I tried to enlighten myself on the Heaven Cutting technique. I sought guidance from grandmaster like the shameless old beggar had told me, the heavens were now my teacher. The heavens were a heartless teacher, I had to grasp my own enlightenment on the sword as I honed my techniques.
I practiced the sword technique every day, but could not find any great enlightenment. I knew my time secluded on a mountain was over. A great cultivator couldn't spend all his days in seclusion and reach the peak of cultivation. If you could where would be the struggle of cultivating be?
I had to find worthy enemies to temper my blade. Only then would I be able to have a breakthrough in this Heaven Cutting technique. So I left my lonely mountain in search of other qi-gathering youths to spar with. From this moment on, I will build my reputation as The One Sword, legacy disciple of the Heaven Splitting Sect!
I figured the shameless old beggar probably had a horrible reputation and was quite powerful. So I would shamelessly invoke his name during my travels.
I was 'The One Sword, legacy disciple of the Heaven Splitting Sect, the only disciple of Heaven Splitting master Liang Fen.'
I choose the Scarlet Sapphire Sect as my first place to visit. It was a local sect that I could easily make it to by foot.
I sat outside the grand gates of the Scarlet Sapphire Sect and looked for trouble.
"Shi Da, The One Sword, legacy disciple of the Heaven Splitting Sect, the only disciple of Heaven Splitting master Liang Fen, seeks Qi-Gathering disciples of Scarlet Sapphire Sect for guidance," I screamed outside the gate.
I knew that gate-crashing was considered the rudest thing you could do at a sect. When a disciple went to another sects for gate crashing you were questioning their Dao inheritance. You were telling the whole world that you knew your sects Dao was better than there's!
Every sect within the Moon Dusk World had their own pride. No one wanted to be gatecrashed by others. Some hot-headed qi-disciples would come out looking for trouble with me, to defend the honor of their sect. When that happened I could duel them and test my prowess.
It didn't take long for a bunch of qi-gathering disciples to make it outside of the gate to defend their honor.
The leader of the group was some long-haired pretty boy named Tang Fen.
"I've never heard of this 'Heaven Spitting Sect' or whatever you called it! What right do you have to challenge the great Scarlet Sapphire Sect," said Tang Fen.
"This young swordsman doesn't have time to speak to the likes of you, I want strong opponents, not pretty boys," I said waving around my old rusty sword.
"Wheres your strong disciples? If this is all you guys have to offer, I might need to go look for another sect to test my prowess."
"You!" said Tang Fen.
"It's called Heaven Splitting Sect. I know you are ill-informed and don't know much of the world, but if you talk to some of your elders, I'm sure you would be able to learn about the Heaven Splitting Sect, led by my master Liang Fen!" I shamelessly boasted.
"With one chop, he could destroy your entire sect!"
I had no idea how powerful Liang Fen was, but it was best to boast shamelessly in this situation. I wanted a good fight, so the more riled up I got them the better fight I would get.
Mo An was a chubby boy. He immediately rushed out to fight me.
"Scarlet Sapphire Sutra," screamed Mo An as he started making weird hand signs.
I figured that this was how these guys battled, so I did what he did.
"Earth Splitting," I said as I chopped towards Mo An.
I had never really been in combat before, so I couldn't really control the power of my attack.
With one chop, Mo An was flat on his ass. My power surprised me so I shamelessly started boasting even harder. I channeled the swagger of the old beggar.
"All you other sects are only the training grounds for the Heaven Splitting Sect. Send out someone stronger to face my blade," I said.
Tang Fen was infuriated after watching his junior brother Mo An get beat so easily, so he headed out to fight. He couldn't have this little beggar ruining his sect's dignity.
"I'll fight you, you caught Mo An by surprise because he just started learning at the Scarlet Sapphire Sect, but I've been practicing the Scarlet Sapphire Sutra for 3 years and I'm the most senior brother within the qi-gathering stage. It's time you learn your place, little beggar," said Tang Fen as he took out a beautiful bejeweled red sword to fight.
"Wait," I said as I saw him pull out the bejeweled red sword. That was definitely one of God's precious resources. I had to reclaim it!
"If I have to fight such a strong opponent, shouldn't you be putting a wager on the fight?"
"What do you have to wager little beggar," said Tang Fen as he stopped in his tracks.
"I'll put my little life on the line if you put up that red sword. My master is too busy enlightening himself on the Dao, so he was unable to take me to the treasure room last time I was at the sect," I shamelessly boasted.
"Good, I'll be glad to kill you to maintain the Scarlet Sapphire Sect's dignity," said Tang Fen.
"Scarlet…"
"Earth Splitting," I said before he could get another word out. I didn't have time to listen to this fool spit jibber jabber. All those complex hand signs and dancing around weren't how this young swordsman practiced the Dao. I just needed to chop at him and finish the battle. He was an idiot as weak as his junior brother.
This young swordsman didn't have more time to waste with weaklings like these, I needed to find stronger people to fight so I can grasp more enlightenment. He already bet, so I was going to take his sword and get the hell out of dodge.
Tang Fen was knocked on his ass just like Mo An before him from my Earth Splitting.
I walked up to the unconscious Tang Fen, picked up my new shiny red sword, and headed off to my next sect for gate crashing. This young swordsman got him a brand new shiny sword!
I can't believe that miscreant would lay claim to such a pretty sword. These are God's precious resources, they should only be in my possession!
I encounter no problems headed to the next sect in my path of terror. Seeing that none of the elders came out after I mentioned Liang Fen's name, his name obviously held weight in the Moon Dusk World. This young swordsman now knew he could swagger about freely!
