Chapter 242: A Battle’s End

Name:Ascenders Rift Author:ShadowsFinger
As the earth shook, a series of wires which seemed to have already been in place, swept towards Pira in a blinding flash. Pira wanted to avoid it, but despite her astounding speed, the thin threads had already wholly enveloped her being.

'What on earth are these threads made of?' Pira inwardly cursed. She erupted her blood genetic energies but found that they only grew tighter now that she was bounded.

Breya had a slightly pale look as she continuously channeled her battle energies into her skill, but if one looked at her face, they would notice that she was carrying a look of confidence.

It didn't take long for Pira to calm down; after struggling with the threads for a bit, she noticed Breya's current state. A sneer appeared on her face as she spoke, "Foolish human girl, I don't know how you're capable of binding me with such weak power, but from what I can see, you won't be able to hold on to an even greater force. Hmph! Our battle has gone on long enough, it's time for me to show you my strongest strength, the power that made us a primal."

Following those words, Pira's eyes glowed in a sinister light as a ball of light shone from the center of her chest, causing her body to emanate a devastating blood energic power.

"Primal Core Eruption!" Pira yelled as her hair then flow upwards due to the astounding amount of wild energies gathering around her, one that formed a pillar of light around her being.

As this happened, the threads that bounded Pira started to expand as if an immense amount of force was forcing it to relieve its coil.

Affected by this change, Breya's face turned even paler as blood leaked from the corners of her lips; she gritted her teeth, pushing everything she hands into her threads as her battle energies skyrocketed, causing her hair to flow behind in a wild manner.

"I can't hold her for much longer; guys hurry up give and Emmy and Layla some more time!" Breya shouted towards the others.

Joe and Rick, who heard this nodded, as they promptly acted; Joe jumped into the air as his body started to emit steam, transforming into his muscular physique from his Overburn talent skill.

On the other hand, Rick turned into a flash of blue light that swept towards Pira instantly, striking his spear towards her forehead with an unstoppable will.

As for Emilia and Layla, they were already preparing themselves from a distance. Emilia had her eyes closed as her body emanated a staggering amount of Spirit Power, it seemed as if she was deeply connecting herself with nature.

Layla, on the other hand, drew a spiral in the air with her scepter and positioned its brightly shining magic jewel towards Pira's direction. Her body now glowing in divine-like purple energies that seemed ready cleanse all evil.

Pira's eyes shrunk at the sight of this; she snorted as use a large amount of overwhelming power to release one of her arms from the confines of Breya's threads.

In this instance, she stretched her palm forward and opened her fingers wide, causing her hand to glow in multi-colored energies. Following this, a series of objects gathered from the surroundings, forming a barrier of debris around her figure.

Rick only arrived moments after the barrier formed; he struck his spear with full force and yelled, "Shatter!"

His spear glowed in brilliant holy white lights before it crashed into the barrier, creating a large explosion before revealing a slight opening.

The barrier rippled as Rick's spear continuously struck it with his holy white energies, but no matter how hard Rick tried, it would never push through the debris underneath it.

Pira smirked at this and was about to mock him, but suddenly her face turned cold as she saw that Rick had a sly look on his face. With a flash, his body vanished, as Joe descended towards his spear soon after, his shield pressed down towards it like a hammer would do a nail.

"Not good!" Pira exclaimed in alarm, hurrying to conjure more power into her barrier, causing it to glow in radiant lights as she clenched her raised palm into a fist.

"Hehe, bitch, this is for looking down on us!" Joe said as he pressed his weight down with even more force, crashing his shield onto the spear which then broke through the barrier and descended further, but right at this time, Pira shouted.

"Explode!"

With a boom, most of the barrier shattered as chunks of debris went flying. Both Joe and Pira were forced back from the explosive collision, as even Rick's spear went flying into the air.

At this moment, the chunks of rocks that hovered around Pira had fallen onto the ground. Looking at her more closely, one would notice a part of her pale looking face from behind a part of her now shattered helmet.

A set of cold-looking red eyes that stared at Emilia and the others with murderous intent as she lifted her head and cried out, "You damn humans, all of you should die!"

With everything on the line, Pira used her free arm to conjure all of her powers. The core within her body started to glow even brighter, a ball of energy gathered before her raised palm. Instantly, a giant ball of red energy gathered, emanating a destructive power from ripples that tore through the earth in the nearby surroundings.

Not wasting a moment, she flung her palm forward, tossing the giant ball of energy towards the others' direction, causing Joe's face to sink.

"Crap, it's too much energy! We'll be done for if it hits!" Joe said as he tried to hurry over, but due to the ball's speed, he found that he wouldn't be able to block it in time.

Rick also looked at his with worry; his eyes flashed as he contemplated grabbing Emilia and trying to escape its range.

However, unlike Joe and Rick, Breya's eyes had a firm look as she glanced at Layla and Emilia while thinking, 'It's all up to you now.'

As if Breya's words held the truth, Pira, who had a savage smile on her face, and was eagerly looking forward to the result of her all or nothing attack, soon had a change in expression.

Instantly, a myriad of golden arrows that embedded themselves at odd positions in the earth around her body began to glow in a bright radiance. Once this happened, Emilia's voice sounded, "Mother of Trees, lend us your strength..."

As if the world heard her call, the golden arrowed vanished into the earth as a series of gigantic branches broke out at alarming speeds; these branches swept towards the ball of energy in a flash, rapidly constraining it by many layers.

Moments after, a bright light shone at their core, followed by a shockwave. But even this was mitigated by the endless branches wrapped around its center.

'This... how could this be? How can my...?' Pira thought with a look of alarm on her face as her mind was in a state of shock.

"Vile thing, accept your end, Lightwave!" Layla's cold voice said from a distance behind Pira, causing her eyes to widen in surprise. She tilted her head only to see an even larger ball of energy gathered around Layla's scepter, shining in divine purple radiance.

'Oh no! I must...' Pira's mind wanted to think, but it was a pity, for it was too late.

A bright purple beam blasted towards her seconds after Layla's words; it then crashed into her unguarded figure before creating a massive purple explosion that spread out everywhere.

Emilia's branches made sure to bound everyone's figure before the light continued to expand before erupting in a giant pillar of purple lights of an area of a few dozens of meters.

The instant this pillar appeared, a shockwave scattered across most of the island, trailing towards the distance where a series of explosive collisions were heard, followed by the destruction of small hills and towering trees

Suddenly, two silhouettes blurred and crashed into each other, creating a new shockwave the formed a crater around them for a few dozen meters before clashing with the incoming wave from a distance.

The two forced dissipated with a puff as the two silhouettes retreated and stood a few meters away from each other, gazing towards the distant light with varying expressions.

"Layla..." Evan muttered in a soft voice as he glanced at the scene, but not long after, his eyes returned to Valoz, who had a puzzled look on his face.

"Well, it looks like I need to wrap up as well," Evan said with a smirk as cricked his fingers and held tighter on his two weapons, causing Valoz to stare at him coldly; a sinister wind blew between the two enemies as if beckoning the next phase of their match.
