Chapter 11

“Miss.”

At her cry, Jerome, who had been the butler of the Stud family for many years, came up from the stairs to the second floor.

“Jerome, my father?” “Calm down, Miss.”

As soon as Jerome saw her, he quietly blocked Helena, who rushed up the stairs. He reassured Helena for once with his usual calm tone.

“The master is safe. There is no problem with his life.” “Ah, that’s a relief. I’m really happy. God, thank you!”

Tears streamed down from Helena’s eyes. They were tears of relief. Jerome’s words melted away the anxiety and fear that had gripped her all the way home.

“Thanks for letting me know, Jerome.”

Helena said, wiping away her tears. She had no mother. Her mother died of an illness before Helena was less than four years old. So, Helena’s family consisted of a father and an older brother who was three years older than her. Helena went really crazy when she heard of her father’s accident.

“How is my father, Jerome? I need to see my father right now.” “Miss.”

It was when Helena headed to her father’s bedroom with a noticeably brightened face. Jerome grabbed her arm with a slightly dark expression.

“Jerome?”

Helena’s blueish-gray eyes once again panicked at the unusual atmosphere.

As she stood up, Jerome realised that he had overreacted, and spoke softly as if to comfort her.

“Don’t worry, Miss. The master is really fine. But he seriously injured his right arm.”

“Right arm…”

At that, Helena took a deep breath.

“The doctor said it would take at least half a year to fully recover. If he is unlucky, he may lose his right arm. The outcome is unpredictable, so he will have to treat it to know what will happen.”

Helena’s face turned white. There were two famous costume workshops in Siern.

One for ladies, , and the other was for nobles run by her father, Raynor Stud.

The Stud family is a family of craftsmen who has been in the family business for five generations, and Raynor Stud, in particular, possessed outstanding skills that earned him the title of the best tailor in the kingdom.

The clothes made from such famous were monopolized by the king and the high-ranking nobles who were close to them. Although the Studs were mere commoners, they enjoyed considerable wealth and were revered as a venerable family that even the nobility paid tribute to. Such a father having an injured arm like this.

“How is my father now?”

“After taking the medication prescribed by the doctor, he fell asleep. The doctor said that it would be best to take some medicine and sleep for a while to relieve the pain. They say it will help him recover.”

“I see.”

Helena, who understood the situation, nodded in a calmer voice.

Jerome, realising that she was no longer feverish, gently released his hold on Helena’s arm.

“With the master in such a state, there’s still something that the Miss should know about.”

“What is it?”

“Let’s go to the master’s library for a while.”

“Wait, Jerome. If it’s possible, I want to see my father’s face with my own eyes.”
