Chapter 7 - Ch 7 : Prologue And The Motherly Love Of The Boss-wolf

One Minutes… Two Minutes…

Ray had lost count on how long had he been stalling for the Boss-Ape.

It might be only one or two minutes out there, or even only a few seconds. But to Ray, the time passed was like Eternity.

His arms have long gone numb from the clash, and his mind has been fatigued with all the dodging and calculation he needed to do to minimize the damage he got. Even the Wolf-Pup was now lying motionlessly in Ray's shoulder.

It was one of the impacts of the Boss-Ape's attack that accidentally struck the wolf-pup. Luckily, Ray was in time to save him and put him upon his shoulder. If not, the wolf-pup maybe has already reached the afterlife by now.

*Boom*

Another crash between Ray and the Boss-Ape happened, and Ray was blown away while still trying to protect the wolf-pup in his arms. Sometimes he thought that it might be better for him to die now. He has done enough, and the things happening now were already out of his capability.

However, every time he saw the Wolf-puppy laying motionless on his shoulder, Ray's determination feels like getting lit once more.

A little bit more.

You can do it!

You have known the feeling of being left alone, and you obviously don't want this little pup to feel the same!

Many thoughts resurfaced in Ray's mind. But the only thing he knew was he needs to hold on, he needs to be strong, or else his effort up until now will turn into waste.

' I'm not gonna let you die.'

Time passed with Ray still trying to hold on against the boss-ape on his own. He looked at the surroundings and noticed that the situation of the wolf camp was getting more and more helpless.

The numerous number of wolves before was now reduced to less than a tenth of its previous glory, and many amongst them were injured from the siege of the monkeys.

But just as their situation was going to be turned for the worst…

"Aooooo"

A majestic sound roared on the battlefield, and everyone couldn't help but stop and stare at the source of the sound.

Eventually, Ray's efforts paid off. The Wolf-boss came at the battlefield, this time with a new form that was multiple times stronger than before.

And with a blink of her eyes, the Wolf boss created a giant wind blade that decimated half of the monkeys' troops.

BLAST~!!!!!!

One wolf, One Giant blade, and the tides of battle instantly turned.

The Boss-wolf, who finished decimating half of her opponent troops, jumped and came at Ray's side.

" Human, hold on for a while."

A roar came out from the Boss-Wolf mouth, and a wind sphere appeared surrounding them.

" Now, we can talk without worrying about that nonsense."

On the other side, Ray was shocked hearing the Boss-wolf's words. He never thought that the Boss-Wolf could speak in the same language as him.

" This.."

" There are many questions that you don't know the answer human. I know you still have many questions, but I don't have much time left. If you could, please bring my child to me."

Ray was a bit startled, but he quickly recovered. He brought the unconscious Wolf-Pup to the Boss-Wolf side and let them have their moments.

" Thank you, human."

The Boss-wolf looked at the unconscious Wolf-Pup warmly, and from her body, a great amount of light transferred into the unconscious Wolf-pup.

This.. Ray, who stayed on their side during all this process, became speechless. At first, he thought that the Boss-Wolf had returned and they would soon begin their counterattack, but after observing the Boss-wolf condition clearly, he realized that it wouldn't be the case.

Ray could see the injuries of the Boss-wolf bodies that started to appear after some of the light transferred into the Wolf-pup body. It seems she was using a lot of her life sources in exchange for this power.

The return of the Boss-wolf this time was not to end the battle, but instead...

" It seems you have recognized my thought, human."

The Boss-wolf, who had finished transferring some of the light into the wolf-pup, moved her glance to Ray.

It was only a soft voice from the Boss-Wolf, but somehow Ray could feel pain in his heart. The Boss-Wolf was not returning to end this battle, but she returned to ensure her child's safety.

From the start, she had observed how Ray was protecting the Wolf-pup during the battle, and now she had decided to leave her child with Ray.

" Human...."

" No! We could still win this battle. And if we don't, you could just run away! You are strong, strong enough to run from this battle. This wolf-pup.. what do you think he would feel if he woke up only to realized that his parents have sacrificed his life so he could escape safely!"

Ray couldn't hide the words in his heart anymore. He was an orphan, so he never felt the warmth of having a parent by his side, but the thing he was sure of was that the love of the Boss-wolf to her child is real.

" *Pant-Pant* I..."

Ray unconsciously said everything that had been panted up in his mind. He looked at the Boss-wolf, ready to face her anger. But instead, he could feel a gaze of a mother looking at her children.

Unknowingly to Ray, tears started to fall from his eyes.

" Thank you for thinking about my child human. If I could, may I know what your name is?"

" Ray... It's Ray Sanjaja."

The Boss-wolf closed her eyes for a moment, and Ray could feel a power started to spread out through his body.

" Thank you, Ray Sanjaja. My name is Fey, the Boss of this wolf camp. I thanked you for everything you have done for this camp, but this camp has reached its end. My leniency had made my liege weaker, and I must be responsible for their demise. Now, I only hoped that My child could escape from this battlefield. He is still young, and he deserved to have more adventure in this world."

Suddenly a breeze of wind appeared around the Boss-Wolf, and guide the Wolf-Pup into Ray's arm.

" I had given you the Blessing of Fenrir, Ray. I could see that you are different than other humans I have seen before. Thus I hoped you could protect this child away from this place. And, if you may... Please give my last word to this child when he wakes up."

The Boss-wolf looked at her child one last time with melancholy in her eyes.

" My child, I'm sorry that we could not see you grow up. I'm sorry that we could not stay with you during your biggest moment in the future, but please remember that we will always look after you from the above. You are our pride, live your life to the fullest and remember to not have any regret. And one last thing... We will always love you."

The Boss-wolf finished his sentence and Ray couldn't hold back his tears anymore. The purest form of love was the love from the parents to their child, and Ray just witnessed them right in front of his eyes.

The Boss-Wolf turned her body to face the upcoming threat, and soon the wind that surrounded Ray get stronger.

" Go!"

With that words, the wind barrier broke, and Ray was flown away from the battlefield by the Boss-Wolf power.
