Chapter 163 - Rosie's Fate

After returning back home, I got scolded by both Celeste and Ellena, when they saw how my arms

were looking like noodles since I wasn't able to move them around at all, and because I had incurred Ellena's wrath I was stuck getting healed

by a healer at the palace, where I was kept company by Leonard who was studying a book we found on Daurl called Mauri The savior, and as the healer is healing my right arm, I ask Leonard.

"so what does the book say?"

Leonard answers while flipping through the pages.

"it's filled with nothing but stories praising the great savior Mauri."

I ask.

"are any of them true?"

"hey, I'm going to place a sound cancellation barrier spell around you."

without questioning him the healer nods.

"yes Leonard sir."

after placing the sound cancelling spell around the healer he answers me.

"one story is true, which is the one where she was involved in the defeat of the Dragonoids during the great war." I think to myself.

"I didn't know before until you told me and Gale about it."

I then ask Leonard.

"how well did you know Mauri?"

"we weren't particularly close, but I did at one time consider her a friend, until."

he pauses, I then ask.

"was it because she brutally killed your friend Xavier?"

he nods.

"yeah after killing him, she disguised herself as him to sneak into the palace, so that she can kill the king."

he sighs and continues.

"at the time it happened, I had no idea it was her impersonating him, I only found out after some magic knights found his remains with others at a famous family's house where a massacre happened."

I ask.

"was Mauri responsible?"

"yeah he needed something from a guy named Gabriel who was invited to a celebration party for another guy named Helos who apparently took down Mauri."

I then ask.

"how did Mauri sneak and trick everyone?"

he shrugs his shoulder.

"I have no idea, but I'm guessing she somehow obtained a spell that can imitate people's appearance kind of like the famous family that Helos belonged to."

I ask curiously.

"so this Helos guy and his family carried a legendary spell that was in their bloodline?"

he thinks about and replies.

"yeah, I believe so, but I can't seem to remember what they called it."

"I see."

he closes the book and says.

"well it's all history now, the great hero Isaac took care of her."

I reply.

"yeah I know about that part."

he sighs and says with a worried expression.

"yeah, even though the king told me, that

Isaac completely retired after defeating Mauri, the Heroes Arthur and Malika could never find him, almost like he just completely disappeared."

he looks at my right arm, that is still getting healed and asks.

"is it feeling better?"

I reply.

"well feeling in my arm is staring to return."

I then say with sincerity.

"thank you, Leonard for keeping me company, I know last time we didn't leave on good terms."

he replies.

"don't worry about that, you had every right to be angry at me for keeping important information from you guys."

he pauses for a moment and then says.

"and besides, there was something important that I needed to tell you"

I ask.

"what is it?"

he sighs.

"it's something big, that I found out when King Dave punished me and had me spend all my time locked inside my quarters, re reading some of the pre cursors book and I missed something."

I ask impatiently

"well what did you miss?"

he replies.

"your friend Rosie could still be alive."

my heart grows heavy.

"Leonard, don't play around with me, there is no way she is still alive, I mean I saw her vanish right before my eyes."

he replies with a serious tone.

"that's the thing, she and the others that were free from the vampires blood because of the sun, went through a cleansing process when they vanished."

I shake my head in disbelief.

"it can't be true, if she was still alive, I would have seen her by now."

he sighs.

"that is also true, the writings in the book did say that those who were cleansed of the vampire's blood, had a low chance of surviving the process."

I then ask trying not to get emotional.

"so what you are saying to me is that she might have survived the cleansing process?"

he replies.

"there is a very low chance that she did, but yeah it is possible."

I then think to myself with my hopes slightly raised.

"if this is true, I'll have to inform her parents when I go visit my parents."

I shake my head and think.

"no you can't do that idiot, all you are going to do is get their hopes up for nothing."

I then make a counter argument with myself.

"if they are informed that she could still be alive then maybe they can remain vigilant about her possible whereabouts."

after thinking about another thought popped into my mind.

"wait, if she was still alive, then she should have appeared in the same spot where she vanished."

I then ask Leonard.

"hey if she really went through the cleansing. process, then she should have appeared it the same spot right?"

he pushes up on his glasses using his index finger.

"not exactly, if she survived the cleansing process, then she would have appeared somewhere else in this world, or more specifically, where the wind carried her dust particles."

I then ask.

"does that mean she could have ended up in the Dragonoid continent?"

he reluctantly answers.

"it is a huge continent, so it's possible."

I begin to worry and think to myself.

"if there is a slight chance that she is still alive, I will search for her, and maybe even place a quest at the adventurer's guild to find her."

I look to Leonard.

"you don't know how much this means to me, thank you for telling me."

he smiles.

"no problem, it's the least I can do for you."

he then points.

"looks like the healer is trying to tell you something."

after removing the sound cancellation spell, the healer says to me.

"there we go, unlike last time you were here, I was able to heal you."

I move my right arm.

"thank you."

he points at my left arm and says.

"now let's get started on that one."

Leonard chuckles.

"don't worry I'll be here to help you kill the boredom."

so for next hour I sit there as I patiently wait for the healer to finish healing my left arm.
