When Qian Meng woke up at six in the morning, Mo Qingchen's side of the bed was already cold. She scrunched her brows in confusion as she padded to the bathroom and found it unoccupied as well.
Still, she brushed her teeth and got ready for the day. She was dressed and packed for the office when she reached the dining area. Xiong Hua was standing there, setting the table.
Qian Meng saw a basic breakfast which still looked delicious.
"Good morning," she called. Xiong Hua looked up and smiled.
"Mrs. Mo, good morning. I made your breakfast according to what Mr. Mo has on a regular day. I hope you don't mind that I didn't ask you," she said politely.
Qian Meng waved it off. "Don't worry about it. I am not that picky about food, and I trust Mo Qingchen to have good taste." She smirked. "Speaking of the dragon, where is he?" She looked around, just in case.
"He is in the kitchen, trying to make something." Xiong Hua looked equally confused as Qian Meng felt.
"Can he cook?" she asked.
Xiong Hua shook her head. "I don't know what he is making, but I have never seen him use those ingredients." She laughed.
"I'll check up on him," she said lightly. She sauntered to the kitchen and found Mo Qingchen facing away from her. He was busy with something but the kitchen looked extremely clean.
Qian Meng smiled as she sneaked up on him. She peered around his broad shoulders and saw him pouring out a drink into one of those reusable containers.
"What are you up to?" she asked.
Mo Qingchen hummed, not in the least bit startled at her appearance. "Your iced green tea latte," he said calmly. "We had matcha at home, so I unboxed it and followed the instructions. Drink it and tell me if I got it right," he asked. He handed her the cup.
Qian Meng looked at it curiously. It was a custom container with an airtight lid and all. It even had her company's logo and her name on it. She stirred the straw in the drink as she spoke. "Why weren't you startled when I sneaked up on you?" she asked.
She took a small sip and grew rigid.
"You call that sneaking up on someone?" he snorted. "I could clearly hear you breathing and your loud footsteps," he informed. And then his brows furrowed. "Does it taste bad?"
Qian Meng didn't comment. She took another sip. "Are you saying I breathe funny?" she countered.
"No, I am glad you breathe. No matter if it is loud and obnoxious. I will take it any day," he told her, his brows still furrowed. "Don't change the topic. Does it taste horrible?"
She shrugged. "Have a sip," she challenged.
"I don't like the idea of it, but for you…" he sighed. He leaned down and his lips were over the straw sucking on it.
His expression didn't change. "As I expected, disgusting." He tried to pry the cup away from her. "Give it to me," he ordered when she wouldn't budge.
"You took so much time and effort to make it, I am not giving it back," she pouted. "But why did you make it?"
He stopped trying to take the cup and looked sheepish. "I felt bad for nagging you last night. It's a bribe," he said.
Qian Meng nodded. "You really sounded like a nagging husband. Not a good look on you."
He nodded. "I will try not to do it again."
Qian Meng rolled her eyes. "You're a nag, to begin with. You want everything perfect. I don't expect you to change in a night. Take your time." She stopped sipping at the drink. "Oh, I forgot. I need to rush to my dad's house and return the family registry to Qing Yuan."
Mo Qingchen nodded. "Just have a little lunch and I can drop you off."
She shook her head. "I need to reach before the others wake up. I'll have breakfast later." She pecked his cheek quickly and then sprinted away.
She heard him call from behind, but she was merrily jogging away. Her husband made her a drink to apologize. That was worth something, right?
She pulled out her car from the garage and placed the cup in the holder before zooming off. She called Qing Yuan just in case.
She was going to cut it off, thinking that Qing Yuan wouldn't pick up the call when he did.
"Sis? Why are you calling so early?" he asked. He sounded tired.
"Sorry, did I wake you up?" she asked apologetically.
"Oh, no. I didn't sleep last night. I was working on something." He sighed.
"Right. I am coming to give the family registry back. No one is awake, right?" It wasn't that she was afraid of meeting them. It was about Qing Yuan getting into trouble over something so trivial.
"Yeah. They sleep until eight before dad rushes to the company. You're safe to come now. I will wait near the front door."
The call was cut and it took her a few dozen minutes to rush to the house. Qing Yuan was, as promised, standing in front of the front door.
Qian Meng slipped out of the car and sprinted over to him. "I need to go to the office after this. Don't have time. Thanks!" she rushed.
"I saw the pictures already. Nice… I wish I could visit Bora Bora," he groaned.
"Save up enough money and travel on your own. It's not a place you go with family," Qian Meng told him excitedly.
Qing Yuan huffed. "I can see you had a lot of fun with brother-in-law. Good for you. I'm jealous." He smirked.
"What are you thinking about?" Qian Meng scolded.
"That my sister successfully got the only model available in the world and it chose her!" he barked a laugh.
Qian Meng noticed something from the corner of her eyes. Her focus shifted and she saw Yun Sui Bo coming towards them with a somber expression.
