Chapter 123 - First Quest

After receiving my guild card, I ask the receptionist.

"does that mean, I can start doing quests?"

surprised by my question, she answers.

"um yeah, but don't you want come back later, after getting some rest."

I stand up and smile.

"nah, I'm good to go."

as she points at a huge bulletin board across the lobby that is surrounded by other adventurers she says smiling.

"quests are posted there daily, and since you are an E Rank, you should do quests that are on your level."

I respond.

"got it, thank you ms. uh."

I then ask her while scratching my chin.

"sorry what was your name?"

she answers.

"Yui Sato."

I slightly bow my head in gratitude.

"thank you Ms. Sato."

"your welcome, and once you find a quest that you want to do, just come see me or the other receptionists at the front desk."

I nod and make my way to the bulletin board and take what kind of quests they have available, I then read all of the E Rank one to myself.

"potion delivery, herb collecting, goblin nests, and

merchant transport protection."

I look at some of the goblin nest quest and think to myself.

"I did something similar, I destroyed a goblin nest by myself when I first entered dead pass forest."

I grab one and head towards the front desk, where I hand the quest paper to Yui, she looks at it and asks.

"huh, you are doing this by yourself?"

I reply.

"yeah, I don't see why not, is there a problem with that?"

she shakes her head.

"no, its just that, adventurers usually do the quests together."

I reply.

"I see."

she then asks.

"do you still want to accept this quest?"

as I respond by nodding, she continues.

"okay, here you go, clearing the goblin nest near Ortulion Village, for the reward of two gold."

I reply.

"thank you."

as I head out of the guild building, I hear Yui's voice say to me.

"good luck."

after leaving the building a group of three adventurers stop me before leaving the area.

"hey, wait!"

I turn around and see three female adventurers behind me, I look at the one in the front, who is wearing a navy blue hooded cloak, a brown leather shirt, brown pant shorts with a black leather belt, black leggings underneath her pant shorts, and brown knee high boots, she takes off her hood and asks revealing her short braided ponytail black, and hazel blue eyes.

"hello, do you intend on doing that quest alone?"

I nod and give her a straightforward answer.

"yes."

the shortest one on the right of her, with red twin tails, and brown eyes wearing, the white and blue magic knights armor, says with a rude attitude.

"eh, aren't you just an E Rank?"

I reply giving her the same rude attitude.

"yeah, got a problem with that?"

she grits her teeth and shouts.

"do you know who I am!?"

I then think to myself.

"damn this brat is annoying."

I respond sarcastically.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't realize it."

she knew that I didn't mean the apology that I gave her, she growls and snaps at me.

"I was at the big fight against the vampires!"

I roll my eyes and say with the same sarcastic tone.

"oh so impressive."

she clicks her tongue at me, and then the other one, with long flowing, orange hair, with glasses and light blue eyes, who is also wearing similar clothing to the one in the middle, steps in to calm the short girl in the magic knights armor.

"take it easy Jill."

the one with the braided black haired ponytail, clears her throat and says to me.

"sorry for that, my name is Grace."

she points at the short girl in the magic knights armor.

"that is Jill."

and then she points at the other one trying to calm her down.

"and that is Bell."

I shake her hand.

"my name is Collin Belfaust."

as turn around to walk away, I say.

"now if you'll excuse me, I've got a quest complete."

but Grace stops me and says.

"hold on, since it's your first quest, we are willing to help you."

I reply.

"I appreciate the offer, but I would rather do this alone."

she asks dejectedly.

"is there a reason why you don't want our help help?"

I respond.

"not really, but why do you insist on helping me?"

she points at Jill and says.

"you got her attention because, she sees great potential in you."

Jill gives me a scornful look and scoffs.

"as if, I would see any potential in that rude man."

I reply.

"since she doesn't seem to thrilled about me, I'll just go about my day."

Grace replies.

"she doesn't mean that."

I sigh defeated and say in a very uninterested tone.

"fine you can come along if you want, but we won't be splitting the reward equally when we finish the quest."

Jill replies.

"we accept that condition."

I look at all three of them and say.

"alright, let's go to Ortulion Village then."

they follow me outside of the city, and and as we pass the carriages, Grace exclaims.

"hey what are you doing, the carriages are back there."

I reply.

"well I was planning on walking there."

Jill angrily replies.

"are you insane, it will take you forever to walk to the village."

I sigh frustrated.

"fine, we'll take the carriages there."

we climb aboard the carriage heading towards Ortulion Village, and as we take a seat, I ask all of them.

"so what are your guild ranks?"

Grace answers.

"I'm an A Rank."

Bell Answers timidly.

"I'm a B Rank."

Jill answers proudly.

"and I'm an S Rank."

sounding unimpressed I reply.

"I see."

clearly bothered, Jill angrily shakes her fist at me.

"you are so insufferable."

I respond.

"oh, so the short brat can use big words like insufferable huh?"

she shouts.

"argh, who are you calling a short brat huh!?"

I point at her.

"you, obviously."

she grinds her teeth, clearly getting bothered that I called her a short brat.

"it's not my fault, that I haven't been able to grow properly."

she clears her throat and says.

"well it doesn't matter if I'm short anyways, my magical power, is stronger than normal people."

I respond.

"okay I get it, just relax a little."

she asks angrily.

"how can I relax, if you keep on insulting me?"

I answer.

"I'm only yanking your chain, because you're annoying me."

she turns her head away from me with her cheeks puffed out.

"hmph."

after that we rode the carriage to Ortulion Village.
