380 Giving Trouble

After speaking with Saavi for more than an hour, Mika cut the connection.

The off chance that the King would take an interest in Kamryn' and Lula's reputations was slim, which would mean that the King might've have guessed who help Ailwin out in the Rowood City.

With Ailwin making trips to the academy, she should have realized that the King would come to that conclusion.

Mikaela was thinking about the best course of action to take when someone knocked at her door.

\"Come in.\" Turning off her monitor, Mika walked to her little two seater table and made herself something to drink as her visitors walked in.

\"Mikaela…\" Ailwin walked in with a solemn Braeden walking in behind him. \"Braeden has something he wants to say to you.\"

\"I'm listening.\"

Ailwin nudged his friend over.

\"I-um….I'msorry.Canyouopenthehatchplease?\" The words flowing out of his came out so fast, Mika wondered if she heard him correctly.

\"Excuse me, could you say that one more time. I couldn't understand you.\"

\"You-\"

\"Cough! Cough!\" Ailwin stop Braeden when he was about the lose his temper, reminding him that they needed her help.

\"Sigh...I am sorry for the way that I had acted, and I am hoping...I...am hoping that you will be to let Shadow Wolves on the warships.\" With his head down low, Braeden couldn't bring himself to look into Mika's eyes as he spoke.

\"Hmmm...I see.\" Sitting down with her back straight, Mika sipped her drink like a proper young miss.

\"So, you will open the doors?\" Braeden asked again.

\"Yes…\"

Happy that this humilation wasn't as difficult as he thought it would be, Braeden clapped his hands in a joyous mood and began walking towards the door.

\"Come on, this get those doors open then…\" Braeden walked out of the room with no one following behind him.

When he realized that he was in the hallway by himself, he turned back around.

\"Why aren't you following me to the warships?\" He asked of both Mikaela and Ailwin.

\"I told you before, I will open the doors when I'm ready to open the doors.\" Ailwin didn't bother moving because he knew Mika had given in to Braeden too quickly.

\"...but….but I apologized…\"

\"...and I appreciate it. However, they are still my ships and I'll decide what to do with them.\"

\"You...this...but I apologized.\"

\"On to other issues....we need to leave.\" Mikaela turned her attention to Ailwin, who was enjoying watching his friend become a parrot.

\"Leave? Why?\" The sudden change in conversation broke Braeden out of his loop, and the smiled on Ailwin stilled.

\"Did you forget you are supposed to meet my mother…?\" Ailwin had forgotten.

With everything that has been going on since arriving home, meeting Lady Lyra had been pushed to the back of his mind.

\"Does it need to be now? I think we should wait a bit…\"

\"Oh yeah, when? When you marching to your father's doorsteps?...or perhaps when you are on the battlefield, will you take five minutes to pour my mother some tea before going back to giving out orders to your soldiers.\" Mika said sarcastically.

\"Heh heh… she got you there…\" Braeden laughed.

Mikaela glared his way, \"Get out.\"

\"Okay...okay, I'll leave and then afterwards you'll open the vessels-yea ow! No need to push me! I'm going, I'm going…\" Ailwin dragged Braeden out of the room, closing the door behind him.

\"Okay, what is going on?\" Ailwin walked back towards the little table and sat down.

\"The King is his eyes on the academy…\" Mika started filling Ailwin in on everything Saavi told her about over the last couple of days since they have been gone.

\"We need to start making our moves.\"

\"I agree, but what does this have to do with me meeting your mother?\" Ailwin was confused.

\"Everything...right now what you need the most is support. With Kamryn and Lula becoming sister-wives, the Amara clan could fall into their hands at any minute with the way the King is \"protecting\" them.\" Mika was thinking ahead. If the King was willing to use her sisters' reputations to find Ailwin's allies, then why wouldn't he use the Amara clan as well?

\"...you want to use me to stake your claim on the clan leadership…\" This wasn't outside of Ailwin's thoughts as Lord Mano already made his intentions for Mikaela's future clear.

\"Yes and no… The Amara clan will be my eventually, but your presence will make it easier in stopping the old croons from siding with Lady Jaelah as well as gain us some support.\"

\"Support?\"

\"Lady Thalia is one of my father wives. Do you know who her father is...?\"

\"No.\"

\"Commander Ryo. The leader of the-\"

\"The Enai army...\"Ailwin remembers Commander Ryo. Though he and his army were banished to guard the icy mountains borders, their name still leave their enemies shuddering.

\"Yes...and Lady Thalia' sons and my brothers have grown to follow in their grandfather's footsteps.\"

\"So if we can get Lady Thalia on our sides then…\"

\"Then you will have Commander Ryo's army on your side.\"

\"...but this doesn't explain why I need to see your mother right now.\"

\"After being pregnant with her last son, Lady Thalia's health hasn't recovered. My mother has been the only one by her side to help take care of her. If you want a connection with Commander Ryo, then you want a connection with Lady Thalia and if you want a connection with Lady Thalia...\"

\"I need to be on good terms with your mother, I got it.\"

\"Good.\"

\"However,  I highly doubt the King will allow me to start building up my support.\"

\"Don't worry, he will. He has no other choice then to leave us alone for the time being.\"

\"Really? And why is that?\"

Mika jerked her head towards the monitor in the room.

Following her motion, Ailwin walked over to the monitor's screen to see a video clip of the battle between Ailwin shuttles and the royal guards warships playing on screen.

\"This is being broadcast to all of Kaia. The King will have his hands full explaining to the public what is going on.\"

\"What if he decides to make us traitors...or-\" This was what he was worried about the most. If the King was able to convince everyone that he is a traitor, his father would be free to kill him in the open.

To answer his worries Mika pointed back at the screen.

Looking back at the video, he could see Commanders Wynfina's face on screen. The conversation between him and the Commander Wynfina would make it impossible for the King to misguide the public.

\"All you need to do now is put you acting in and the play will be complete.\"

\"When did you do all this?\"

\"When you and Braeden were playing outside.\" Mika sipped her tea.
