34 Initial Impressions

Sora and his group were the closest to Rhea but didn't really mind being tested first, so they waited for anyone else to answer. After not even a couple of seconds the candidates began to walk up to the sphere and multiple results were being revealed at an extreme rate.

"Wind! 3 Circles!"

"Water! 4 Circles!"

"Earth! 3 Circles!"

"Fire! 2 Circles!"

"Dual Water and Wind! 3 Circles!"

"Fire! 4 Circles!"

These initial results were a huge blow to the candidates who expected to get much higher, whilst Rhea was a teacher at this school she was still shown to be at 10 circles. Most of the candidates just used the fact that she was a teacher as a way of relieving their feelings of inferiority. Rhea quickly noticed the subtle expressions on the candidates faces as they walked away from the sphere and chuckled to herself, this caught the attention of the candidates that were just tested and they were initially offended, but then she began consoling them.

Rh: "I see that you feel somewhat unsatisfied with your results"

The candidates slumped over and nodded slowly, looking defeated. Even if they felt offense to her chuckling she was stronger than them, what could they do?

Rh: "Don't worry about it though"

Rhea put her hand once more on the sphere and the same result appeared, a green glow with 10 red circles.

Rh: "Whilst I am ranked higher than you, I have been here much longer, I was just a candidate entering a new world just like you, and when I got tested back then, I only had 2 circles to my name"

All the candidates were shocked by this fact, but some didn't believe it, even if they didn't know the exact power gap between each number of red spheres, how can someone clear that much distance?

Rh: "I can already tell some of you don't believe me. So..."

Rhea looked upwards towards the ceiling and shouted.

Rh: "Cal!!!"

This shout caught some of the candidates off guard but what caught them even more off guard was the sudden appearance of what seemed to be a teenage boy, who's size suggested he was 13. But the aura he exuded was one that made all of the aura-users in the room think otherwise.

C: "Hm? What do you need Mrs Rhea?"

Rh: "The usual thing"

C: "They don't believe you again?"

Rh: "Well..."

Rhea looked towards the candidates that were just tested.

Rh: "Do you want proof?"

Rhea smiled elegantly. All the candidates nodded their heads, even the ones that weren't tested.

C: "Well..."

The space around Cal began to distort and twist, with a faint blue aura forming around him.

C: "Time : Reverse"

Joe and Indy could immediately tell it was Time and Space Magic but the level that was currently being displayed was far above their own, they watched with expectant eyes.

The room around the candidates suddenly began to twist and distort to, and translucent figures could be seen entering and leaving the room,the speed they were entering and leaving was so fast that they could only be seen as blurs, the sphere in the middle also was flashing with different colours that were constantly changing in millisecond intervals.

C: "10 years..."

The time around them kept reversing.

C: "20 years..."

The flow was starting to slow down, the candidates could start making out the figures of the ones entering and leaving the rooms.

C: "23 years. There you go Miss Rhea"

Rh: "Thank you Cal"

Rhea looked towards the candidates and then around the room. Her gaze fell upon a green robed teenage girl. It was her 23 years ago, looking much more elegant and innocent than she already did. She pointed at herself from 23 years ago.

Rh: "That's me from 23 years ago"

The candidates looked at the teenage girl and couldn't deny the resemblance they held. They believed it was her, they watched the teenage girl calmly waiting for the current candidate being tested to finish before she went up herself. After touching the sphere it glowed green and indeed only had 2 red circles. Most of the candidates were shocked, but some still didn't whether or not it was believable, and one of the braver candidates hesitantly asked.

"Um... can't that just be changed by the one who reversed it? You can do that with Time and Space Magic right?"

Due to the universal uses of Time and Space Magic, such as instant transportation, using time magic to reverse time at a murder to see who the murderer was, or any other use related. It had become a myth in the investigative world that the user of the magic could manipulate the scenes in order to favor the result that they desired. Whilst it was disproven many times in the past many people still believed in the myth. Cal sighed and was about to disprove it once again but was interrupted by Joe and Indy.

J: "Hey..."

Joe's aura spread out across the room, and it was one of the stronger signatures there.

J: "I can guarantee you that scene isn't fake..."

With this aura spreading across the room there were some who definitely knew they were stronger, but with an aura this strong, his word could definitely be trusted. Indy walked up behind him and also spread his aura across the room.

I: "So can I"

Cal looked at them and could immediately tell these two also practiced Time and Space Magic, he smiled and looked at them.

C: "So you two are Time and Space users... with those aura's you guys have some major potential..."

Joe and Indy retracted their aura's and nodded at Cal. With the point proven the time reversal began moving forward at a fast speed before the translucent figures disappeared, Cal also seemingly disappeared along with them. Even Joe and Indy were confused on how he appeared and disappeared at will.

With the point proven that this kind of progress could be made by anyone, the candidates who were tested suddenly grew more confident about their 'unsatisfying results', as if someone who had 2 red circles managed to ascend to 10 red circles, then anyone above that could ascend even higher. Rhea saw their lifts in attitudes and felt happy for them.

Rh: "Whilst I am happy that you now understand. It does not mean you will reach the level that I reached"

All the candidates were confused.

"What do you mean?"

Rh: "Well, any one of you could easily surpass the level I am at. But I worked extremely hard and my limit was the 10th circle. You have to put in the same work if you want to get stronger"

This was a given in their expectations, so it didn't shock them much.

Rh: "Well, shall we resume the tests?"

More and more candidates went up an the results once more began going through at an explosive pace.

"Water! 3 Circles!"

"Fire! 4 Circles!"

"Light! 2 Circles!"

"Earth! 3 Circles!"

The tests carried on with the consistency of the results lying between the 3-5 circle marks. The candidates were no longer worried too much about their levels now though as they believed in the progress they could make. Sora and his group were staying back and waiting, they still didn't mind. Sora would usually be the first for things like this but he felt anxious about his own score because of his circumstances. Maybe something would happen to the sphere as his power was extremely special and he would be found out, he was hesitant to go so he waited, whilst the ones who had been with him the longest found it strange that he wasn't as excited as he should have been but they eventually passed it up to him being anxious, even though even that was rare for him, they weren't too far off in their guess.

More and more candidates went up with no real differences being made in the rankings. With there only being 25 candidates left including Sora's group, the first to go was a group of three people, these three being the ones that stopped Sora and Lux's, Joe and Furwin's as well as Rin and Garoda's fights. Sora snapped out of his anxiousness as soon as he saw these 3 walking up towards Rhea, it wasn't just him either, everyone knew these 3 already as an unstoppable trio, during the wind test they effortlessly cleared the trial and during the battle atop the stone arena they effortlessly blocked any attack that came at them. These 3 were undoubtedly Seth, Natu and Iona, who were all extremely nervous as they had never had to lower their power before to such a small extent before. All of them had similar thoughts in their minds right now...

Everyone watched these 3 with expectant eyes as they slowly walked up to Rhea. Rhea had been wondering about these 3 for a long time now, whilst she wasn't an aura user there was definitely something different about these 3 compared to all the other candidates, she couldn't explain it with words, but to her it felt like these 3 didn't belong to this school, no..., that they had no need to be here, but they were. Rhea also watched them with expectant eyes.

Iona was the first one to go, she had been seen by everyone as a cute girl that was part of an extremely abnormal trio - but she did prove her strength in the fact that she effortlessly stopped a battle between the pets of the two guys who, just by fighting each other alone, managed to wipe out a noticeable amount of people in the arena, the strength of these two pets couldn't be ignored either, as the aura these two pets possessed were stronger than some of the actual candidates. Iona walked up to the sphere and put her hand on it, Seth and Natu were worried about her the most due to her childlike way of seeing things, they didn't know if she was trying as hard as them to hide their power. The sphere began to glow, with a light blue, dark blue and extremely faint blue colour appearing as well as 8 red circles.

"8 Circles?!"

"Forget that she has 3 elemental affinities!!!"

"Is this even fair?!"

"Yo... I don't think I belong here..."

Sora and his group were shocked aswell, to think that this little girl held this much power. Even if they had high expectations they didn't expect this, the highest they had seen so far had been 5, they had been at most expecting a 6. Rhea was also shocked, this was only 2 levels below her after all.

Rh: "Wha..."

Iona looked at the shocked expression on all of the candidates then looked towards Seth and Natu who were smiling joyfully and putting their thumbs up, signalling that she did a good job. Iona smiled and skipped back to Seth and Natu. Seth went up next.

Rh: "Fire? 9 Circles?!"

Rhea knew something was wrong with these people, and she even doubted the legitimacy of the orb, if it wasn't for her years of experience in welcoming people to the school and going through this exact same process, she would say something was wrong. But she trusted in the sphere, whilst it was now her that was feeling a little inferior, she powered through with the same smile.

Rh: "Wow... just where are you guys from???"

The 3 didn't know how to answer so they just said "Somewhere far away"

Rh: "Um... sorry but this red colour is much too dark to be the normal fire affinity, I don't know what I should call it..."

S: "It's fine... just know that it is indeed fire"

Seth walked back to the where Iona and Natu were then signalled Natu to go up. Natu walked towards the orb and had his affinity and power tested.

Rh: "Wind... 8 Circles..."

Rhea gave up on figuring these people out, they were way too abnormal, so she just said it as it was and let Natu walk back to the trio. After that extreme display no one wanted to go up, they would risk a massive blow to their self-esteem if they got a low number like 3 or 4 after that. More candidates eventually couldn't take the deathly silence and hesitantly got themselves tested.

"Water. 4 Circles"

"Ice. 3 Circles"

"Wind. 5 Circles"

"Fire. 6 Circles"

"Dark. 5 Circles"

"Fire. 5 Circles"

To their surprise the strength of the candidates actually started going up, they even had someone with 6 Circles! This somewhat reinvigorated the candidates as they went up to get tested more and more. The candidates were lessening more and more over time until all of them had done, all except for Sora, Del, Rez, Joe, Indy, Lux, Jin, Len, Zero, Rin and Garoda. The group of candidates that, with the exception of Seth, Iona and Natu, were the ones that everyone was curious about. Until now, the results totalled up to about 1 9 Circle, 2 8 Circles, 1 7 Circle, 4 6 Circles, 12 5 Circles, 13 4 Circles, 16 3 Circles, 15 2 Circles and no 1 Circles.

With only 11 Candidates left to test, the eyes around them had been more expectant than ever.
