Chapter 72

When I awake, I am in a completely different environment. My soul is somehow out of my body, and I am staring at my physical form that is still in a deep slumber. After going through so many surprises, this doesn't elicit a reaction out of me. I am calm and stable.

I look around, my ghostly form moving in the air like a whisk of smoke. This is kind of cool, I think to myself.

Suddenly, a red door appears in front of me, it is wide open. Inside looks like a black whole and I back away from it, apparently I am too slow. A powerful suction force drags my smoke-like body into the door. There's nothing for me to hold on to and it's useless to resist since I do not have the power to fight back. After I enter the door it slams shut behind me, and disappears. Almost as if it was never even there in the first place.

I guess the noise must have woken up Baozi, because he is startled awake from his sleep, but seeing nothing out of the ordinary he rests his head back down, eyes closing.

The door then takes me to an sinister looking landscape. The forest containing dozens of trees is dead, while an evil aura settles over the entire place. It's pitch dark here, I cannot see a anything. Only the chilling melody of crickets humming their song lets me know that I am not alone.

I walk forward to a random direction, I soon feel an unknown thing suddenly prick my side and a gasp escapes my lips. How can I feel? Aren't I not in physical form? What is happening!? So many questions and yet I do not have an answer for any....

I pull away from whatever had stabbed me, touching the spot gently. When I look at my transparent hands again, I see scarlet blood. Huh? I didn't think it had impaled me that deep. It felt like a casual graze. How strange.

It points towards a particular direction. Uh-uh, I am not doing that. I've watched enough horror movies in my previous life to know when and when not to run. I obviously need to delete myself from this situation immediately. I move to turn around, trying to find the scarlet door that led me to this evil place.

But-, it is as if a force is stopping me. I cannot move in any direction except for where the red line is pointing at. Sigh, looks like it's too late to try and escape. I give up on my useless thoughts, and float in the direction given.

I pass waves and waves of dead trees. Weird pictures and words carved onto the poor plants. The images look like they are trying to warn me of something, so I move closer. Hoping that I would be able to understand it. I mean not to brag or anything but I was fluent in four languages back on earth. Maybe one of languages I learnt just happened to be transferred over as well. There are such things as coincidences.

Gazing at the wood drawings, realization soon dawns on me. These pieces are oddly similar to that of Egyptian hieroglyphs. How odd?Back on earth, I use to be obsessed with the ancient Egyptians. Convinced one day that they'd come in alien space craft and kidnap me. Good thing it was just a phase. I stumble a bit with the wording as I am a bit rusty, but the overall message is soon made clear. These are inscribed spells and charms!

For what reason are they here? Every tree I pass either had a spell or a charm that's meant to warn off evil spirits. This place is giving me the creeps. But I can't turn back. Maybe there is something waiting for me at the end? Something that I must see?

The further I go, the foggier the scenery gets. If I had skin there'd be goosebumps trailing up and down my arm. My teeth begin to chatter from the biting cold that seems to never leave this place. So many mysteries!

A gust of wind crashes into my face, blowing my silver locs back. When everything settles, my gaze soon takes in one of the most sickening sights I've ever laid my eyes on!

It has potential, needs some editing and has errors but the plot is good! Also how was you guys day? And question:
