Back at home, Alex was planning to make a few Array Plates. He did not buy the Array paper because he had plenty of them from the Gacha.
Out of the array he could make, the barrier array was the common one, so he was planning to make that to avoid raising suspicion from the people around him, especially from the Empyrean Guild.
He only made three Moonstone Barrier Arrays/Runes for the time being, and he already felt a bit drained after making three in one day. He decided to rest to prepare for tomorrow.
Alex might ask Anya to sell the Runes, but it was for later, so he stored it inside his Space Ring and came to the guild on the next day.
Alex was amazed to see Lilian arriving first even though Alex decided to come sooner.
"Ah, you are early today." Ruby greeted him while noticing he was looking at Lilian. "Don't worry. She is like that. You are by no means late."
Lilian then came to him. "The monsters are in Hayes Plain. According to the information, the monster has destroyed two small towns. The monster is moving blindly… Even so, we are going to observe its movement first. So, if we meet the monster, don't immediately charge at it."
Alex nodded. "I know."
"Good. I don't need someone dying on me again." Lilian nodded as she murmured.
"Then, see you in a week, I guess…" Ruby sent them off with a smile.
However, just after coming out of the guild, they saw Seth and the guild master together.
When they saw Ruby waving her hand to Alex, Seth immediately came to Alex and stopped him. "Wait wait wait!"
Alex looked at him in confusion, wondering what Seth wanted to do. He was prepared to do something if he tried to attack him or something.
And it turned out he was right, Seth took out something from his Space Ring and made Alex vigilant. Lilian tilted her head as she looked at them. She did not know why these two became friendly so sudden, as she heard Alex was just a new recruit and did not have much interaction with the other guild members.
"Hey, why is Ruby so friendly with you? She is friendly to anyone else, but she seems more friendly to you even though you are only here for less than a week." Seth asked.
Alex furrowed his eyebrows. He thought Ruby was only doing her job, so he never cared about it. Before he talked, Seth immediately gave him a book.
"I will give you this book if you tell me your secret," Seth said while handing a book to Alex.
Alex took a glimpse of the cover and opened his eyes wide. The cover was a woman in silver hair, making a sexy pose and in a bikini. She was a pretty woman, albeit her chest was flat.
"It was a porn magazine." Alex thought. He never met this kind of magazine in the former two worlds, so it was certainly a surprise to see one in this world. He did not care about the content, he just cared about its existence because he was wondering if the world had something similar from a thing on Earth.
Suddenly, the magazine disappeared from Seth's hand. Alex did not steal it. Instead, it was the old man that suddenly appeared before them who stole the book. He nonchalantly opened it while scanning its content.
"Heh… To think you hide this from me, your father. Still, Are you even my son? Why are all of these girls flat?" The guild master complained to Seth in a loud voice. "If you are my son, you need to prefer it big! Now, I understand why you like Ruby, not Lilian. You idiotic son, I will teach you the blessing of the big chest!"
"Shut up, you damn geezer! Flat is justice." Seth roared back.
"No. Big is the best!"
"Then why do you marry mom? Mom's is not big!"
"I...I don't have a choice!" He groaned in regret.
"What did you say?! Mom is the best. I am searching for one like mom!"
"What did you say?!"
Both of them looked at each other while gnashing their teeth. Even the others around looked at them with weird looks.
Alex was speechless by these two interactions. Suddenly, Lilian grabbed his collar and dragged him away. If Alex could see her face, she was blushing at the moment, not because she was embarrassed, but because she was ashamed by these two. "This is why our reputation in this town is not good. Just ignore them as we have a mission."
Alex was amused by it. He then started walking by himself as they were leaving this two idiotic father and son there. Even Ruby had come back to the guild as she did not want to get involved with these two.
As soon as they got out of the town, they flew toward the north. Lilian asked him a few questions, such as where he lived and such. After all, they did not know what Alex did before he joined their guild. And with his age, he was basically the youngest Tier 5 magician in the continent.
Alex only said he was training inside a forest with his master and came to the city when he passed away. It was also a perfect story to hide his lack of common sense.
However, when Alex told her that, what he got was a weird stare from her. Alex did not know that Lilian could sense his lies. Even so, she kept talking to him, trying to search for more information about him. Of course, this information gathering was in the form of a normal talk.
Sometimes Alex lied and sometimes Alex told her the truth. After pondering all of it, she decided Alex had no ill intention to their guild. He was just a mysterious person without any influence other than their Empyrean Guild.
Because of that, she slowly opened up to him and could keep up an idle talk with him since it was boring if they were only flying.
After three days, they finally arrived at the spot where the monsters last spotted. They followed a trail and found the monster not long after.
The monster was similar to a white tiger. However, it had two tails and two horns, making it look ominous. The height of this monster was ten meters.
Alex then saw a few monsters surrounding the tiger. Most of them were peak Tier 4 monsters while he found three Tier 5 monsters. It seemed these monsters were assisting the tiger.
"This… could be bad. I miscalculated the number of monsters that are following him." Lilian said.
"Can you fight the tiger alone?" Alex asked.
"I can." She nodded with confidence.
"Then, that's good. Leave the other monsters for me." Alex said.
"There are still three Tier 5 monsters. Besides, there are more than fifty peak Tier 4 monsters." Lilian frowned.
"Don't worry. I am used to killing monsters. Those monsters should pose no problem." Alex said.
"No. I can't risk it. You are still a member of our Empyrean Guild, and I can't allow you to do such a risky thing." She rejected his idea.
Alex just looked at her weirdly. He usually dealt with those kind monsters easily and could do practically whatever he wanted. However, he had this superior this time, and she decided everything. This was certainly a new experience for him, albeit he did not really like it.
"It's alright. I know my ability the best." Alex shrugged his shoulder.
She remembered that Alex's strength alone was equal to 3-Star, but this time, he needed to fight many monsters at once. It was different from fighting a single monster.
After a few minutes pondering this matter, she sighed. "Alright. We will retreat as soon as I see you in a bad situation."
Alex nodded.
"Alright." She nodded and flew toward the magical beasts.
The giant tiger immediately roared when it noticed Lilian. His subordinates immediately charged at Lilian, trying to weaken her.
Meanwhile, Alex appeared from the side as he made a few firebirds and rained them with his phoenix fire.
Meanwhile, Lilian was making a bow using her ice element. She aimed it toward the tiger. Suddenly, the arrow was covered by fire, and she released it.
Alex knew she had two elements like him, which were Fire and Ice from his Spirit Eyes. He was surprised at that time since it was the first time he saw a person who had two elements inside their body.
Alex just maintained his firebirds to make sure no monsters tried to approach her. Before long, he managed to make all the monsters, except the tiger, focused on him.
"Fire Phoenix Art, Third Stage. Fire Wing."
A pair of fire wings appeared on his back. A few fire spirals flew out from his wing by flapping his wing. All those attacks were raining down toward the monsters.
He just realized he was too comfortable with his sword as he instinctively wanted to take out his sword and finished all of these monsters.
He then challenged them in close combat. He had thought of a solution to this situation.
Looking at the monsters, Alex punched the air. Surprisingly, a torrential fire current appeared from his fist and flew toward a monster.
Alex was using his Mid Heaven Tier Fire Art, Fire Wave Emission with this fist. Because he was used to close combat, he was planning to take advantage of it and made his own style.
It managed to kill a single monster. Alex then made a round kick and sent a flame wave toward the monsters, killing a few monsters.
The monster arrived in front of him and tried to bite him. Alex avoided it while sending another Fire Wave Emission toward another monster.
With his Phoenix Fire, the monsters were roasted as soon as they were enveloped by the fire. He kept thinning the number of the monsters as he continuously summoned fire from his hands or feet. It was also thanks to his Alchemy skill that he could control his fire perfectly.
This was the style that suited him the best. Although he usually used his elements just to assist his sword and spear, he could not do it in this world as it was a weird thing to have. Even Lilian only had two tiny daggers for precaution as she summoned magic one after another with her hands.
Alex felt he would be able to master his elements if he was practicing like this in this world. Of course, he also shot out a few Flames of Extinction and his Fire Phoenix Art. And with his Pure Fire Element, which granted him the ability to withstand the heat, Alex rained all of his art around him, not caring if it reached him or not.
The monsters kept charging at him with the intention to kill. Alex avoided each of their attacks while killing them. It could be said he had gotten the hang of this fighting style.
"Fire Wave Emission."
"Flame of Extinction."
"Fire Phoenix Art..."
Alex continued killing the magical beasts. Out of the three Tier 5 monsters, Alex used his Flame of Extinction to kill one and engulfed the other one with his Fire Phoenix. He was so intrigued by this new style like he learned the Silver Sovereign for the first time. His movement became more precise and refined.
It was at this time, he managed to kill all of them beside the last Tier 5 monster.
"Roar!" The last Tier 5 monster was an ape. It appeared behind him and plunged his fist toward Alex.
Alex threw his fist against this. However, after fighting for a few minutes, he instinctively released his intent and fused it into his fist.
It reaped the ape's fist and blew the entire arm away. Alex then shot another Flame of Extinction and killed the ape.
"Ah, I use my intent just now…"
