Just as he was about to walk towards Ghost's bed, the door to the ICU was flung open and in walked DX with a gun pointed at the man's head.

"Hello. I believe this level is off limit," said DX nonchalantly as he gestured for the man to step away from Ghost.

The man smiled as he lifted his hands.

"Slowly," warned DX as he narrowed his eyes at him. When he was walking Kai Xin to the room earlier, she told him that she saw a shadow at the corner while she was stretching.

He was unwilling to allow her return to the ICU with him when there was someone suspicious, so he walked with her to the room quickly before ordering the guards who were waiting outside the room to make sure that she stayed inside.

He then took a gun from one of the guards before he rushed over to the ICU. When he arrived, he saw the blonde hair man injecting the nurse with something that caused her to be unconscious.

When the man placed his hands behind the back of his head, DX snapped, "On your knees…"

"This is just our first meeting. Isn't this too fast?" said the man with a smirk. However, DX's stoic expression told him that he did not find it amusing.

The man then sighed and got down on his knees.

As he pointed the gun at the man's head, DX smiled coldly, "Do you think you'd be able to sneak past my guards so easily?"

The man narrowed his eyes at DX before he laughed softly, "That's why those guards look like they were high on something. I was wondering why it was so easy to sneak past them."

After the talk with Kai Xin when they were on the way to the hospital, both of them had a suspicion that either Mrs. Luo would send someone over, or Ghost's people would show up.

They might be wrong but they did not want to lose this chance of catching them. Hence, they set up this ruse.

At the same time, Ghost finally woke up. When he saw DX with a gun pointing at the man on the floor, he mustered all his strength to say, "N-No!"

When DX heard him, he glanced at Ghost. The latter shook his head and murmured, "M-My man…"

When DX glared at the man on the floor, the man shrugged and said, "Can I stand up now? It's uncomfortable to be on my knees in front of a man."

DX frowned. He noted the Russian accent from earlier was gone. Instead, he was speaking in perfect Mandarin. He then hesitated for a moment before saying, "Any weird movement and I'd not hesitate to kill you."

The man smiled as he stood up. He then went over to Ghost. When he saw the bruises on Ghost's face and arms, he said wryly, "Sorry about the beating…"

Still groggy from the anesthesia, Ghost merely waived his right hand once to dismiss it.

"Explain yourself, Luo Guang Ying."

"I'll explain it for him. I doubt he has the energy to talk," said the Russian man. As he stepped away from DX, he introduced himself, "My name is Roman. I'm part of a small group of Russian mob that is under the control by the Su Family. I'm also one of Young Master Guang Ying's men who he planted there since years ago."

When DX glanced at Ghost for confirmation, the latter nodded and said, "Precaution…"

Since Ghost did not know when he could attack, he had to lay on the bricks for the future him to use.

One of the bricks he placed as a foundation was to send his own people to infiltrate the Su Family's group. The people that he sent in would be there for years until he called for them.

It was the same as what the Shenlong Family did with their spies.

Roman continued, "A few weeks back, my direct boss received a request from Mrs. Luo asking for a few men. Since the pay was good, I volunteered and together with the rest, we were flown in. It was then that I found out about the target which is my dear friend here… When I called him, he told me what had happened and asked me to play along."

DX frowned and asked, "So, you're part of the group that kidnapped Ye Tian? Where is he now?"

Roman sighed, "Unfortunately, I have no idea. Mrs. Luo was smart. She changed her plan three hours before execution. Different teams were given different instructions. Once a group managed to get their hands on the target, he or she is to message her on a phone provided by her. She would then tell them where to go."

"You cannot contact your teammate?" asked DX suspiciously.

Roman laughed softly before saying, "I won't call them my teammates. More like acquaintances. I mean, they'd kill me if it means a bigger portion of the money. Anyway, there's no way to contact them. Only Mrs. Luo knows."

"Then who took Mrs. Luo?"

Roman shrugged, "No idea. I thought that the rescue team would take her as well but she either somehow slipped away during the commotion, or someone else took her."

Based on the last conversation that he had with Ghost, the latter convinced him that he had men who were on standby and if Roman were caught, there would be someone who would rescue him.

He suddenly added, "The cars that came... I don't think they are all there to save me. I expected at most three, but there were more than 8 cars. They were aiming at everyone instead of Mrs. Luo. I had to use my colleague's dead body as a shield to escape."

The only way he managed to escape was because the driver from one of the cars pulled him in while he was dodging the rain of bullets and told him that they were there for him.

"And you're sure that it's not the Su Family?" asked DX. He was still holding the gun which was pointed towards the ground.

Roman shook his head. He sat on one of the chairs on the right side of Ghost's bed as he explained, "Unlikely. I doubt that they even know what she was doing behind their back. Well, at least not the top players. When she contacted my boss, she explicitly instructed him to not to say anything to anyone else from her family."

DX thought about it. He found Roman's explanation believable. After all, the patriarch of the Su Family should have known by now what Luo Yin did to Kai Xin, the current Madam President Du. The Su Family was not that dumb to not understand the consequences of their interference.

Even if they wanted to interfere, it would not be to help her take her revenge. Instead, they would have sent her overseas.

While DX was staring at him wondering whether to believe his words, Roman suddenly slammed his fist on his palm and said, "Oh yeah, by the way, I saw a Chinese dude when the group met up a few weeks prior. He works for Mrs. Luo and she seems to rely on him quite a lot."

"Who is he?" asked DX as he narrowed his eyes at Roman.

"No idea. I think she calls him Ah Jie or something… He's not part of the Russian mob, so I think he's from here."

While the two talked, Ghost frowned as his eyes darted around the room. The annoying person that he expected to see was not here. He tried to push himself up but he was still weak from the anesthesia. Roman immediately went forward to help him sit up.

Ghost thanked him before he glanced around the room. He then turned to DX and asked, "Where's the idiot?"

"Shenlong Family. He went to gather some information," said DX. He placed the gun back into his holster belt and said gruffly, "Why didn't you tell us anything? Have you ever thought about what Callum would feel when he finds out that you're gone?"

Ghost sighed as he leaned back against the bed. After a while, he said, "I don't know when they are going to act, or how many people would be coming after me, or where would it be... I don't know anything. What can I tell you guys when I don't know anything? What's the point? That idiot has to work and I don't need him to fret over me 24/7."

DX sat at one of the chairs on the left of Ghost's bed and he crossed his legs before he said sharply, "Guang Ying, I'm not telling you this because I care for you, but because my wife cares for you. What you did was extremely stupid! If this Roman guy was sent out by that woman in the middle of a conversation, or if Callum arrived later, you would have been dead!"

DX did not mince his words. Both Callum and Ghost were adults and they were both men. There was no reason why he had to be here with them instead of his wife and children.

He had been working the whole day and he just wanted to spend time with his wife and the rest of his family, but these people kept bothering him with their problems.

When Ghost looked as if he was feeling guilty, DX added, "Whether or not Callum will fret over you 24/7 is not for you to decide. You cannot enter into a relationship with him if you cannot trust him to do the right thing. Compared to you, he might be an idiot, but he's still someone I raised."

He then leaned to his left and opened the drawer to take out the container with the sweet and sour pork with rice. Placing it on Ghost's lap, he said, "He's someone who knows how to protect the people he loves."

With that said, DX walked out of the room. Before he closed the door, he said, "This floor would be on lockdown starting from now."

Roman nodded. He understood that DX was warning him and telling him to leave immediately. After DX left, he talked a little bit more with Ghost and covered the unconscious nurse with a blanket that he took from a closet in the ICU room before he left.

Once he was all alone, Ghost opened the container. The food was cold but he still ate some of it. While eating, he felt bad about putting Callum through it. DX was right. He should have talked to Callum about it.

The problem was, he was so used to not having people there to protect him that he did not know how to rely on someone.

Ghost sighed as he placed the lid back on the container and placed it aside.
