"I don't think I have the authority to make such a personal decision on behalf of Mr. Bai. I am his guardian during medical emergencies but exhumation of a body has religious sentiments and familial sentiments involved." She paused. "I will have to ask Mr. Bai about this personally before I can give you the final word." She pushed the paper away. "You could also ask Bai Wenxi's mother to sign the papers, could you not?" she asked.
The officer hung their head. "Mrs. Chen Yue has been uncooperative. We allowed her to speak to her son so that we get more information on her involvement in the crimes. It seems that she had some idea about the other charges but nothing on the murders and attempted murders. But she is willing to cover it up."
Qian Meng felt her blood freeze. "Even though her own son was killed?" she asked incredulously.
The officer nodded.
"I'll still press on allowing the parents to decide on this matter. Mr. Bai's lawyer will personally speak to Chen Yue and Bai Ye Qing." She paused. She turned to the lawyer for his opinion. "Before you go in to speak to them, would you mind going over the topics for discussion?" she asked.
"I'll leave the three of you to discuss. I'll log in the interaction however you want to show it on paper," the officer said finally.
When he went outside, he found Mo Qingchen waiting for him. "Mr. Mo," he bowed reverently.
"No need for that," he waved it away. "Will I be exerting power if I wish to speak to two of the recently detained participants in the investigation?" he asked.
"You mean Chen Yue and Bai Ye Qing?" the officer asked, sure that was what he meant.
"No, I wish to speak to Bai Ye Qing and Jia Ai, the girlfriend," he said. The officer arched his brow. "I know she was brought in on charges of selling drugs but you want to use her to pry more information and leverage it."
He knew all about plea deals and he wasn't happy about it. That was the primary reason why he had come.
"Mr. Mo, there are bigger hands in this matter. Some powerful people have ties to this case. I don't think—" Mo Qingchen interrupted the officer.
"More powerful than me?" he challenged. The officer spluttered. "Don't worry. My words will not affect any plea deals you offer. On the contrary, maybe it will help you get a deal," he commented. The smile on his lips screamed of danger.
The officer took a step away.
"O-okay," he said finally.
"Great. Let me know where I need to log in," he said casually. "I'll go in shortly after the lawyers get their meeting." His mood shifted immediately. His eyes were still hard but he wasn't threatening anyone any longer.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw Qian Meng coming out of the room.
"All done?" he asked.
She shook her head. "Mr. Bai's lawyer wants to bring up their exclusion from the will, the attack, and other matters. I will act as the sit-in for Mr. Bai. We already spoke to Mr. Bai about this."
Mo Qingchen nodded. This matter was vague enough for him. She wasn't breaking any laws by giving out this information.
"Take your time. Enjoy seeing them like that," he told her. Her eyes flashed, wondering how he knew. "Don't act. I know you're a bloodthirsty shark. Behind that porcelain doll appearance, you're a real monster, aren't you?" he whispered.
"Don't know what you are talking about," she responded.
"Sure. Just enjoy." Enjoy your vengeance, Yun Qian Meng.

Seated in the meeting room were Bai Ye Qing and Chen Yue. They looked up when the door opened and saw the face of their family lawyer and sighed with relief.
Actually, it was Chen Yue who felt some shred of relief.
Bai Ye Qing patiently waited for the ball to drop. But then Yun Qian Meng and Li Jun followed, both son and mother had anger roiling through their bodies.
"What is the meaning of this? We asked for lawyers. Why did you bring her along?" Chen Yue accused. Bai Ye Qing's hands were locked on either arm of his chair, whereas Chen Yue was only cuffed.
This showed which of them was really dangerous. For all the talk Chen Yue made, she was still frightened of the police. Bai Ye Qing, on the other hand, was sure he could somehow get away with it.
"She is here as Mr. Bai's legal guardian," the lawyer mentioned.
"My name is Li Jun, I am Miss Yun's lawyer. I have already had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bai Ye Qing previously. It seems Miss Yun is closely legally related to the Bai family." Li Jun threw a glance towards Chen Yue.
She fumed. She didn't know this specimen, but anyone taking Yun Qian Meng's side was a public enemy in her opinion. Nothing good came from this girl being involved.
Yun Qian Meng hid her smile and prompted the lawyer to speak up once again.
"I have been informed that both of you requested me to represent you. Is that correct?" he asked, his voice monotonous.
"Uff, you've worked for our family for so long. What upheavals have you not seen?" Chen Yue asked, now a little placating.
The lawyer smiled. "Mrs. Bai is correct. But I had to personally inform you that I cannot represent either of you." His voice was booming in the otherwise silent room.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Chen Yue yelled.
Qian Meng flinched at the sudden noise but kept calm.
"Mrs. Bai, according to the contracts signed with Mr. Bai Yu, I cannot represent anyone who has brought him harm or has threatened him. This includes business rivals and those who have used physical violence against him." He looked straight at Bai Ye Qing.
"You believe these nonsensical claims, as well?" she asked. Bai Ye Qing remained silent throughout the conversation.
