Yelena's hand that Felix avoided was still in the air. With pain, she stared at him who didn't even return her gaze. Then she slowly put her hand down. It was followed by a tormenting silence for more than a minute.
Did he change his mind? Were all these too much for him? What should she do? Yelena wasn't sure. The pressure and thoughts only made her heart ached more! She holds her head and groaned in pain.
Seeing her in pain, anxiety rushed through him once again. Just for a split second, he lifted his hands and reached out to her but halted. He can't bring himself to touch her as guilt was swallowing every inch of his body! He retreated and put down his hand. All these actions went unnoticed by her.
"I will call the doctor." He said and quickly rose from his seat. He turned around but she grabbed his hand, taking him by surprise. He stood still in his place, paralyzed.
"I need you more." She muttered, slightly lifting her head to look at him. He remained still but he didn't look at her.
"I'll be right back," Felix spoke up after a few seconds, breaking free from her grip. Then he walked towards the door.
"If you walk past that door now, I will never forgive you."
Yelena's sudden declaration instantly made him halted. Once again, he stood still without any movement yet his mind never rests.
He knows her well. She was a woman of her word. He also knew that she was serious. She will never forgive him? Nothing scared him more than that! All at once, he lost all his energy to walked out of the room.
Yelena stared at his back. She can't see his face so she can't even guess what he might be thinking. What if he still insisted to leave the room? Will it be really over for them?! Just the thought of it was so tormenting!
As each second passed, her hope faded bit by bit and the pain became worse each time. She almost lost hope until... he turned around and glanced at her with his dim eyes.
"I think I lost my way. I don't know how to go on." Felix muttered. Then he hung his head low as he felt too ashamed!
Yelena stared at the broken Prince. What was she supposed to do? His pain broke her too yet she can't leave him alone. She wanted to be the one whom he could rely on.
"Then come to me." She finally spoke up. Her gaze still fixated on him. "I will be the light that shone upon your every road."
Felix darted his eyes to her. Her warm gaze and her unchanging heart; did he deserved it? No, but he realized one thing. He needs her to survive. He loved her and what's more, she still loved him too.
Even after going through such things because of him, she didn't want to give up on him. She remained unyielding. Though he won't dare to ask for these things, he was grateful for it. Can he really continue to be with her?
Suddenly, he ran back to her and hugged her. He keeps tightening his grip around her body as if she was someone whom he desperately searched for years. Placing his chin on her shoulder, his eyes were teary red.
"I was so afraid to lose you. What if he did something worse to you? I won't be able to live on if that happens." His voice was low but horror was evident in it.
"Don't think about that anymore. I'm still alive, thanks to you." She calmly consoled him and caressed the back of his head.
"You must be so shocked and scared. You willingly followed him because he is my cousin." Felix pulled back and observed her. "Did he hurt you anywhere else?" He lifted her hands and saw the marks created by the ropes. The wounds on her back lingered in his mind. His face darkened at the marks on her hands.
"I'm fine. This is not a big deal." Yelena said, holding his hands.
"I will surely make him pay for what he did. I won't show him any mercy no matter what." He grunted as he tightly clenched his fist.
"Where is he now?" Yelena asked. She can't recall anything that happened after Felix and the Agents entered the warehouse.
"He is locked up for now. He will be sent back to Edeladon early in the morning. Then the law will punish him." Felix narrowed his eyes, nervous. "I have to return too. I need to take charge of everything related to this case. But Yelena, I'm afraid that we won't be able to keep our secret anymore. You are the victim of this case and - "
"I know. Don't worry, Felix. I'm prepared for this. Punishing Alonzo for his crimes is more important than keeping our secret."
"You might even need to come to Edeladon to testify," Felix said, apologetically.
"If that's required, then I will do. No problem on my side but... what about you? Will you be fine?" She asked, meeting his gaze. She saw the pain in his eyes.
"I have to be. He is my cousin but he's a murderer. I might be the Crown Prince but I have no power to forgive him." Felix heavily sighed. "I'm worried about Aunt Gianna. She will be heartbroken when she heard about her only son. I wish she never has to hear the truth."
Talking of his aunt, the Prince was lost in his thought. He sat still with a fully occupied mind while Yelena gazed at him the whole time.
"Please give me some time, Yelena. I will return and sort things out there. Focus on your recovery and if your presence is required, I will personally come to escort you to my country." Felix finally said after a few seconds of silence to which Yelena nodded.
"I heard about Colonel Maverick. What will you do now?" He worriedly asked.
"I'm not sure." Yelena let out a sigh. "For now, I have to wait for the address first. Colonel Maverick said that I will receive an address if something happens to him before he could tell me. But I need a phone. I lost it."
"Don't worry. I will take care of that. But... I think it's too dangerous. It's clear that Colonel Maverick was murdered. What if something happens to you too? I think the enemy find out about your cooperation. That puts you in a very dangerous situation." Felix was in a dilemma. How can he leave her alone after knowing what happened to Colonel Maverick?!
"I know but my mother troubled me more," Yelena uttered. It's almost an hour but... her father and grandfather hadn't returned yet. What's taking them so long?! Will her mother be okay?
"What about your mother?" Felix promptly asked, confused. He just returned to the hospital after running away for almost three hours. He didn't know what was going on.
"She collapsed and she was brought to this hospital. My father said that she needs a heart transplant. They even... " She paused, recalling what happened. "They even keep it a secret from me and my grandfather. This is too much!" She grunted.
What if her mother didn't collapse tonight? Will she never be notified of her disease? She was her only daughter! How could her mother keep this from her?! She wondered how long had her mother secretly dealt with heart disease. Was this the reason why she changed so much in the last months?!
Felix was stupefied at the news! Mrs. Arista was brought in to this hospital?! Why did misfortunes strike them simultaneously?!
"I think your mother doesn't want to make you worry. Don't overthink and recover first. She will be fine. I will also look for a donor." He assured Yelena.
Felix thought about Cayden's death and his funeral that he missed due to Yelena's abduction. He wondered if he should tell her about the death but he felt hesitant. He would only make her more worry about him while she should focus on herself.
"While you were missing, I think that I was about to go crazy but I thought of what you told me in the villa. You said that even if something happens to you, I should have faith in you. Even if you're stuck in a life and death situation, you will give your all and a little more just to make sure that you could see me again. That's what you said and I put trust in that." Felix earnestly said to her with a smile.
"Thanks for remembering that. While I was in the warehouse, I can't do anything due to the drug but I believe that you will search for me. That put me at ease." Yelena stated, meeting his gaze with a smile.
After staring at each other quietly for a while, Felix suddenly rose from his seat. "Come. Let's go and check out your mother."
Yelena raised a brow. "Are you serious? I thought that you will try to make me stuck in this bed."
Felix glanced at one corner and then take a wheelchair that was placed there. "I will bring you there but you must sit on this wheelchair."
Yelena stared at the wheelchair with displeased written all over her face. Her legs were fine! Why would she sit in a wheelchair? It will be so embarrassing!
