Chapter 41

Ling Xuan stared at the girl coldly with an intimidating gaze, having struck fear into her. However, the arrogance on her face did not lessen.

“I never thought the fog dispelling orb I took was a clone. No wonder it was so weak. Like I said, as long as your father is willing to hand over the fog dispelling orb in exchange for his precious daughter, I’ll definitely return it later.”

“That belongs to us. I’ll rather feed it to the dogs than give it to you,” the girl growled through gritted teeth.

“Then I’ll feed you to the dogs.”

Hearing those words from Ling Xuan, a regretful look crept onto the arrogant girl’s face as she went silent.

Ling Xuan leaned over sideways to have listened and vaguely heard those chasing them had almost reached the tunnel. Having frowned slightly, she looked up at Chu Chen who had been on her shoulder. “Can you help me watch over her?”

Chu Chen had been caught off guard, then nodded solemnly. To be fair, the moment he landed on Ling Xuan, his mind could not have helped but replayed the scenes from that intoxicating night, having felt a little shy.

There had been a strong scent on Ling Xuan that had especially been alluring for him. Having heard her request, he naturally volunteered himself.

He even spread his wings and flew to a tough iron ore nearby, then clawed at it with his steel-like claw. The fist-sized chunk of iron ore had immediately crumbled as though it had been made of tofu.

At the sight of that, the arrogant girl gasped immediately.

Ling Xuan gave an Chu Chen an approving look. “I’ll go and settle this. You keep an eye on her. If she causes any trouble, just poke a few holes in her.”

Chu Chen’s mouth twitched, then nodded in acknowledgement.

After Ling Xuan went out in a flash, Chu Chen could not have resisted checking the girl out of curiosity. This girl looked very beautiful with her slanted eyes and arched eyebrows that matched with her oval shaped face. Her thin lips pursed tightly. Having judged from her tattered long white dress by sharp blades, she seemed to have endured some rough treatment.

Despite that, she still carried an arrogance that emanated from the very fiber of her being, a superiority that pushed the others away.

Although having looked pitiful, it had been unable to have taken away her beauty from her stunning appearance. She had an excellent curvaceous figure with slender legs. Even in the darkness, Chu Chen’s keen eagle eyes could have still clearly made out the voluptuous curves that made his heart race.

‘This is definitely a treasure,’ Chu Chen appraised silently in his mind.

“Hey, you…can you understand human language?”

Chu Chen stared at the girl and vice versa. Seeing the human-like behavior of the eaglet, she finally worked up the courage to have asked after having hesitated for a moment.

Chu Chen’s eyes twitched, then nodded. To be honest, he had been bad at communicating with beautiful girls.

“I don’t know what that demon girl did to have you listen to her. From the looks of it, both of you didn’t form a blood pact.” The girl bit her lip. “I’m the daughter of Secret Sky Sect’s master. If you help me cut the ropes on my body and let me go, my father can give you anything you want. What do you like? Meat? Spiritual herbs? Or beautiful eagle ladies?”

Chu Chen’s mouth twitched like crazy, having given off an awkward expression. ‘What’s this? Bribery? You’re bribing an eagle?’

“Y-y-you…what do you want?” The girl stared at him expectantly. Seeing that, he felt that she had been quite pitiable and gave rise to an evil thought that had been in his mind.

He considered for a moment, then flapped his wings and flew to the girl. He stood on one foot and used the other to scratch a horribly crooked word on a piece of flat iron ore—Pet.

An eagle’s claw was not as dextrous as a human’s hand, having caused Chu Chen’s handwriting to have been rather horrible, as though it had been abstract art. However, it had still barely been legible. The girl had been stunned upon seeing the message. “Pet? What pet? You want to be my pet?”

Chu Chen shook his head, then took a few steps back. He remained standing on one foot and scribbled with his other foot again—Master.

After having written that, he pointed a claw at “Pet”, then at the girl. After that, he pointed at “Master” before pointing at himself, to have made the message abundantly clear.

The girl before him immediately turned scarlet upon seeing that. Her fair face took on a furious expression. “You mean to have me be your pet? You want to be my master?”

‘Smart girl!’ Chu Chen nodded happily. Writing with his claws had been very tiring, much more so than running.

“You’ve gone too far!”

The girl had both been angry and scared as she glared at Chu Chen. Her expression was one of utter disbelief. “Since ancient times, humans and spiritual beasts had always taken the roles of master and servant in a blood pact. Never has the role been reversed! Moreover, I’m the First Miss of the great Secret Sky Sect. How can I serve under someone to be their battle companion?!”

Chu Chen smacked his beak, then flew back on a big piece of iron ore without having looked at her. Instead, he started clawing around playfully. Each time his claws came in contact with the iron ore, he left behind a deep scratch mark.

Scratch, scratch, scratch…

For a moment, the entire tunnel had been left with the high pitched sound of his claws scratching against the iron ore.

Blood drained from the girl’s face.

She suddenly realized that the eaglet had just been an eagle, an animal, rather than a person. Although it could have understood human language, it had still been an animal.

Since it was an animal, she should not have hoped for it to have any sympathy like a human would. Seeing that pair of claws having cut through the iron ore like tofu, her heart grew anxious.

Having considered how the eaglet had been a team with the evil demon girl, she concluded that it would have also had a ruthless character. If it was unhappy, it might have just left a mark on her own beautiful face with its claws…

Having thought of that, the girl shuddered as a wave of fear washed over her as she gripped her heart tightly.

Right then, it was as though the eaglet had seen right through her, it suddenly raised its claw and waved it menacingly at her…

“Ah! No! I-I-I’ll submit, okay? I’ll submit as your servant! Let me go. I don’t want to spend another moment in this horrible place!”

The sounds from the iron ore having been destroyed finally cumbled the last line of resisting thoughts in the girl. She screamed out loudly trying to have suppressed the endless fear that welled up from within her.
