158 It Was An Honor To Die By Your Blade!

Name:Devil's Rise Author:Dan_Ryder
These sword scarred brutes on the outskirts must only be appetizers. They understood little of the Sword Dao. Unfortunately for them, I was no teacher. I was an executioner. Those that are weak should be reaped.

Their souls should not even be able to pass peacefully into the afterlife. Their souls… Their precious souls should also be God's precious resources!

"Who are you?" I heard a voice boom out from the heavens.

"I am Soulless, a young devil lord that strikes fear into the heart of all men. The reaper of souls, the enslaver of races, and the slaughter of worlds," I said.

"I have returned!"

It felt good to be back! I had been lost in this soul world for a long time. Only fumbling by from my basic instincts, while experiencing Shi Da's life. These humans disgusted me. They were worse than devils. A devil could betray anyone but his clan for power.

I couldn't believe what happened to poor Shi Da from that Shi clan. I will make it my duty to enact revenge for him one day, wiping out the Shi clan from the Moon Dust World. Since I had to experience such tragic emotions then they should rightfully pay for the death of Shi Da's dearly departed mother.

They can join Shi Da and his mother in hell!

I need to finish learning the Sword Dao to exit this Soul World. I will carve a bloody path out of this stupid human world.

"Fresh…"

*blah*

I dissected another one of those sword scarred thugs. Unfortunately, the creatures in this soul world were only shades of their true selves. Nothing here had an actual soul for me to absorb. The only use for this Soul World was to learn the Sword Dao, nothing else had any meaning.

I continued to walk through Sword Gash Ridge, killing everyone I found with one slash. Eventually, the sword scarred thugs were no longer chasing after me, they were running away when they caught sight of me. I guess they weren't retarded, anyone who could make it this far into this area without sword scars wasn't 'fresh meat' but a butcher.

I had not found anyone worthy of crossing swords with. All the sword scarred fools on the outskirts were trash without a doubt. Soon the blue haze grew denser as I traveled deeper into Sword Gash Ridge. I knew if I practiced my sword techniques here then I could have very fast gains.

But nothing helped to train the sword like a battle of life and death. If I died in the soul world the most that would happen is I got rejected, losing the opportunity to steal more Shi Da's insights. Right now I already knew his training technique, so that wouldn't be too massive of a loss.

I would fight on the edge of life and death within Sword Gash Ridge to quickly bring my swordsmanship up to his standards and possibly surpass them.

"A little brat like you dares walk this far into Sword Gash Ridge. Where is your master?" said a long haired swordsman smoking a cigarette on a cliff.

I blew away the cliff he was standing on.

I didn't have time to waste like Shi Da speaking to these stupid human memories. Those that met me would die.

The long haired swordsman wasn't a pushover like the sword scarred brutes I had met before. He easily jumped off the cliff avoiding my Earth Shattering.

"You want to challenge me little brat? I'm ranked 984 on the Sword Chart!"

"Earth Shattering"

Why do these foolish humans keep wanting to talk? Like I give a fuck about a sword chart?

I then rushed at him and proceeded to engage in melee combat after my sword slash was parried. He was not an easy opponent. We crossed blades many times before he decided it was time for him to open his stupid mouth again.

"You may have the ability to challenge me! But you'll never take away my position on the Sword Chart!"

"Shut up and die already!"

"Earth Splitting"

"Earth Shattering"

I used the two attacks in tandem this time to break through his defenses. He died with his eyes wide open as my blade piercing through his heart.

He then proceeded to cough up blood and say.

"You were a worthy opponent! It was an honor to die by your blade."

"Shut up and die already!"

I then cut off his head, I didn't want to hear the death throes of a stupid human.

I noticed something strange then, his sword shattered after his death and the number 984 appeared on my sword's blade. I guess this was how these stupid humans determined their number on the sword chart. It was some kind of ranking system. They probably took immense pride in how high their number was.

This young lord doesn't care about a stupid sword chart, but how dare this place not rank God's precious resources as #1! I would cut a path of death through this stupid Sword Gash Ridge until it understood the truth.

After getting number 984 on my blade I no longer saw any of those sword scarred thugs, that I could chop down like grass. They avoided me like the plague. I decided to practice my techniques a bit for the day instead of walking deeper into Sword Gash Ridge.

This young lord had gotten tired from walking all day. The best thing I could do was temper my blade to gain a better understanding of the Sword Dao. The technique taught by Shi Da's shameless old master was truly profound.

It was a pure way to cultivate, Dao understanding and cultivation realm were interlinked together with this technique. This was probably the most esoteric cultivation technique I had learned. Only the sword and nothing else.

The only difficulty was every breakthrough in cultivation would require me to gather my own enlightenment on the Sword Dao. Self-enlightenment was like climbing a cloudy mountain with no guide. Every technique I had learned so far were instructional, you followed steps to increase your understanding. That was very different from self-enlightenment.

For example, when I needed to break through to Viscount I studied the '108 Paths of Damnation' to achieve a quick breakthrough. Self-enlightenment would mean understanding the Devil Dao enough to garner my own breakthrough, instead of studying the works and words of predecessors. The two were nothing alike.

Humans gathered qi or whatever to increase their realm from my understanding. Any stupid human in the Moon Dusk World could gather enough qi stones and swallow enough pills to attempt a breakthrough in realms without learning Dao. So this system was ten times more difficult than a normal human cultivation path.

Humans were a lesser race with very short lives, they needed to increase their cultivation to lengthen their lifespan. So those that were untalented in the Sword Dao would die young trying to trying to tread the path of this strange cultivation system. Thankfully I was a devil.

This technique would reach the peak in my capable hands!
