Chapter 136 - Disciple?

Wang Ming followed Xiao Qiang out from the center. The street outside had cleared up now. There were still people having mock fights, but now most of the fake martial artists had left. Probably finding other crowded places to keep earning money.

He thought that Xiao Qiang would care when they walked past the two women fighting in skimpy clothing, but he didn't seem bothered at all but just walked past them. After he was sure that the women or anyone affiliated with them couldn't hear, Wang Ming asked Xiao Qiang. "Don't you feel bothered that they're misrepresenting martial arts?"

Xiao Qiang didn't look bothered at all, he just laughed and answered. "You young ones just do whatever you want. Even though they show off martial arts, they aren't truly representing marital arts. Just let them do what they want anyway, they just want to earn money. Who am I to judge? Maybe they don't want to do it, but the job feeds their families."

He then waved his hand to Wang Ming and started walking.

Wang Ming wanted to ask why they just didn't take a taxi or drive a car. But after following Xiao Qiang for 15 minutes, he finally understood why. They had entered a part of Liaoling city Wang Ming had never been to ever before, the slums. There are other smaller slum areas in Liaoling city, but this is the biggest one of all slum areas in Liaoling city would probably not even equal to half the size of this place. Therefore, it's also called the slum.

The slums aren't lawless but the police have less control over what happens in the slums as there are just too many people and the streets in the slums makes it hard for the police to patrol. Luckily they won't do anything too crazy in the streets though it happens sometimes, most criminal acts happen behind closed doors.

Wang Ming felt curious about why Xiao Qiang's Martial Uncle would live here, especially since Xiao Qiang is not only rich but powerful. "Senior, are you sure we are at the right place? Why would a martial arts genius live here?"

Xiao Qiang just sighed and said. "It's here, I've been here a few times. Like I said, my Martial Uncle is peculiar he likes to live here. I've offered multiple times to buy him a house, but he's never agreed last time he even scolded me."

Wang Ming wasn't sure if someone living in a place like this could teach him anything good. But Wang Ming stopped that train of thought the moment he realized what he was thinking. He slapped himself hard on the t.h.i.g.hs, which made a loud sound scaring Xiao Qiang who thought someone had shot a pistol.

He couldn't believe his own thoughts why would he think like that? Even though he grew up in a wealthy family, his conditions haven't been the best at all. The last few years after that incident, he had also lived in a slum area. If Aunt Fu and his women didn't think negatively about that, then why should he? Just because someone lives in the slums doesn't mean they're bad or aren't talented. Wang Ming felt ashamed that he even had those horrible thoughts in his head.

Following Xiao Qiang further down the streets, Wang Ming realized that the streets here are even worse than where he lived. Most of the streets weren't straight, there were multiple rocks and water puddles in it, which made walking harder. Not even this: some streets were too narrow, which meant that if someone walked on the other side, they had to walk sideways to fit. Luckily there aren't many fat people in the slums, else it would have been a big problem.

After an arduous and treacherous road, they both arrived at a run-down house. Most of the houses here are all run down. But this house looked the best out of them all. It looked like the owner of the house takes good care of not only the house but also the garden. Most of the tenants here didn't care about their gardens at all. Most only had dead plants in the gardens, but this house had not only green grass but many beautiful flowers and small trees and bushes growing in the garden. It truly looked beautiful.

Xiao Qiang walked up to the door to knock on the door, but before he could even knock on the door a feeble voice came from the inside.

"What do you want, Little Xiao? If it's not anything urgent, then go home I'm in a foul mood!"

The voice of the man inside the house, which Wang Ming assumed is Xiao Qiang's Martial Uncle, sounded feeble. The man sounded like he's two steps from walking into his own grave. But even though Wang Ming thought that, his gut thought that this man would live for not only the next 20 years but even 50, which would be insane.

Xiao Qiang looked embarrassingly at Wang Ming. They had used half an hour to come here, he couldn't just take Wang Ming home at the door.

"Martial Uncle! Today I have a huge surprise for you! Please open the door, I promise it'll be worth it."

"Tell me first what it is, I don't want your dirty shoes in my house."

Xiao Qiang didn't know why his Martial Uncle is so difficult today. He had no problems last time with him, but this time he couldn't even enter the house. Xiao Qiang tried to talk in his most convincing voice, sounding almost like a radio host. "Okay, okay, I brought a disciple for you today! A worthy disciple." But sadly it didn't seem like the voice was enough as his Martial Uncle just said coldly. "Go home."

Xiao Qiang and Wang Ming sighed, hearing the conviction in the man's voice. There would probably be no way to convince him today, so they turned around to walk back to the Wing Chun Center, Xiao Qiang looked at Wang Ming with a sad voice and said. "I'm sorry, Wang Ming. But don't worry, I'll do my best to teach you."

But before they could even take 5 steps from the house, they heard running from inside the house. It sounded like the man had tripped over everything possible to make his way to the door. Hearing the commotion, they both stood still to wait for Xiao Qiang's Martial Uncle.

After a few seconds, the man finally opened the door and ran out while breathing fast. Xiao Qiang wanted to greet him but he didn't care at all instead he grabbed Wang Ming by the arms like a madman and shook him and shouted. "Disciple?"
