Chapter 385 - I'sm a little tired

DX and Kai Xin had just arrived outside the operating theatre when Ghost was wheeled out by the nurses followed by Dr. Phillip who had an angry expression on his face.

"What the hell happened to his hand? It's a good thing that it's not as severely broken as I thought," said Dr. Philip as he walked with them towards the ICU.

"What's wrong with his hand?" asked Callum nervously as he glanced at Ghost who was unconscious on the gurney. He placed a hand on Ghost arm the entire journey.

Dr. Phillip glared at him as he snapped, "What do you think? It's me! Obviously, his hand is fine. But if it gets broken again, even I can't patch him up! Break his other body part next time!"

"Is he going to wake up soon?" asked Kai Xin when they were outside of the ICU. They watched as the nurses pushed Ghost into the room. Callum went in with them while Dr. Phillip talked to the rest outside the room.

"Not for another couple of hours. He'd be here until he wakes up. After that, the nurses would transfer him to a normal ward. Don't worry about it. The surgery is successful but I'm putting him here for observation purposes," said Dr. Phillip before he yawned loudly.

He cracked his knuckles and took off his glasses before he massaged his sore neck by himself. The surgery took 4 hours. He was in another major surgery in the morning and he had just completed the 6 hours surgery when he received the call from Han Ye.

At this moment, Dr. Phillip just wanted to sleep. So, he talked to the nurses with regard to the care before he said goodbye to the rest of them.

When Callum came out, Kai Xin told him what Dr. Phillip said.

Callum then turned to Kai Xin and said, "Sorry for making you come over for nothing."

"It's not for nothing. He's my friend," said Kai Xin with a kind smile.

Han Ye stayed at the ICU to watch over Ghost while the rest went to the cafeteria to discuss everything. DX told Callum about the things that Kai Xin and he discussed earlier.

"No. Impossible. He won't do something as stupid as that," said Callum as he shook his head.

"He would," replied both Kai Xin and Phantom in unison. They both knew how reckless Ghost could be when his brain stopped working properly.

Phantom then looked away shyly while Kai Xin explained, "He's not that careless. I'm sure that from the moment he knew that he's a target, he'd have placed safety precautions around him."

"No way. Then why didn't he tell me?"

Kai Xin shrugged, "Because he doesn't want you to interfere probably. He probably thinks that you'd be overprotective and if you placed guards around him all the time, there's no way Mrs. Luo can get to him...and he probably wanted her to get to him."

Phantom nodded and he continued on her behalf, "If I'm not wrong... Either someone has been following him from the moment he was kidnapped, or he had someone in Mrs. Luo's team of kidnappers."

"Callum, later tell Han Ye to go to the Shenlong House. Go with him and meet your cousin and pay attention to the questions that he asked. You need to start learning. Ask Shenlong Yuan for the details of how they were surrounded. Also, find out the identities of those that died during the shootout. I'm sure you don't need me to teach you how to figure it out," said DX as he raised an eyebrow at Callum.

Callum frowned, "But Guang Ying is not awake yet, and I have -"

Kai Xin interrupted him, "I'll stay here with XiAn to take care of him. Your job now is to find out Su Yan Xi's whereabouts… Keep an eye on Luo Han as well."

Even though Callum was reluctant but he knew that he had no right to say anything else. With DX here, he was kicked down to second-in-command.

"No," thought Callum as he glanced at Kai Xin begrudgingly. With Kai Xin here, he was the third-in-command. He grumbled about how no one took him seriously.

Phantom agreed with the arrangement. No matter what, Callum was sheltered by the Du Family and he was still too inexperienced. This would be a great opportunity for him to learn how to be an impressive leader like his brother.

Phantom looked at DX as he volunteered, "I'll pull all the surveillance videos that I can find. If it's an area with civilians, then I'm sure that there are cameras nearby."

Once everyone understood their own tasks, they separated.

While DX and Kai Xin were waiting outside the ICU, DX suddenly asked, "Are you sure you don't want to go back first? Isn't it tiring for you?"

She shook her head, "It's equally tiring for you as well… You've been at work the whole day."

He smiled and wrapped his arm around her shoulders as he said, "If I can't even deal with this, how am I supposed to satisfy you?"

She rolled her eyes at him before she stood up.

As she rubbed her lower back and stretched out, she suddenly said, "Actually, you know what… I'm a little tired. Let's head over to the ward first for now. I think the nurses arranged extra beds for us."

DX agreed, "Anything you want."

They then walked away from the ICU.

Not long after they left, someone came from around the corner and slowly walked towards the ICU room where Ghost was placed in.

He was wearing a cap that covered half of his blond hair. When he was right outside the ICU, he took off the cap as he stared at the neon ICU sign.

The young nurse who was tending to Ghost came out of the room shortly after and when she saw him, she was surprised as she had not seen him with the group earlier.

"Who are you?" asked the nurse as she looked at him with suspicion.

"Hey, beautiful… I'm a friend of Luo Guang Ying. I heard that he's in an accident, so I came for a visit. Is he up for a visit yet?" said the man with a smile and a Russian accent.

The nurse blushed at the compliment and she nodded. This floor was off-limits to most people, and she was told earlier that the floor was under lockdown. Everyone who was coming over would need a pre-clearance check.

She thought, "Since he's here, it means that he passed the check. I guess there's no harm in letting him in."

As she looked at him from top to bottom, she noted the clean look that he was sporting and placed her guard down. She then said to him, "You can visit him. He should be awake soon. Come with me."

The moment she turned around, he stabbed her with a syringe and within seconds, she fell unconscious. The Russian man then carried her inside the room and placed her down gently on the bed before he turned his eyes to Ghost who was still unconscious.
