85 Ice cream

In the middle of the night, Nian Jiezhen woke up because of a nightmare.

The memories of Daniel Wu's tortures we're still fresh after all.

Even if she was acting alright outside, whenever she thought of what happened to her, her body will unconsciously tremble in fear.

"Shit..." She muttered as she sat up. She was drench in sweat because of the nightmare.

Ren Shiyuan's senses have always been sharp ever since what happened so when he felt movements on his side, he easily woke up.

He turned and saw Nian Jiezhen's trembling body.

"Jiezhen? Are you alright?" He asked worriedly.

Nian Jiezhen turned to him, this time she was acting as calm as she could be. "Ah... Did I wake you up? I'm sorry."

He sat up and reached out to gently touch her cheek, "It's alright..."

Seeing him there and feeling his warm touch made her relax.

She didn't want to worry him but she knew that Ren Shiyuan knew what was bothering her. She didn't have to say it out.

Despite that, his presence was enough to calm her. He was the one who saved her so she felt safer being near him.

"How's your wound?" Nian Jiezhen asked, looking at Rem Shiyuan worriedly.

He was shot in the back so he wasn't able to rest on his back for a while.

"It's nothing." He chuckled, "I'll live."

Since Ren Shiyuan accompanied Nian Jiezhen in the hospital a few days ago, he was also treated by the doctor.

At first, Nian Jiezhen didn't notice that he was actually shot because of his black shirt but she later learned it from one of the nurses.

"Shiyuan... I'm hungry," She said with a soft voice.

"You are? What do you want to eat? Do you want takeout or do you want me to cook?"

Nian Jiezhen couldn't help but smile upon seeing how Ren Shiyuan was acting. He was extra careful around her ever since she got discharged from the hospital.

"Ice cream. I want to have some ice cream tonight."

Ice cream?

"The doctor said that you should be eating healthy food for the baby."

She pouted, "Ice cream. I want ice cream."

"..."

Knowing that Ren Shiyuan wasn't going to allow her, she decided to use her charms against him, "Shiyuan, please?"

"... Fine."

In the end, Ren Shiyuan went out to buy ice cream for her.

When he returned, Nian Jiezhen ended up blinking a few times since he bought a lot.

"I don't know what flavor you want," He chuckled.

"You could have messaged me."

"I didn't bring my phone."

She ended up smiling helplessly at the dork in front of her.

Nian Jiezhen looked in the plastic and picked a choco-mint flavor ice cream.

After that, Ren Shiyuan and placed the rest of the ice cream in the freezer before he returned to her side.

"We need to have some rules in this home."

"What rules?" Nian Jiezhen asked before she scooped the sweet treat with a spoon.

"Diet rules."

She paused from eating as she turned to look at him, "Ah?"

"Too many sweets are bad for the baby so we're going to plan a healthy diet for you."

"But... I feel like craving for more ice cream..."

"Just like what I thought." He chuckled, "You are only allowed to eat ice cream once a day."

"Two."

"Once."

"Two." Nian Jiezhen showed two fingers to him this time. "One in the morning or afternoon and one in the evening."

Because of her how reasonable she was, Ren Shiyuan ended up giving in. "Alright, let's go with that then."

She chuckled, "Thank you, Shiyuan."

Ren Shiyuan smiled, "Anything for you, princess."

While he was watching her eat, he suddenly remembered something.

"Oh yeah, my mother is going to visit us tomorrow."

Nian Jiezhen ended up dropping her spoon upon hearing what he said, "Y-your mother?"
