"It's alright. You don't have to comfort me," Jean said to Juan. She gave him a reassuring smile. "So how long do you plan on staying here? Is there any place you want to go? I can come with you if you like!"
"Really? You'd do that for me?" Juan smiled from ear to ear, his voice full of excitement. Soon after, however, his smile went as quick as it came. He looked at Jean with a sudden sadness. "Well, actually. Don't bother," he said bitterly. "Zed might get upset."
"What are you talking about?" Jean shook her head. "Zed isn't petty. Besides, you're his good friend! If only he wasn't so busy right now, I'm sure he'd want to come along too. Plus, Adolf and Avery will soon finish shooting the commercial for Zed. I think they will have time to accompany you as well!"
Juan perked up a bit when Jean brought up Avery. He cleared his throat and looked down at his hands resting on his lap. "Hey Jean. Can I ask you a question?"
"What is it?" Jean reached towards a glass of milk on the table. She took a couple of sips. The heat of the day made the milk warmer than it had been, but was still quite refreshing nonetheless.
"I saw you sticking up for Avery," Juan started, still looking down at his hands. "and I saw you sticking up for Moore, too. I'm just a bit in the dark here. Are you all friends? Avery hasn't been here that long. I mean, are you really that close to her?"
Juan asked. He then looked up at Jean curiously.
Jean was taken aback. She carefully placed her glass back on top of the table. "Why are you asking me this?" Jean finally replied.
"It's just that I don't think Zed is the type of person to mind other people's business," Juan said. Then he looked at Jean earnestly. "The way I see it," Juan continued. "Zed wouldn't have known who Avery was if she didn't endorse his company, let alone call me for her benefit."
Jean then understood what Juan was trying to imply. She gave a slow nod.
Now that Juan mentioned it, Jean realized it was true that Zed was not the type of person get in the middle of things.
This whole thing with Avery was solely because of her.
Jean smiled.
"So this is what happened," Jean sighed. "Avery and Moore went to the same college. And Moore and I are best friends now. Before Avery came to this country, she sent a message to Moore, asking if she could meet up with him. T
"Do you know what you did wrong? It's alright if you just wanted to own me. But you should not have helped Molly leave me!"
When Brian learns the truth, there is no chance for Hannah to win his heart.
Molly, who wants to run away from Brian, seems to be the only one to blame for Hannah's misfortune...
'I don't think Zed would go through all this trouble for something irrelevant.
But yesterday, although we only met briefly, I got a bit suspicious of Moore when Zed greeted him.
That's when I noticed that Moore looked more at Jean than his own so-called girlfriend.
Now I can see why all of this was a problem for Zed.
It suddenly made sense why he personally called me.
The best way to deal with a man that's been coveting his wife is to make sure his girlfriend is still around.
I just don't understand why Moore would long for Jean since his current girlfriend is literally an international superstar.'
Juan shook his head, swatting the question away.
They shared a lighter conversation after that. The food they had there was quite hearty. "Ah, I'm so full!" Jean exclaimed as she swallowed her last bite. She slumped back on her seat and gave a small stretch. "Oh, Juan. I'm sorry. Did you enjoy your meal? We can have steak for dinner. All this local food must not appeal much to you," Jean said, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Don't worry about me, Jean," he said with a reassuring smile. "I am not particular about food. I also meant it when I said that I wanted to experience the Chinese food culture here. Besides, if I don't like the food, I'll let you know," he said with a soft chuckle. Jean let out a light giggle of her own. Their laughter was shortly cut when they heard a familiar voice nearby, calling out to them.
"Yeah, he's not as reasonable as you think he is," the voice said. "Stop treating him as if he's a normal man."
