All of a sudden, both Zed and Jean turned to the direction of the footsteps at the same time. They were in shock when they saw who it was.
It was Juan. He was in a mess. His clothes were rumpled and his hair all messy. Juan had a worried look on his face as he ran towards them.
"Zed, what's wrong with Tina? Is she okay?" asked Juan in a trembling voice.
"She's still in the emergency department," Zed replied in a solemn tone. "May God help her. When we found her, she was already unconscious. We don't know how many sleeping pills she had taken or when she took them. I just hope we weren't too late..."
"My God!" Juan suddenly turned ashen when he heard the severity of the situation. He felt his strength give way and collapsed into a heap on the floor.
In a daze he stared blankly at the door of the emergency room and whispered, "You'll pull through. May God help you. You will be fine. Don't leave me alone..."
"Juan." Jean turned to Juan with tears in her eyes. She couldn't help but comfort him, "Don't worry, she will be fine. She loves you and wants to live. She won't leave you alone like this."
"Love me? No! That's bullshit! If she loved me, she wouldn't have tried to commit suicide! She has been in the emergency room for a long time. Why hasn't she come out yet? Why did she have to do this? Good God! It's me, I have killed her. If I allowed her to be with George, she would never have done this. But I was too selfish. I couldn't bear the thought of her leaving me. I didn't want to end the engagement. It's all my fault! I'm such a selfish bastard! I did this to her, I..."
Juan was too grieved to finish the sentence. He blamed himself and believed that he was responsible for her attempt of suicide. His eyes were filled with tears. He was filled with such self loathing that he began to hit himself with his fists repeatedly.
Jean couldn't stand watching him hurt himself and went to stop him, but Zed stepped in before her.
He grabbed Juan's hand and shouted at him, "I know what you are thinking about. You are sad and regretful. But you can't punish yourself. Tina is still in the emergency room and we don't know if she will pull through or not. The only thing that we can do now is to pray to God. You can't hurt yourself. You have to be strong for her."
"You are right." Juan calmed down and composed himself. He got onto his knees and closed his eyes praying. He prayed with his heart and soul for Tina to pull through.
Jean heaved a deep sigh. She
"Do you know what you did wrong? It's alright if you just wanted to own me. But you should not have helped Molly leave me!"
When Brian learns the truth, there is no chance for Hannah to win his heart.
Molly, who wants to run away from Brian, seems to be the only one to blame for Hannah's misfortune...
her hand gently on his shoulder and said, "Juan, it's okay. Tina has lived through the crisis. She is stable. She will wake up at anytime. You really need to get some rest. You look really tired. I believe that Tina will be heartbroken if she wakes up and sees your gaunt face. So don't torture yourself. Go to have a shower and a good rest."
All of a sudden, the words worked. Juan regained his energy again. He turned away slowly and looked up. "Jean, thank you very much. I'm fine. You're pregnant, so you need a rest. Tina is fine now. You can go back with Zed. I'll stay here with Tina."
"Okay, I understand. Stay here with Tina in case she wakes up. But before I go, here is a letter for you. It's written by Tina," said Zed. He handed the letter to Juan and gently squeezed his shoulder.
Juan looked up and tears filled his eyes again as he saw the familiar handwriting on the letter.
"No, I don't want to read it. All I want, is to watch her wake up." Juan put the letter on the table and shook his head with pain all over his face.
"Juan, please read it," said Jean. She went to him and continued, "Don't you want to know what's in the letter? Tina wrote it before she tried to commit suicide. Aren't you curious about the content? She wrote all of her feelings down for you. You should read it carefully and respect her wishes."
She patted Juan's shoulder encouragingly. She took the letter from the table and handed it to Juan and left the ward with Zed.
Now, only Tina and Juan were left in the room.
Juan sat frozen in the chair. He didn't have the courage to read the letter just yet. Instead he watched Tina with sorrow in his eyes.
