen and they also put it alongside the couch for them to use it as a barricade. Once they have set it up, Veon, Dannie, and Tyler hid behind it as Shannara prepared herself in front of the main door. She looked at the three behind the barricade, telling them to prepare.

"I'll throw it now."

Shannara quickly opened the door and they were flabbergasted to have seen a horde of zombies outside. She quickly pulled the clip and threw it towards the zombies. The moment she threw it, she ran as fast as she could and hid behind Tyler and Veon.

They heard the explosion of the grenade. They went almost deaf for a few seconds and they were all coughing due to the smoke and dust that was present in their surroundings. After a few minutes, they all stood up slowly to check their surroundings and found out that it was already safe to go.

"Dannie, where's the house," Veon asked, making Dannie the lead already since she was the only person who knew where the house is located.

"We might be there in 40 minutes. It's just up ahead," she answered and everyone ran the moment Dannie took the lead.

They were running non-stop for five minutes and this made everyone tired.

"Let's rest," Isobel suggested and they all stopped near a big tree. They all sat down as they rested under the shade of the tree, catching their breaths.

"I'll just go look for water. I'm quite familiar of this place so don't worry," Dannie said and she walked off looking for water with Tyler.

Isobel rested her back on the tree's trunk. "I'll just have a power nap," she said and she closed her eyes, thankful to have a little time for rest.
