Last Year when I turned ten years old, I took the aptitude test and got accepted into the magical Academy, in the Capital City of Grezia, and it was a dream come true for me and my parents, Marie and Leon Belfaust, who completely overjoyed that I'm able to follow my father's footsteps.
I wake up with my mom waking me up.
"Sarah sweetheart, it is time to return to the academy."
I yawn and reply.
"I know."
I think to myself.
"the academy really need to give us longer breaks to, so that we can spend time with our families."
I groan.
"hopefully this year isn't as boring as last year."
I sluggishly get out of bed and change into the magical academy's white and blue uniform, I then leave my bedroom and ask my mom.
"are you sure, you don't to come with us to drop me off at the academy?"
my mom hugs me, trying to hold back her tears.
"no, because it will be hard for me to say goodbye and let go of you."
I hug her back.
"well it's not goodbye forever, I'll come back again when we get our break."
she wipes her eyes and sniffles.
"I know sweetie, but I'm going to miss you so much."
me and mom kiss each other goodbye and I head outside of the house, where my dad is waiting, he waves to come towards him and says.
"come on Sarah, it's time to go."
I approach him and reply.
"I know, I was just saying goodby to mom."
my dad then waves at a neighbor nearby.
"hey how you doing, Reinter?"
a male elf who recently moved to our village waves back with a smile.
"very good Reintar, how about you, Leon?"
he answers while placing his hands on my shoulder.
"just escorting, my daughter back to the magic academy at Grezia."
Reintar replies.
"oh, then it looks like we are heading to the same place."
my dad asks.
"your son turned ten this year?"
he nods.
"yes he has and since your human academies are starting to accept the other races in the alliance, I wanted my son to attend to one, since we are living here."
my dad replies.
"well we better get going then."
As I follow my dad to the carriages, Reintar stops
us.
"hey, you guys can ride with us, instead of taking the public carriages."
"thank you Reintar, we will gladly accept your offer."
he replies.
"alright, let's head to the back of my house, where my private carriage is at."
my dad grabs my hand and says.
"okay, Sarah let's get going."
I w.h.i.n.e.
"but dad, my friend Jessie is going to ride the public carriages."
he replies while still holding my hand.
"don't worry, you and your friend Jessie, will meet up at the academy."
"I told him, he didn't have to wait inside the carriage."
my dad lays his eyes on the carriage in awe and asks.
"is the upkeep for the carriage and the horse expensive."
Reintar chuckles.
"it is a bit costly, but it sure beats, riding the public carriages."
he offers his hand to me and says as he helps me get inside the back of the carriage.
"there you go, young lady."
I reply with a smile.
"thank you."
"alright, here I come."
Reintar replies.
"you don't have to ride in the back, come to front with me, and I'll give you some basic lessons on reining horses."
my dad eyes light up with excitement.
"really? alright let's do it then."
he looks at me, like he forgot that I was here and asks while clearing his throat.
"will you be okay here without me?"
I sigh.
"of course, I'll be okay dad."
while my dad and Reintar quickly head to the front, I think to myself.
"at least I'll have some peace and quiet now."
but it seemed like I spoke to soon, because Reintar's son, moves close to me and shakes my hand.
"hello my name is Reintar, um well Reintar the fifth, and it's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you."
I reply.
"I'm Sarah."
he then asks.
"are you also taking the aptitude test or the academy?"
I shake my head.
"no, I already took it last year, so this year will be my second year there going back there."
he then asks.
"so then you must know, about the new changes coming this year."
I reply.
"yeah some guy who was brought in at the Corpus academy, is being transferred to the Grezia academy starting this year."
he nods.
"yeah, apparently his way of training magic knights, have yielded results that impressed the kings."
I ask curiously.
"how do you know all of this, if you haven't attended the magic academy yet?"
he answers.
"my dad knows people, and since he figured out that the new instructor will be coming to the Grezia academy, he wanted me to attend."
I reply dismissively.
"it's not that big of a deal, I'll bet that he is just like any other instructor."
that seemed to quiet him down, as we take the long and silent journey to the capital city. We finally arrive, outside of the city walls after two days of traveling on the road, I quickly get out of the carriage to stretch my entire body and then ask myself as I look around.
"has Jessie arrive yet?"
I spot Jessie, a girl around my age with brown hair, and light brown eyes, she waves at me.
"hey Sarah, over here."
I quickly say goodbye to my dad, and make my way towards Jessie who is already in line to enter the city, I then slide in next to her and ask.
"how long have you been in line for?"
she replies.
"about thirty minutes or so."
I look at the line and notice a lot more elves, lined up this year, when comparing the first time I took the aptitude rest, I then ask Jessie.
"what is making all the elves come to the magic academy of Grezia?"
she shrugs her shoulder.
"maybe it's becoming the hotspot for the best around the whole alliance."
after entering the city, me and Jessie travel together to all the way to the academy grounds where we spot even more entrants than last year, I then think to myself.
"there must be an explanation on why this is happening."
I take a deep breathe and tap on the shoulder of an elf with black hair and green eyes, and I get taken a back by her and I ask myself.
"is she really an elf, I've never seen an elf with black hair before?"
she smiles at me and asks.
"yes, can I help you?"
I stutter.
"uh yeah, I just had a question."
she asks still smiling.
"a question for me?"
I nod.
"do you have any idea, why there are so many applying to magic academy?"
she nods.
"it may have to do something with my dad being a teacher this year."
I reply with some scepticism.
"I doubt it."
she pouts at me, in a very cute way, but then she calms herself and shakes my hand.
"my name is Hope, and I'll be looking forward to this year."
I reply.
"the name is Sarah, and I hope you pass the aptitude test."
I join back with Jessie, who is already making her
way inside of the academy, where every registered student places their hands on a crystal scanner, that identifies each of us, and then we get directed, towards the academy's auditorium for the big change that is coming to the academy, we fill the place up, by the thousands, and after waiting for everyone to quiet down, someone steps in the center stage of the auditorium and says with a demanding voice.
"my name is Collin Belfaust, and I will be overseeing your training as magic knights for the foreseeable future."
he leaves everyone shocked with his announcement, but the only thing that stuck to me was his name.
"Collin Belfaust."
