Chapter 81 - Stupid

"Happy birthday, son! We love you!" His mom's voice looked hype but I can't turn my head to face them.

I think they hugged again.

"You're so handsome tonight, everyone's talking about you," She giggled.

"Well..I'm your son, of course!" He doesn't intend to boast because that's his parents.

"Happy birthday, son. Your car is in the garage now," His dad says.

They're really rich.

"You don't have to give me a new car, Dad,"

"That's nothing, son. I know how you love cars," His dad chuckled just like his..

"And this is.." I think his mom was pertaining to me.

Fuck! How can I face them?

"Ah!" Edward held my waist and turn it to them. "Mom, dad. This is Raine, my friend.. Raine, this is my parents,"

I tried to fight for my anxiety and looked up to face them. A beautiful woman and a handsome man appeared on my face. They're smiling beautifully and their eyes are like teasing Edward.

I forced to smile even if I felt like my stomach is cramping. This stupid introduction to parents is killing me, grr.

"N-nice to meet y-you, Mr. and Mrs. Evans.. I-i'm Raine S-scott.." I bit my lower lip in embarrassment.

I don't know why I felt shy at a time.

They looked at each other and laughed. I suddenly felt conscious when they teased their son about me.

"My son is a little serious sometimes, but I can assure you that he can be the sweetest when he's with you.." Her mom giggled while holding a champagne beside Mr. Evans.

"Mom, I'm just serious when I don't know the person," Edward groaned.

"I know, and girls sometimes hate that,"

His eyes widened and turn to me. I want to laugh at his reaction. He's cute and I chuckled.

"Is that true, Raine?" He looked serious while asking me.

I wanna laugh again but I just held myself.

"Yeah. You looked grumpy when someone you don't know laid their eyes on you," I was like laughing again especially that his mom was joining me to tease his son.

She's cool..

I felt comfortable now that I get to know them. I thought they're going to kick me out of here once they knew my background but they're opposite of what I am thinking. They're kind and a loving parents. I can't help but to envy Edward..

"I hope you're enjoying this party, Raine," Mrs. Evans hugged me.

I smiled and nodded, "This party is so beautiful, Ma'am,"

"Oh cut the 'Ma'am', I'm not old enough," And we all laughed together.

Mr. Evans whispered something in her ear that made her turn to the way where we entered earlier.

"So, they're coming?" She looked excited.

When Mr. Evans nodded, she giggled more and turn to us.

"Your cousin's here, you didn't tell us!" She looked happy while looking at the entrance.

I was kind of clueless since I didn't know who's his cousin that they're talking about.

"It's not a surprise anymore if I told you, mom," He grinned.

"Well, it really surprised me son. He always refused our invitation and I'm going to charge him tonight!"

"Mom, you know he's not a party guy."

Edward shook his head and turn it to the entrance where a gorgeous and a hot man caught everyone's attention.

The way he waved his hair on the other side, the I know this is him..

His pale charcoal eyes are shining from the reflection of lights and his chiseled figure that I always admire.. He was shining like he's the one who has this night. I cannot take my eyes off of him, he underrated and all the embarrassment inside my body blew away and replaced it with those butterflies in my stomach.

Damn. He's damn hot in his hair and the black blazer and t-shirt was actually fit from his body.. The black slacks that emphasizes his long legs and those black leather top-sider shoes..

Shit. He's so gorgeous!

The whole crowd was in awe on the sight of him now. Even Edward's parents, they're smiling at him now like they missed him for a long time and they're glad that he's here now.

"That's my cousin," Edward whispered on my ear that even shocked me.

So, he's the cousin that they're talking about!

Shit. How can this be happened? How!?

But when I turn to Noah I was literally stunned when I saw how Dana came behind him and try'na chase Noah.

Don't be surprised, Raine. Of course, they're together!

But even if that's the case, I just can't help but to feel sad..

"He has changed a lot, son! He's more mature and handsome!" Mrs. Evans blurted.

Yeah. He's so handsome that I want to cry now.

I'm so stupid!

"Sorry, I didn't tell you earlier. He's really secretive, he doesn't want others to know that we're related," I can hear the disappointment in his voice. "But you're not others to me, that's why I want you to witnessed this.."

So he invited me too because he wanted me to know that they're cousins?

Well, if that's the case.. I was kind of surprised. That I didn't know how to process all of this.

Fuck.

"I-i thought you don't k-know each o-other.." I stuttered while looking at Noah and Dana who looked good together in their attires.

They started to walk towards here when they saw us. I can't see any emotions in Noah's eyes when he turn his eyes on me.

His hand was lifted to bear with Dana's arm. I didn't know why he looked so distant towards Dana. I've never seen him this serious before..

"Sorry, he just wanted a normal life where his relatives can't meddle with it," Edward shrugged.

"But why?"

I asked. I turn my eyes at Edward who's now smiling at me. I was a bit surprised with it so I immediately moved back.

He chuckled and winked at me. "Just ask him later, you seemed close when you talked before,"

He saw us? When?

I want to ask him more but Noah caught my attention. He's now here in front of us, looking good and serious while looking at me.

"Noah my dear!" Mrs. Evans hugged him and kissed his cheeks. "I missed you! We haven't seen you for a long time and this great son of us haven't told us about you. I'm happy that you're here!"

And because of that, his attention diverted on Mrs. Evans, he smiles at her and give some respect to the elder.

"Sorry, just had a tough life. I want to stand on my own," He looked like a different person now.

"But your parents can provide your needs--"

"You know, I don't want that aunt," he smiles.

I don't know but I can see a bit discomfort in his face and his voice. I think that he doesn't want to talk about his life with others. And that others is me.

I released a heavy breath and glanced at him for the last time. I'll just stay away from them and I'll go back when they're done. That way, I could give him a freedom to talk to his family.

There's still a lot of things that I didn't know about him and one of that is this..

I turn my eyes at Edward who looked so happy now. I can't hurt him because I love his cousin. This isn't right. I shouldn't drag him to my misery. I can't be selfish to him.

"Uhm. Edward," I called him using my finger in his arms.

He immediately glanced at me and asked me why.

"I need to go to the restroom, can you tell me where is it?" I asked.

"Oh sure, I can lead you there," He acted to accompany but I stopped him by grabbing his tux.

Shit. I think I've ruin it.

I bit my lip when he turn his eyes on me. He looked confused so I just gave him a fake smile.

"I want to go alone, stay with your family I know you missed your.. cousin," I glanced at Noah who's now looking at me again.

I looked away and pretend not to care about his presence. "I can go back, Raine. You might lost here,"

I gulped. Their house is that big?

"Don't worry, I'll asked others when I feel like I'm lost. Just stay here, okay?" I didn't let him finish, I immediately excuse myself from his parents and started to walk away.

But he suddenly grabbed my waist to stop me. My eyes widened to what he did so I immediately tried to get out from his grip. But it's too tight.

He smiles and turn his eyes on his parents and Noah. I can't even deny that Noah's dark stares were on Edward's hand around my waist. He clenched his jaw and when he turn his eyes on me, I could see the anger in it.

I felt nervous in his reaction. It's like anytime, he would take me away to Edward and punish me all he wants. Fuck! This is nuts.

"I'll just accompany her, we'll come back when she's done," My hands are cold now.

When will I get home? I wanna go home now!

"No problem son, make sure that when you get back you already win her heart," His father chuckled.

Noah's fist clenched and it makes my heart race very fast! God! I really need to get out of here!

"Excuse me, I really need to go to the restroom now," The tension is unbearable now.

"I'm just kidding, Raine. Okay?" His father chuckled and nodded.

I just gave him a smile to show my respect. "Edward, stay here. I'll be back,"

My voice is full of authority so he didn't protest and stay there. When I think that I've gotten far from them. I feel like I can breathe now. I held my chest and massage it but I gasp when some suddenly grabbed my wrist and pushed me inside the room.

I want to shout he crashed his lips on mine. I tasted the champagne in his lips and it made my heart pound so fast.

I will never forget the taste of his lips..

He pinned me on the wall and kissed me more. The anger and roughness in his action as he deepened the kiss was making me more tempted.

Shit!

"Damn. Why are you doing this to me?" He stopped and his tears began to fall down.

"How can you make me feel crazy like this baby! I'm going crazy thinking that he was touching you where I'm always careful on holding you there..It's not okay to me, baby.. Damn it!" Then he left me there.

My tears fell as I watched him walk away from me.

Fuck! What did I do!
