"Ivy, I can't believe all that has happened to you so far." Kai patted her head, he genuinely felt her struggle. But she remained the same girl he knew, she was loyal to the end and fierce and feisty. In the end, she triumphed over everything that was thrown at her.
"It's all good now, just life lessons." Ivy took a drink and glanced at Kai, she took everything as it came in life. She and Noah had got through it all together in the end. Thinking of Noah she smiled.
She hadn't realised that they had sat together talking for a few hours now as they swapped stories, time flew and it was just like old times in that dusty computer room.
taking out her phone she checked for a message but Noah had not replied yet, he must have been busy. There was no way he wouldnt reply to the flirty message that she had sent to him.
Kai noticed her actions and frowned as a thought passed through his head, afraid of the reply he didn't ask if she had a boyfriend. He didn't want the illusion that it was just the two of them again against the world like back in school to fade just yet.
If he couldn't be her boyfriend he still wanted to be part of her life as her friend. But he held hope in his heart that maybe one day they could be more.
Meanwhile, Teo hadnt taken his eyes off the two on the sofa and although nothing had happened he still wasn't sure what Noah would think of the whole situation. Feeling a tap on his arm he turned to see Thomas and he felt instantly relieved, should anything bad happen he had trustworthy backup.
"Hey, Thomas," Teo responded to the tap on his arm.
Thomas folded his arms across his chest and took in the scene in front of him, the two sat at a distance from each other on the sofa and surrounding them was a mixture of both Noah's and Kai's guards.
"What should we do?" Teo asked.
"Nothing," Thomas answered flatly, what could they do?
"Nothing?" Teo was surprised by the answer Thomas gave him. He had expected Thomas to help him separate the two.
"Noah left instructions to give Ivy privacy when she is with her friends." Thomas had thought that this may have been an agreement between Ivy and Noah after he had spied on her that time she was with Jamie and Pierce. All they could do was follow instructions.
Thomas could only see two friends catching up. There was nothing untoward happening. But Thomas did see the glint in Kai's eyes as he looked at Ivy as she spoke. That look he recognised as more than friendship, he saw hope and love in his eyes. Was it the love between friends? Thomas wasn't sure but he was sure his boss would easily defeat any love rival.
Teo could only stand uncomfortably and wait to go home.
Back at the table, Ivy realised that the bottle of whiskey was empty and they had gotten through a whole bottle together. She felt slightly tipsy and so she set down her glass before speaking, "I can't believe we have chatted the entire evening. I'm sorry if I took up your evening."
Kai laughed and patted her head again, reassuring her, "This was a perfect evening, I am glad I bumped into such an old friend." He smiled at her.
"So why did you come here tonight? Were you trying to pull and I interrupted your evening?" Ivy giggled as she asked. Pierce had often told her she ruined his evening and couldn't find himself a girlfriend while she was around.
Kai fixed his hair and frowned as he replied, "You have not interrupted anything, you made my night. I was here this evening for business. I recently got myself into something and I need to get out of it so I was seeking some assistance."
Ivy sat up straight and listened, she wanted to help," Can I help? Who were you looking for?"
Kai laughed and wanted to hug her, she really hasn't changed at all he thought. He held back from hugging her, "I was looking for an acquaintance, his name is Noah Adler you would have heard of him his name is all over the press. We have a few business deals and I wanted to make him an offer so I could hopefully get his help."
Ivy was stunned and then she realised that she was being silly, of course, the two may have crossed paths and even had business dealings with one another. They were both elite businessmen, but would Noah help Kai?
He might if she asked him, so she asked Kai, "Is it legal or illegal business?"
Kai nodded, Ivy was still very intelligent, "Illegal… I thought it was all above board then I soon realised the business I had helped was shady. For me to untangle myself from them I either need money or someone like Noah to help me. I don't know if you know but Noah rules over illegal and legal businesses. People can't make a move unless he allows it."
Ivy nodded, of course, she knew what her lover was. But she respected his privacy and never asked too many questions about his illegal businesses. This had always worked for them. She could easily hack into his computer and he may even tell her if she asked but she didn't want to know. As long as it didn't affect their relationship she would let it go.
Ivy glanced up at Kai, "I can help."
Kai flat out refused, he didn't want her involved in anything that may hurt her, "No, no thank you."
Ivy crossed her arm, "Why don't you want my help? I used to help you all the time in school."
"Exactly that was back in school… it wasn't illegal nor was it dangerous," Kai responded.
"I think jumping off the cafeteria was dangerous." Ivy smiled up at him.
"Yea and you were stupid then for doing that, so thanks but no thanks. I don't want you to get hurt again." Kai kept firm as he refused her help.
"I jump, you jump remember," Ivy responded and stood up and walked over to Thomas and Teo.
Kai shook his head and watched her approach two of her men. Wait, why did she have so many guards following her?
