I finally get summoned by King Dave, after waiting around for a few more weeks, I find myself getting stared at with gazes full of disdain, by many people dressed
in fancy formal clothing, at King Dave's throne room, I then ask myself.
"could they be members of the various noble households?"
I sigh and think to myself.
"I knew, that I was going to have to interact with nobility at some point, but I'm just not prepared to deal with then now."
King Dave makes his announcement.
"I want you all to meet the man who will be responsible for training the new generation of magic knights."
one of the nobles, makes a remark.
"this is preposterous your highness, this man is not nobility."
another one agrees.
"a commoner training, our future magic knights is utterly ridiculous."
"don't act like you don't know, that he was one of the reasons, the vampires failed at fulfilling their plans."
one noble responds.
"we have the hero Leonard to thank for that, because he solved the mysteries of the device that blocked out the sun."
another noble adds on.
"and how can we forget Ying Zhu, the greatest hero of this era."
Ying Zhu, enters the throne room, making sure that his presence was known.
"hold on, a moment, if we are going down this route then, I guess my word carries a lot of weight in this."
he pats my back and continues.
"as the representative of the Zhu household, I will say that, I believe Collin Belfaust, is exactly what our magic knights need."
"thanks buddy."
he replies with a smile.
"anything for a friend."
I then ask.
"so when were you going to tell me that, you were a noble?"
he responds.
"well you never asked."
I chuckle.
"I guess so."
"since they are no more opposing voices in this room."
he stops and points at me.
"I would like for Mr. Belfaust to start as a staff member for the academy, effective immediately."
after the nobles get dismissed, Ying Zhu says.
"it was good seeing you again, and good luck."
I shake his hand.
"we'll see each other again."
after Ying Zhu leaves, King Dave approaches me and asks.
"you ready for this?"
"yeah, as ready as anyone can be when getting tossed into something completely unknown to them."
he replies.
"oh yes, I remember my father mentioning that you have never attended any magic academies."
I reply.
"exactly."
he replies.
"don't worry, we will have someone teach you the
basics."
he notices my worried expression and says.
"look, you'll have a two year trial at magic academy in corpus kingdom to show every noble that you are the right man for the job."
I reply.
"thank you, for having so much faith in me."
he chuckles and says with confidence.
"of course, you have shown me and many others that you are capable of overcoming difficult tasks and this one is no different."
he clears his throat and says while placing his hand on my shoulder.
"now come along, I'll take you to one of the instructors, who has been teaching at the academy in Rozlania for twenty years."
as we walk together, I ask him.
"so has Leonard told you about that dungeon we found underneath Rusllyyn?"
he replies.
"yeah he has told me all about it in great and excruciating detail."
I respond.
"I see, that you are not very fond with his work."
he chuckles.
"on the contrary, me and my father always believed that Leonard's research in the old ones, would one day benefit our kingdom, and to combat the Dragonoids if they ever decide invade."
I ask.
"but would they take a chance and invade us even when we still have humans that are born with the hero's blessing?"
he responds with concern.
"maybe."
he pauses and continues.
"but that is why we are having you train our future knights, so that we can be better prepared for that possibility."
we walk into the the conference room where I am met with many gazes, and as I wave at them awkwardly, I ask King Dave.
"who are these people your highness?"
he answers.
"they are the instructors of the magic academy and they care your future colleagues."
I quickly look at all of them and say.
"it is a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to me you all."
they all take their time to greet me, until one particular man, with a few gray strands of hair and with glasses, takes a good look at me and asks King Dave.
"so this man, will be joining us as an instructor at the academy?"
he replies.
"of course he will, but before that, I need you to do something for me, Gregory."
Gregory replies while adjusting his glasses with both hands.
"whatever you need your highness."
King responds.
"since you have much experience, in teaching, I want you to teach Mr. Belfaust."
confused he asks.
"what do you mean teach?"
King Dave answers.
"well, he's never been to any magic academies, so I need him to have the basic knowledge of our curriculum."
Gregory sighs.
"sure I'll do it."
King Dave replies.
"good now get to it."
before leaving Gregory.
"why are you making him an instructor, if he has never attended any academies or doesn't possess basic knowledge?"
King Dave Responds.
"because he wil bring great change for our magic knights."
King Dave then says to the other instructors, except for Gregory.
"you may all go now."
He looks back at Gregory and says.
"I want you to test him at the end of next month, I really need him available as soon as possible."
Gregory looks at me, and says.
"you heard him, let's get started."
Gregory gave me a full course of what the magic knights learn at the academy, for several weeks, trying hard to rush our progress so that I can take the test, and luckily me and him, I tend to be a very quick study. After taking Gregory's test and passing it, King Dave says to me.
"good luck and I hope to hear good things from King Ryan, at the Corpus magic academy."
I reply.
"I'll do my best, your highness."
