35 Abnormal Results

Name:Hero's Return Author:Artpyro
Sora and his group were the last candidates left to be tested, after watching all the other candidates they had some pretty high expectations to try and beat, but they all knew that the 3 that all managed to get above 7 circles were unrealistic goals to set for themselves, so they at least wanted to get 4-5 circles at the minimum. Whilst certain people in their group were more willing to throw away logic sometimes they weren't stupid enough to not know when they were weaker than someone. Rhea looked at Sora's group and lightly signalled them to hurry up, as they had been standing still for a while, making the surrounding atmosphere extremely awkward. Sora decided to go up first, with his fight against Lux still engraved into the minds of the candidates, this was probably one of the people they had a higher expectation for. Sora went up towards the sphere and put his hand on it. The red circles began to form with a white light appearing in the sphere and a pitch black darkness, but what was completely different from everyone else was that the light and darkness began to mix, as in they weren't seperate affinities but one type of magic altogether. Up until now anyone with a double elemental affinity just had one colour on one side and another on the other side, with a perfect split in the middle, the red circles kept forming as the colours mixed until it reached it's end result. Rhea didn't know what to say about the mixed light and darkness, this had never happened before. She looked at Sora with confusion and then looked at the rest of the candidates.

Rh: "Um... Dual Affinity Light and Darkness! 6 Circles!"

Sora walked back with a satisfied smile on his face. The others already knew that Sora being able to hold light and darkness was weird, but seeing how it mixed in the sphere further increased the amount of questions they already had.

Rez decided to go up next with Del following behind him, the candidates knew of these two more for the fact that they sacrificed themselves to allow Sora to go forward, whilst they didn't fight to an extreme level like Sora did atop the arena, they still knew that Del and Rez were strong, even if they, as separate people, were weaker than Sora, they were most likely stronger than him as a team. Little did they know that they actually won against Sora in a fight. Rez touched the sphere and it changed into an extremely bright yellow colour, with 5 red circles appearing, Del followed after and the sphere changed into an extremely bright red colour with 5 circles appearing. Both came back satisfied with their results.

So: "Oh I forgot..."

Sora looked around the room and saw a cat playing with a dog.

So: "Rin!"

Rin turned to look at him and quickly ran towards him, climbing up his legs and quickly arriving on his shoulder. Sora looked towards Rhea.

So: "Um... do pets go too?"

Rh: "Anyone who survived the arena is allowed into the school, including pets"

Rhea smiled at him, with Sora smiling back then looking towards Rin with the same smile. Sora walked towards the sphere and held his hand towards it but didn't touch it, Rin ran down his shoulder and onto the hand near the sphere, she then put her paw on it. The sphere turned light blue, with a glistening shine inside it, 5 red circles appeared.

Rh: "Even your pet is this strong... Ice Affinity! 5 Red Circles!"

So: "Alright! Nice job Rin!"

Rin purred and ran back up to his shoulder. Sora petted her as he walked back to the group, Lux watched them as they came back and grew expectant of his own results, so he volunteered to go next with Garoda.

Rh: "Ice Affinity! 6 Circles! Fire Affinity! 5 Circles!"

Rhea first took in the results for Lux then for Garoda, it was essentially the same ranks as Sora's and Rin's just with different elements, they were able to fight to a standstill atop the pillar after all. Lux and Garoda walked back looking satisfied.

Joe and Indy were up next to be tested and both got exactly the same. Rhea seemed to say something to them before they walked back.

Rh: "Time and Space Affinity! 5 Circles!"

Joe and Indy came back pretty satisfied with those results but this left Sora and Lux confused, these two were still the highest ranked people in their small little group.

S: "What? How can you be satisfied with that?"

J: "Hm? Cause it's expected?"

L: "What? You're both just as strong as us right?"

I: "Well yeah"

S: "Then how come you only got 5?"

Joe seemed to come to a realisation.

J: "Oh that's what you mean, well... Time and Space magic doesn't work like other magics, it's not really an offensive or defensive type of magic, it can be both but it can also be neither. It's application is universal, and because of that, people like me and Indy can only really use it offensively because we can use aura too. Without our aura our score would probably be much lower, whilst we are as strong as you guys we probably won't get much higher than you in terms of tests like these"

L: "So what? You're ranked lower because of Time and Space magic? How does that work?"

I: "We don't actually know, that teacher told us it's because of the magic we use but didn't actually tell us why"

S: "What if she's lying to make you feel better?"

J: "Doesn't matter"

S: "How?"

I: "We already know we're as strong as you, so if she says its for a reason we might as well believe it, and if we are actually just a lower rank than you guys, then we just have to work harder to get stronger than you, it's not hard if we're all starting in the same place..."

Sora and Lux didn't say anything back to this.

S: "Yeah, guess your right..."

Now it was time for the newest members of the group to go up. Jin, Len and Zero went up one at a time, these 3 were the most mysterious of the group, whilst Sora could handle Light and Darkness equally and there were actually 2 Time and Space users here, these 3 seemed to be on the same level as the people in the group with no magic specific to themselves, even Rhea was curious as to how their results would appear.

Len went up first, she put her hand on the sphere and it didn't seem to move for a while, nothing happened inside the orb but everyone saw the power she displayed at the arena - so they waited.

After a short while the sphere produced 5 red circles, but those circles seemingly stood on nothing, there was no element affinity. Rhea looked at this with confusion, this had never happened before, she pondered for a while before looking towards the stars above her.

Rh: "Cal!"

Once again a semi-translucent fog began to form, it seemed like a large puff of smoke at first, but it slowly solidified into the image of a small, teenage-looking boy.

C: "Again? What do you need me for this time?"

Rh: "Look at the orb"

Cal looked towards the sphere with a somewhat annoyed glance, but his expression changed when he saw the result, almost as fast as he arrived he disappeared. Rhea took a moment to process what just happened before looking around herself, confused.

Rh: "Cal?! Where did you go?!"

After a short moment of confusion Cal once again appeared in the room the same way he entered, but this time with a shirtless man, the man had well defined muscles but seemed to possess no powers worth anything, no magic or aura could be sensed from him, whilst his body looked good he didn't seem that significant. He had red hair and red eyes as well as red pants that seemed to extend all the way to the floor, anyone would write him off as a normal person, power wise. But the candidates knew more than that, if he was teleported here he must be relevant in some way. Cal had his palm on the mans back and let go as soon as the teleportation was successful, he then pointed towards the orb.

C: "Looks like you've got some new candidates for your class this year"

The mysterious man seemed to be a teacher here. But with no magic or aura what would he teach? He walked up towards the orb and Len who was still near it with eyes that seemed to scan her entire body, Len was embarrassed at first but sensed no perverted intent from the man's eyes, his gaze seemed to pierce her soul. After he finished scanning her he, too, revealed an expression of surprise.

C: "Candidates, this mans name is Ren, you can refer to him as Mr. Ren - he's a physical teacher and is extremely unique in that he has full use over 'Aura Manifestation', whilst you most likely cannot sense anything within him - he is more powerful than both me and Mrs. Rhea combined"

The candidates would have been surprised but they had been shocked so many times today that they had just seen this one coming.

R: "So... you've already accomplished the first level on the journey... Impressive"

L: "First... level?"

Len was confused.

R: "Oh. So you don't know?"

L: "Don't know what?"

Ren sighed.

R: "Well I guess I have a lot to teach you. To attain the first level with no knowledge of it though... it's even more impressive, you must have trained alot"

Len looked at him with confusion but confirmed his claim on her hard training. He turned away from her and looked towards the candidates, scanning for any more who had attained the first level. Only people who had awakened to 'Aura Manifestation' could sense others who had awakened to the same ability, which is why no normal person could see anything emanating from Ren. His eyes scanned across the room and found Jin and Zero, who had also attained the first level of 'Aura Manifestation', he kept looking for more. Which was eventually going to lead to Seth, Iona and Natu. This was a problem, Seth's attainment in 'Aura Manifestation' was far above anyone's here, and the speed in which he could retract it wasn't faster than the man's eyes, their cover would be blown!

As Seth sped to retract it the man's eyes passed him and kept going, without even pausing like he did for Jin and Zero. Seth found it strange.

S: "Somethings wrong here"

N: "Hm?"

S: "He didn't even stop to look at me, even though he should know my attainment is higher than anyone else's here..."

I: "Isn't that a good thing?"

S: "Well... it is but... let's be careful guys. Someone might know we're already here and is spreading the news"

N: "Aren't you overthinking this a little too much?"

S: "Better to overthink in the situation we're in now"

The man's eyes scanned the candidates for a while before he stopped.

R: "I have found two more who are fit to be my students, in the same situation as you"

He looked towards Len, then looked towards Jin and Zero who were standing next to each other.

R: "You two, use the sphere to test your power"

This was a direct request from a teacher, so they basically had to go up now. Zero went first and found that his result was the same as Len's, he expected this though so he didn't mind. Jin went up next and the orb took much longer than it did for Len and Zero, almost 2 minutes to come up with an answer. The orb read 6 circles with no colour.

R: "As I expected, did you 3 travel here together as a group?"

J: "Yeah we did"

R: "And I believe you were leading them?"

J: "Nah, we don't do leaders"

Jin smiled triumphantly.

L: "No"

Z: "He is the leader, he just doesn't like to admit it"

Jin slumped.

J: "Well... I still never agreed to it you know..."

Z: "You didn't have to"

L: "We did"

R: "Well you aren't going to be boring to teach at least"

Ren looked towards Rhea.

Re: "Mrs. Rhea, can I take these 3 now?"

Rh: "What?! I haven't even allocated them to their rooms yet though!!!"

Re: "It's fine, I'll take responsibility for that"

He looked towards Cal and gathered Jin, Zero and Len, afters instructing them to hold hands he put his hand on Jin's shoulder.

Re: "Take us to my training area"

Cal nodded and put his hand on Ren's back, immediately disappearing from the room. Rhea was at a loss for words for what just happened but forced herself to accept it. Sora and his group looked at the spot where Jin, Len and Zero had disappeared.

S: "Man I didn't even get to say bye"

D: "We'll probably see them again some other time"

R: "Yeah"

J: "Well with that done we're all tested now right?"

I: "Yeah, so..."

Indy looked towards Rhea.

I: "What do we do now?"

Rhea looked towards the remaining candidates and before she could even say anything, the entire room seemed to rumble and distort. Everyone quickly balanced themselves to stay on their feet.

I: "What's happening now?!"

J: "Is this another test?!"

Rhea looked towards the surrounding areas, which were distorting and blurred.

Rh: "No... it's an emergency summon by the headmaster, every student in the school is being teleported to the grand hall at once!"

S: "What?!"

R: "Thats so cool!"

D: "Emergency?!"

J: "We haven't even been put into our designated rooms yet..."

I: "So much for a calm start..."

The area around them was now starting to become clear again, but now with a different surrounding altogether, there seemed to be an extremely huge sun above them, but the light it emitted wasn't blinding, it was just the right amount. This grand hall was more reminiscent of a grand colliseum than a hall for meetings, this colliseum was mostly white, with gold plating everywhere, it was like a luxurious party for only the richest to attend. This specific building was only half of a colliseum though, with the rest expanding out into an extremely large field, but what surprised the candidates the most is that now they could see all the students, and the number was nothing to laugh at. There were students on the ground with them that expanded for miles and miles on end, the colliseum-like building they were in were surrounded by pedestals and chairs of which most were already filled, the skies were filled with teachers and students. Students flying by themselves, on magic items and monsters like dragons and pheonixes, carpets and one even seemed to be surfing on a flying wave of thousands of singular swords. Even Ren, Jin, Len and Zero could be seen in the distance form where Sora's group was standing. Whilst there was a sky above them it was filled with an extreme amount of students with different areas of study too many to count. Del immediately guessed that they were in a seperate space, this grand hall was most likely made with the goal to be able to fit all these people in the first place. They were given mere seconds to look at this spectacle before a single booming voice silenced all the confused murmuring from the emergency summon.

"Welcome, Students of my Starseeker School!"

Every single on of the students here, no matter how powerful or special looked towards the direction that the voice came from. They found a man floating in midair, whilst the thousands and thousands of students served as a blockade for most, almost every single one of the students here had a way to pinpoint the location of the voice and listen as well as see the man. This man was the Legend at the very top of the chain in the school, the man who made the entire thing possible. Asurea, the Starseeker.

A: "Now I know emergency summons are always confusing and always a spectacle..."

Asurea had a cloak that covered their entire body, it shined with the deep and beautiful spectacle of the stars, everywhere he moved they seemed to stay static, leaving his cloak as he travelled left and returning as he travelled right, like his cloak was a door into a separate dimension filled with nothing but stars. The cloak itself was also very large, as he floated high above the ground in midair, the cloak seemed to trail behind him for miles on end, making him seem like a god, encapsulating so much space with his presence alone.

A: "But this is an extremely important occasion"

Asurea pinpointed Seth, Natu and Iona and sent them a signal to meet with him after then looked towards Sora for a brief moment, Sora noticed this but treated it as him just staring randomly, as there was no way someone so high would pay attention to him this early. At least that's what he thought. Seth sighed in resignation.

Se: "Damn..."

N: "Well... covers blown..."

I: "And we tried so hard too..."

Asurea chuckled to himself after seeing the reactions from these 3 Legends. Asurea himself was ranked in the upper 10, which means he wasn't as strong as Seth and Xion but could easily beat Natu and Iona. After sending this signal to them he looked towards the expectant gazes of thousands of his students and opened his mouth to speak once more.

A: "We're making some changes to the system that we have used for so long..."
