434 Don't Kill The Messenger 2

"General Gilwenys, calm down." Mika advised, when she saw him about to blow his lid.

"How can I calm down when they are clearly threatening us!"

"Tch...didn't you do the same thing at the palace two nights ago…" The courier mumbled.

Braeden spun around wanting to grab the male's neck and break it. If it weren't for Mikaela stepping in front from him, he might have succeeded in doing so.

"Inform the King that Prince Ailwin accepts the command and will leave immediately...and I hope that the King will call back his soldiers." Mikaela eyed the courier.

"Of course!" The male smiled and bowed before being shown out of the manor by the servants.

"You two," Braeden pointed at the two soldiers, "...go back to your stations and keep me updated on the King's men. Make sure they all leave the manor and Prince Ailwin's estate!"

"Yes, sir." The two soldier left the room as Braeden turned around to confront Mika.

"Mikaela! How could you agree to such a thing without Ailwin's consent!"

Mika stared at Braeden before taking a seat, "Then tell me, what was your plan? Were you going to fight your way out of here, being out numbered. Or were you planning to leave all the soldiers and their families back at Ailwin's estate to die...tell me, what was your plan!?"

Braeden scrunch up his face as Mika pointed out the stupidity of his shouting.

Since he is finally able to see logic, Mika sigh in relief. The last thing she needs right now is a General doing a final stand against the royal guards with his troops behind him.

Shoot, I still have a good bottle of wine back in my room that I need to drink!... Don't drag me down with you. Mika gave Braeden the side eye.

"I understand what you are saying, but if Ailwin and the Shadow Wolves leave for the southern border, who knows what will happen to us down there with no one watching." Braeden stressed.

He was sure the King wouldn't stop at just tossing them to the border, he would probably find a way the strip his son of all his titles and wealth. When that happens, who would be willing to help them if they get into trouble out at the border.

They will be sitting ducks waiting to be slaughtered.

"He'll call you back…"

"What makes you so sure?" Braeden looked at Mika suspiciously.

"...because this is in line with what Mika and I have planned." Ailwin's voice entered the room before he did.

"Ailwin!" Braeden jump up to greeted his friend.

Ailwin walked on unsteadily legs towards the head chair. The attacks the King gave him really did make him lose consciousness for two days straight and gave a heavy blow to his gifts.

"While we were at the Amara clan we planned out the course of act the King might take against us. This is one of them…"

"En...by sending Ailwin away, the King might be able to eat away at his resources but that doesn't mean we can't do the same."

"The virus." Saavi confirmed.

"En... Just before meeting with the King's courier, I got a message from Kaze. They have two more to go."

"Good, we just need to use this time to gather our forces. I have already spoken to your mother, she got the agreement with Commander Ryo."

"Commander Ryo! How does Mikaela's mother know Commander Ryo? He's away up in the north!? He hasn't been seen for decades…"

"His daughter is one of my Father's wives and his grandsons are my brothers." Mika stated plainly.

"What!? How come I didn't know this?" Braeden looked at Ailwin accusingly.

"I didn't want to get your hopes up, until I knew for sure that he will join us." Ailwin smirked at his friend's sparkling eyes. He knew Braeden has always admired Commander Ryo, it's one of the reasons he didn't tell him at the beginning.

"Then you guys will go to the southern border?" Saavi brought the conversation back to the topic at hand.

"Yes." Mika and Ailwin answered at the same time.

Seeing that they were in an agreement without having to converse, brought little smiles to their faces.

"Ailwin needs to time to fully heal..."

...and get stronger, Ailwin thought to himself.

"While we need to keep the King distracted." She continued.

"...And how are we going to do that?" Jaonos asked.

"With some family drama, of course." Right now, Mika was smiling with the thought of using her two older sisters' marriage as her shield against the King.

Saavi just shook her head when she saw her expression, Is there anyone else who can be this happy using their own family to fight against their enemy?

As the five of them discussed their plans throughout the night, in another area in Kaia Kingdom, other plans were being carried out.

At secret military base off the West coast of Kaia Kingdom, known to only King Rychell and selected few, there were two shadows sneaking there way inside. Kaze and Celaena were staying to the shadows as they wormed their way way inside the base and followed Mikaela's map to the food supply room.

Celaena used her gifts to freeze framed the two guards standing at the door entrance. Once inside, she and Kaze unleashed the King's virus into the base's food supplies.

They went about contaminating the room, from pouring the liquid over the dry grains and inside drinks to even putting some on the kitchen tools.

"That should do it." Kaze whispered and dusted off his hands.

"En." Celaena nodded with a vicious look in her eyes. After sending a message to her brother, who confirmed everything they had found in Rowood City to be true, Celaena was the most eager one to have revenge on the sick King.

"Let's get out of here before someone comes." Going back the way they came in, Kaze and Celaena left the base with none the wiser.

"I'll report back to Miss Mikaela, then we can move on to the next place." Kaze said as they boarded their shuttle preparing to head to the next targeted area. Two down, one to go.

For days since leaving the Prince Ailwin's estate, Kaze, Celaena, Hycis and Nylian were all given different locations of the King's secret forces to infect.

She and Kaze have completed two and were on to the last one, she hoped that Hycis and Nylian were having the same luck.
