207 The Great Crisis!

While Evan's and Leo's party battled against the hordes of mosquitos and giant bees in Checkpoint 01, far away from their location, another drastic change was about to occur.

Within the City of Hope, a series of air fleets gathered at the center of the Hall of Governance. They were loaded with troops of Evolvers alongside standard militia garbed in high tech battle armor. Each prepared to travel towards the various areas that were being ravaged by those that had separated from the Insect Hive's hordes.

Milon stood at the forefront of one of the airships, staring at the faces of Wilma, Vernisa, as well as the other core officials that were staying behind to defend the city as he spoke, "I'm heading off to deal with these pests, the city is in your hands..."

"Yes, City Head!" The officials said.

"Understood! I will take the lead here on your behalf," Vernisa said.

"As Sir Milon wishes," Wilma said, but if one looked, they would see a hint of worry in her eyes.

Milon pretended not to see it as he ended the video call and stared at the ship's crew when he spoke, "Let's move out!"

"Yes sir!" The others said as the fleet began to accelerate towards the rural areas.

Vernisa, Wilma, and those who stayed behind watched as the airships left, but after a short while, Vernisa looked at them and spoke with sharp eyes, "Everyone, get to your stations, command all military sectors of the city to ready the plasma cannons and city barrier!"

"Yes, Ma'am!" A few core officials said as they hurried off to handle their tasks.

Wilma then looked at Vernisa and nodded before taking her to leave, she knew what she needed to do, and only her force was able to handle direct combat even more effectively than Leo's team.

Vernisa looked at this before she turned around to stare at the distance once more, the cool wind blowing by her gorgeous face as it swept her hair to the side as she thought to herself, 'I hope everything goes as planned...'

After saying this, she no longer wasted time here and went off to handle her own duties.

Away from this scene, the airships moved rather quickly as despite the city's massive size it didn't even take long for them to leave the city's central areas. The plan seemed as if it was about to proceed smoothly, but soon there was a new change.

In an instant, the sky grew darker as if covered by something as a reddish-black cloud had appeared, when this happened, everyone within the city and the air fleet looked up with confused looks.

However, as most of them had personally experienced the dreadful scene like this many years ago, persons like the veteran Evolvers, core officials, and Milon who rode along the airships had looks of horror on their faces as each side gave a similar commanded.

"Yes sir!" The crew said as they promptly began to press a series of buttons while flipping different switches.

When Milon heard this, he looked at another channel and sent a warning towards the Hall of Governance.

Vernisa, who now stood within the central command room of the Hall of Governance, had received his command with a pale and shocked expression.

Without wasting a single moment, she pressed the alarm button of the city as she sent a command to all sectors of the city, "All Defense Stations, warm the cannons and prepare for combat! All Evolvers and militia, prepare yourselves for combat and ensure that you evacuate all weak and elderly!"

Following the series of commands, and loud hazard alarm, the entire city began to transform as all personnel began to act with swift movements. As for the city defense force, and other elite units; a feeling of dread had risen in their hearts, but not of them dared to disobey.

Within the fleet of airships commanded by Milon, a series of mechanical noises sounded as the massive plasma cannons from the ships and various aircrafts aimed upwards. Not long after, a set of charging noises sounded as a bright series of colorful lights had begun to gather around their mussels.

Above the cloud of mosquitoes, Marlin sat on a particularly large mosquito with her legs crossed. Her long blood-colored hair flowed through the high winds as she licked her lips when she noticed the bright lights and air fleet below her horde.

"Hmm~ hehe... I smell blood. Oh so, wonderful, I haven't felt like this in ages, I bet that bitch Devora is having fun on the other side as well," Marlin said with a slight moan as if intoxicated by the abundant amount of blood around her.

Suddenly, a mosquito general appeared by her side and spoke, "Mother, the humans are charging those troublesome weapons again, shall I take care of it?"

Marlin smirked and replied, "You may..."

The mosquito general wasted no time as he heard her words. He flew towards a section of the horde where a peculiar looking bug resided, having the appearance of a beetle without the horns as sparks of electricity flickered over its dark blue carapace.

He grasped the bug and flew out of the black cloud appearing a few dozen meters below it in an instant as Milon, who was staring upwards, had only now noticed his arrival.

"Hurry and kill it!" Milon commanded as he felt a surge of dread, even from this lackey, he found it quite startling that he didn't even notice it before it arrived a few meters away from their fleet.

One of the cannons at the front shifted towards it before it fired off a devastating ray of light in the mosquito general 's direction. However, as if he didn't mind it, mosquito general merely sneered.

Boom! An explosion formed in the sky as the beam swept through his location and annihilated a few chunks of mosquitoes from the looming dark cloud.

A moment later, the lights faded as Milon and the others felt relief as it hit the target. However, as the scene cleared up, their eyes shrunk when they saw that the mosquito general was still hovering in the sky with no damage to its body.

"What? Did it dodge? How could just a general have such speed?" Milon exclaimed he didn't think that they would grow so strong in the period they hadn't battled against each other.

Not only himself, even the crew members were beginning to feel a sense of despair, but as if the matters had only just started, the mosquito general finally made a move.

He tossed the bug before him and pointed his finger towards it as a red ray smashed into its hard shell. In this instant, as if the bug felt threatened, its shell opened up, revealing a savage set of sparkling blue eyes as it opened its mouth to scream.

Milon noticing this was shocked, he yelled, "Darn! It's the Electro Sonic Bug; everyone get down!"

"Kraaaaaah!" A loud cry sounded across all directions, scattering not only sonic waves but electrical pulses, which created an effect much similar to an actual EMP pulse but one that continued to spread across the entire city.

The other cannons that charged up and were only moments from firing towards the black cloud began to make unusual noises as sparks of electricity flickered over their surfaces. Not long after, the cannons became disabled as even a few of the airships started to fall from the sky.

Rumble! Following a series of alarms and mechanical powering down noises. The airships that Milon stood on began to fall from the sky along with the others in the fleet.

"Dammit! Everyone, brace yourself for impact!" Milon commanded, as the ship rapidly descended from the sky with a loud screeching noise, the image of a nearby skyscraper grew closer and closer in his eyes until everything turned white as a shocking series of explosions had followed.

The mosquito general had a satisfied grin when he saw each of the airship crash into the buildings and exploded. He spoke, "Huhu... humans are nothing without their weapons..."

Following those words, he turned to a red remnant shade as he rapidly flew back up into the black cloud and kneeled before Marlin.

"I have accomplished my task, mother," The mosquito general said in a humble tone.

Marlin smirked as she paid him no mind; her eyes were staring off in another direction before she raised her hand and spoke, "All my children hear my command, scatter and slaughter all humans!"

When the mosquito general heard her command he bowed and spoke, "As you wish!"

Moments after, the terrifying horde of mosquitoes is scattered about in a wild fashion with a large portion lead by the mosquito general towards the city.

Marlin gazed at the scenes of chaos around her with a wonderful smile. Her face seemed a bit reddish as if she couldn't control herself as she spoke, "Today I shall feast to my content..."
