189 An Unexpected Meeting, An Odd Proposition

Name:Ascenders Rift Author:ShadowsFinger
Within a region surrounded by a myriad of corpses belonging to monsters, a blood-red rift could be seen, swirling as it rested at the center of this corpse sea. If one looked around, they would notice that air here had a dark vibe as if something was most unpleasant about it.

Soon though, this air had slowly begun to recede until finally, the rift had transitioned from the glowing red to more of a bright blue hue.

Not long after, the scene here returned to normal, as if nothing was odd about it, the only thing that made it even remotely close to its previous grim-like state were the corpses of the monsters hat littered the lush earth.

Moments after, the rift had a few ripples as three individuals walked out, their figures shrouded by a series of white lights before it returned to normal.

Looking at each of them, one would notice that one as a young man with a mohawk and two giant spiky hammers. A slim female that wore a decorated mask held two blood-red daggers stood nearby, and the last of them was a bony looking man with a similar mask that had a skull design covering his face, his eyes staring around them as he played with a long needle.

"Huhu... it seems that they have yet to fade, these corpses should do just nicely as playthings," Baldwin said in a strange tone as his eyes shone in a perverse light.

Ruth gave him a look of disgust as she spoke, "Humph! I see you're disgusting as always..."

"Huhu..." Baldwin chuckled, not saying anything as he made his way over to the corpses.

As if he didn't notice the two of their discussions, Thorkel had an angry look over his face as he slammed his hammer onto the ground creating a crater on the earth.

Thorkel then cursed out loud, "Dammit! I wanted the last drop; he just had to go and take it for himself!'

Ruth gave Thorkel and look and sneered, "Hehe, what are you saying? Could you have even face that giant by yourself? Just one swing of that club, and you would have been meat paste. You should be grateful that Team Leader Zero had actually shared the loot from killing it."

Thorkel didn't back down, he argued, "Tch! Like hell it is, he wouldn't have even been able to touch it if it weren't for..."

Thorkel was about to say something, but right at this time, the portal rippled again as Zero walked out. His appearance as mysterious as ever, with short white hair in a white uniform with a white mask covering his face.

Looking beyond his mask, one would notice that his two dead-looking eyes that seemed no different from a soulless being, didn't even flicker at their words, as if he was no different from a machine.

"Let's go," Zero

Thorkel bit his lips as he saw this and followed along while he cursed under his breath, "Damn machine-like bastard..."

Ruth seemed to have heard his words; she giggled, not saying anything as she started to follow behind him.

Baldwin said nothing; he placed a few corpses into his storage space with an odd smile on his face as he quietly moved with the group, and hummed in a spooky tune. Soon, they had each left this area, but right before they began their rapid movement travel, there was a change.

An odd power filled the area as a brilliant light illuminated all of this area, causing not only Baldwin, Ruth, and Thorkel, but even the indifferent Zero, to narrow his eyes and stare at it.

After a short while, these holy lights faded by a section, as a tall and handsome dark blue aired man with a straight nose, straight face, garbed in a white and blue royalty suit had appeared out of nothingness.

His eyes that hid bellow his hair gave one a feeling profoundness, and sly intent, as his entire being felt strange almost enigmatic.

Ruth, Baldwin, and Thorkel each seemed to knew who this person was; they hurriedly kneeled and spoke in a greeting, "We greet His Majesty Erickson IV!"

Zero, who seemed to have no emotions, bowed at a slight angle, Elumar noting this smirked and spoke as he waved his hand, "Please, do stand tall, here isn't the palace, there's no need for such formalities, calling me Elumar will do just fine."

Ruth and the others felt a bit pressured, though they had joined RADA, they knew that the person before them was a strange existence, one that even the true mastermind behind RADA was not capable of dealing with so easily.

They each looked at Zero, who showed no excessive amount of respect to Elumar as he stared at him silently as if waiting on him to explain himself.

'Sheesh, can't this guy act with a little more tact?' Ruth complained inwardly as she saw his manner; the others merely shook their heads as if they shared her thoughts.

Elumar obviously noticed Zero's gaze; he stared at him intently as a smile rose at the corners of his lips when he spoke, "I won't beat around the bush, I will get straight to point. I've noticed that you've all gotten quite stronger, it seems that the Lead Rift Supervisor has sent you all to a very fortunate place, but... while it's true that he might be acting in your interests, have you ever thought about what would happen once you've all fulfilled your roles?"

Zero eyes showed no change, but the faces of Ruth, Baldwin, and Thorkel sunk as if they didn't think of it before, now that they heard it from Elumar, they gulped knowing full well of RADA's means.

"C-could they possibly try to erase us? Aren't they willing to add us to the Heavenly Army? I mean, After all, that is the purpose of this entire thing, to recruit more warriors for the Celestial Domain," Thorkel asked hesitantly.

Baldwin and Ruth looked on closely, their eyes now showing a bit of complexity.

Elumar made a sly smirk and spoke again, "What do you think? You, as their mere human aids, are only told of a small part of their true agendas. Once you arrive at the Myriad Ascension World after the final Rift Calamity World, it's only natural that they will remove the unneeded hands, having completed their real objectives."

Ruth, Baldwin, and Thorkel became filled with a look of panic, as they spoke separately.

"This, then what do we do?" Ruth said in a hurry.

"I can't allow myself to be treated like some pawn!" Thorkel complained with an angry look on his face.

"Blast! How did this happen?" Baldwin cursed with his eyes showing a fierce look.

Elumar's eyes flashed in an unusual blue light, as his sly smile grew even more, he looked at Zero and saw that there was no emotion even now, he thought to himself, 'Oh... you've already been soul suppressed, but don't worry, I have ways around it.'

Having thought to here, Elumar looked at everyone and spoke once more, "Don't panic, I have come here with a simple solution... this is a method that can solve all of your issues, and not only accomplish that but push you all towards a new brighter future."

Ruth, Baldwin, and Thorkel were a bit surprised by his words; they looked at him gravely, not knowing what to say, but it was at this time, the previously quiet and emotionless Zero spoke, "How so?"

The others looked at him in shock, as they thought that out of everyone here, he was the most loyal to RADA. Elumar's smile grew wider as if everything as falling into place, he stretched his palm forward as if casing for a handshake as he looked at Zero and company as he spoke, "Take my hand, and I will show you all a new path..."

The air here taking on a new shift, as if the strange change was occurring, one that not even Evan himself, could have predicted...
