206 The Chaos at Checkpoint 01, Overwhelming Power

Name:Ascenders Rift Author:ShadowsFinger
The scene at Checkpoint 01 was a scene like none before it, a carnage of an extremely high degree. There were bodies scattered about the area, many of them seeming to be lifeless and dried up as if something had sucked away their blood as others had many black spikes plunged into them from all sides.

Currently, a few wailing sounds resounded as another group of mosquitos cornered an Evolver that tried to fight back against them. They instantly closed the gap and stabbed their proboscis into his body.

"Uaaahhhh!" The Evolver made a tragic cry as he struck out a death blow that erupted a strange power that caused two of the mosquitos to explode.

However, his body rapidly grew skinny and pale until he fell limp, becoming nothing more than a dried corpse.

Another scene played out a bit differently as two Evolver ran from a series of giant bees; the bees aimed their stingers at their bodies, firing a rain of black needles than instantly impaled them to death.

When Evan's and Leo's party arrived here, they looked around at the hell-like scene with dark looks on their faces, as Leo's group felt it even more as these were their kinsman.

"Darn insects!" Leo cursed in anger, his body blazing with a raging flame.

"I haven't fought with the bastards in a long time; I really hate these darn insects even more so that those Body Shifters..." Razel said with hate in his eyes as he saw the dried up corpses and impaled dead bodies.

"We cannot let this continue; let's act now," Julie said as if she couldn't bear the sight or sounds of others screaming.

Oron and Irene also shared these thoughts, as Leo nodded prepared to give the command for them to move, but Evan looked at them and spoke, "Wait..."

When Leo and the others heard this, they gave Evan a look, wondering why he stopped them, Evan looked at them and replied, "Let us first pinpoint the location of the strongest amongst them,"

Leo nodded his head and cooled his flames, Evan then looked at Breya, who was holding her scanning device. She pressed a button as an invisible ripple spread out far and wide when the screen began to beep with different lights.

The brightest light sources were currently at the center of Checkpoint 01, totaling four spots of lights at the center of an over a few hundred small lights scattered about the area.

Breya then spoke, "There are two big fellows at the center, I can't precisely tell how strong they are, but based on their energy readings they should be comparable to those High Elders of the Body Shifters. As for everyone else, they are only the typical mosquito and bee type insects."

Leo's face sunk as he heard comparable to the High Elders, he looked at Breya and spoke, "Darn, to think that they could just enter our domain and casually send out two that strong. This isn't good at all..."

"Haha, such fine exp couldn't have been timelier," Joe said in a somewhat light-hearted manner, his eyes shining with a reddish ray.

Evan chuckled and spoke, "Indeed it is..."

Leo's party gave Evan and the others an odd look. However, Evan didn't seem to pay it any mind; he glanced at them and spoke, "Well, there you guys have it, we'll be taking care of those two, they aren't moving from the center of the Checkpoint so you can act as freely as you want elsewhere, just be careful and try not to get surrounded."

Leo and the others nodded as they heard this, Leo then replied, "Understood, we're heading off now, so be careful."

Not wasting another moment, Leo and the others disappeared due to their speeds as they charged towards the different areas and began to annihilate the giant bees and mosquitoes.

Evan watched them leave before he looked at Joe and the others and nodded, soon their party had vanished as they bolted towards the center of the Checkpoint with unstoppable momentum, crushing anything that came into their path.

***

At the center of the Checkpoint, one would notice a scene where giant bees and mosquitoes assembled a mountain of Evolver corpses.

Two unique looking humanoids sat in the air while their wings flapped as they observed the proceedings as if on vacation, one being a male with red and black skin along with arms and legs of bugs. While the other wore patterned bee armor with a long stinger behind his buttocks.

"Haha, these humans, so weak without their weapons, we didn't even need to try hard after those vermin took care of them," The Bee General said with a smile as he chewed on a human's hand.

"Huhu... it's to be expected, they did turtle themselves in this place for over a dozen years, how would they have a chance against our army?" The Mosquito General said as he drank a human's blood.

They each continued to laugh and chatter, but as if something was heard. They each tilted their head towards that direction, noticing that an outside party had unknowingly arrived.

"Huh? I didn't think that any surviving humans would still have such guts to appear in our sights after witnessing what just happened..." The Mosquito General said in surprise.

"Huhu... they must be the foolish ones, coming here will confirm one thing, their inevitable death..." The Bee General mocked with sinister eyes.

At this moment, each of the general's bodies had erupted with sinister battle energy as they planned to take the humans down without a single sign of hesitation.

Eventually, Evan and the others had halted their steps a few meters away from them; their eyes were fixed onto the mountain of corpses as a vast amount of anger was visible on their faces.

"Bastards!" Joe exclaimed in a rage as this was his first time seeing such a slaughter of their kind.

"We cannot let a single one of them leave this place alive..." Rick said in a cold tone.

"Right, they must all perish here," Layla said with an uncommonly brutal look on her gorgeous face.

Emilia and Breya also felt the same; their battle intent was also rising as they started to gather energy.

Evan's eyes flashed as he stared at the Bee General and spoke to the party, "I'll take that one down, the others are for the rest of you..."

Layla and the others nodded as immediately after his words; Evan had vanished. In the blink of an eye, he had arrived before the Bee General and kicked its stomach, causing it to fall back by a few dozen meters before even noticing what happened.

"Damn human, you dare to sneak up on us? Die!" The Mosquito General shouted in alarm as its partner was repelled, with incredible speeds its arm clawed towards Evan's position.

Yet, even this seemed fruitless as Evan's body swayed and blurred easily, avoiding the attack as he charged towards the repelled Bee General at high speeds.

The Mosquito General waned to attack him, as its body erupted with blood-red energies that sent ripples into the air. But sadly, Joe and the others had cornered it from all angles.

Rick's spear was even the first to attack as it struck towards its head at hardly observable speeds. The Mosquito General narrowed its bug-like eyes and flapped its wings faster, causing its body to shift about in a series of flashes as it left remnant shades.

Rick's spear blurred as it only cut the afterimages, narrowly missing it with each strike, but as if he didn't care, he smirked and spoke, "Your back is unguarded..."

"What?" The mosquito general didn't get what Rick said, but as if it was already too late, a harmful intent came from behind him before a cold voice sounded.

"Light Wave!" A bright beam of semi-purple lights blasted towards its body before it exploded on the Mosquito General's back, pushing him forward as it left a deep wound.

"How... how can I be injured?" The Mosquito General said in a weak voice, it knew how strong it was, and it would be hard press for any humans at even its level to best it.

As if answering his question, a voice sounded from above, "That's because we're better bitch, Arc Crusher!"

The Mosquito General struggled to lift its head in despair as the giant shield fell on its body, crushing it into a blob of blood and crushed flesh.

Joe looked at the sight below with a sneer before he lifted his head and spoke, "We might have just beaten Evan's rec...:

Joe was about to say something, but he soon noticed that Rick was looking at Evan's direction with somewhat sad eyes.

Joe looked over and saw Evan casually walking over towards them; the Bee General was already chopped into multiple pieces.

"Looks like I spoke too soon..." Joe said with troublesome eyes.

Evan, having reached them, looked at everyone before he spoke, "We've gotten this bunch down, now let's begin the clean-up."

"Right!" Everyone replied in unison, moments after they all vanished as they speared out and began a massacre like none before.
