Chapter 390 - Would you ever hurt me?

Name:Be My Strength Author:LuoYeYouLing
The driver stopped the car by the side of the road to let Callum and Han Ye down. The way to the Shenlong Manor was the other way from Imperial Hospital. Once they were off the car, they flagged two cabs down.

Callum told Han Ye to go home and help Phantom. It would be better and faster to have two pair of eyes to go through the videos.

On the other hand, he would be going to the hospital to take care of Ghost and to get his people to check on the identity of the dead men.

After 45 minutes of the ride, he finally arrived at the hospital. It was almost 2 a.m. by then.

Callum talked to some of the guards who were at the reception before he went to the ICU room where Ghost was. However, when he arrived, Ghost was no longer there.

When he talked to the nurse, they told him that since Ghost was awake and that he did not show any complications, they sent him a normal ward. Well, it was the best ward in the hospital so it was nothing close to "normal".

Callum then went to the Presidential Ward. When he entered, Kai Xin was sleeping on the spare bed while DX was sitting at the couch as he went through his work emails.

Occasionally, he would look at Kai Xin just to check on her before he went back to his work.

Callum glanced at the bed and sighed in relief when he saw that Ghost was sleeping as well.

When DX saw him, he asked in a hushed tone, "How was it?"

Callum glanced at the two people who were sleeping and nudged his chin towards the direction of the hallway. They then went out of the room to talk properly.

Both of them exchanged all the information they found. After DX told Callum what happened earlier, Callum was a little annoyed and angry.

He paced around the hallway before he hissed, "Why?!"

He thought that Ghost would have trusted him by now and it pissed him off that the person he loved was still distrustful towards him.

"Talk to him yourself. I've told you what I had to. Anyway, since you're back here, he's your responsibility. I'm taking Kai Xin home now," said DX without any emotion.

He had arranged a few meetings tomorrow so that he would be free on the day of the school festival.

Callum was still a little annoyed, so he just sat outside to fume a little. Part of him wanted to throttle Ghost's neck for putting himself in danger, but part of him wanted to hug him and soothed his pain. He had never felt this way before and it confused him slightly.

When the door opened again, DX came out with a very sleepy Kai Xin. He had wanted to carry her up but she refused it and said that she wanted to walk. In the end, he relented and merely kept an arm around her waist to support her.

As they passed by Callum, Kai Xin patted him on the shoulder and gave him a pitiful glance but she did not say anything.

She was used to Ghost's reckless behavior which usually involved her but this was Callum's first time dealing with Ghost's behavior.

He was actually behaving better than her. The first time Ghost used her, she hurt him badly. She wondered if Callum would actually hurt Ghost.

As they walked to the lift, Kai Xin chuckled and whispered to DX, "He's not going to be able to do anything, is he?"

DX agreed, "Yeah..."

Callum was the same as him. Once they loved someone, they would continue to love that person no matter what.

Once they entered the lift and the door closed, DX glanced at Kai Xin who was rubbing her eyes sleepily.

He had to go through the same with her when she was filled with distrust towards him and others, and he understood what Callum was feeling at the moment.

When Kai Xin glanced up at him and saw that he was looking at her with a loving gaze, she smiled and asked softly, "What?"

He shrugged and kissed the top of her head, "Nothing. I'm just thankful that you're mine."

She laughed softly, "President Du, I'm already your woman. You don't have to butter me up every day..."

"But I want to..." said DX before he leaned down to kiss her on the lips.

....

After they left, Callum went into the ward and closed the door behind him. As he stared at Ghost, his eyes suddenly wandered to the red thing that was underneath his pillow.

When he gently pulled it out, he was surprised to see that it was the container that he used to pack food for Ghost.

He opened the lid and noted that the numbers of bite-sized pork pieces were fewer compared to earlier.

"He ate it?" thought Callum as he stared at Ghost. Even though he still wanted to throttle him, his anger had subsided a little when he saw how Ghost treated his carefully packed food.

After a while, he placed the container on the coffee table in front of Ghost's bed.

He then went back to the bed and leaning over Ghost, he placed a kiss on Ghost's forehead before whispering, "Don't do that again, alright? I don't like it when you scare me like that… "

There was no response from Ghost so Callum merely helped him adjust the blanket before he went over to the bed that Kai Xin used it.

After taking off his shoes and shirt, he stretched out a little before he sat down on the bed.

He was so tired that by the time he laid his head down on the pillow, he fell asleep immediately.

It felt as if he had only slept for a moment before he felt someone covering his body with a blanket. When he opened his eyes, he saw Ghost hovering over him.

The moment Ghost saw that Callum had opened his eyes, he immediately dropped the rest of the blanket on him. With a nervous expression, he said, "I-I thought you might be a little cold… You were mumbling about being cold…"

Callum rubbed his eyes as he sat up. He looked at his watch and noted that he had actually slept for at least 4 hours. He yawned loudly before asking, "Did I wake you up?"

Ghost shook his head, "I had to use the toilet earlier."

"Why didn't you wake me up? I'd have helped you," said Callum. He looked up at Ghost with a pair of sleepy eyes and a mischievous grin.

Ghost rolled his eyes and said, "I have another hand to help myself. You can keep your hands to yourself."

He then went to his bed and sat there with his legs still on the floor. He winced when he felt the pain around his ribcage.

Callum put on his shoes and went over to sit next to on the Ghost's right side.

"How's your hand? Are you hurting badly? Should I call for a nurse or a doctor?" asked Callum as he glanced at Ghost's bandaged torso and his left hand which was in a cast.

Ghost closed his eyes as he tried to deal with the pain. After a while, he said softly, "It hurt slightly, but bearable. The painkillers that they gave me are quite strong."

Callum raised his hand and attempted to flick Ghost's forehead, but when Ghost opened his eyes and looked at him with those big, sad eyes of his, Callum lowered his hand.

He then sighed, "You idi*t. I heard from my brother. If it's not because you're currently injured, I would have injured you myself for pulling such a stunt."

"Would you?" asked Ghost as he stared at Callum.

"What?"

Ghost felt that it was a stupid question to ask and that it was not something that a man should ask. He wanted to stop talking but with Callum staring at him so intently, he felt that he should say it.

As he stared at his broken hand that had been hurt more often than not, he thought about what DX told him earlier.

In the end, he closed his eyes and blurted out, "Would you ever hurt me?"

The moment he finished talking, his face turned red from the embarrassment. He felt that as a man, this kind of question would diminish his manhood.

When Callum hurt him, he frowned as he said clearly, "Of course not! I was only saying that out of anger…"

After a while, his habit came back and he whispered, "I might hurt you slightly when we play around on bed… but I'm sure you'd come to enjoy it."

Ghost opened his eyes and stared at Callum while he completely ignored his terrible flirting skills. He then looked down at his hospital issued slippers.

He did not know if he could believe Callum but it was still nice to hear someone said that.

After a while, with a slightly choked voice and a right fist that was gripping the hospital gown tightly, he mumbled, "Thanks…"
