437 Leaving On A High Note...

Three days have past and Ailwin was feeling well enough to follow the King's command to leave the imperial capital for the southern border.

"Ailwin, there are a couple of royal guards still watching the manor." Braeden walked into Ailwin's office.

"Let them, they're only here to make sure that we leave..."

"I know."

"What about back home? Are the air carriers still around…?"

"En...just a few. Also, here." Braeden placed a tablet on the desk.

Ailwin picked it up and skim the words on the screen. The announcement of his and Mika's engagement at the winter solstice banquet was being made public by someone.

"The King did this?" Braeden questioned.

"I don't know, but I doubt it. He has never been one to gossip about his children's future partners…"

"Then who….Mikaela?"

"No…but it doesn't matter. We meant to announce it at the banquet for everyone to know. This is nothing troubling." Ailwin placed the tablet back on the table.

Braeden nodded his head and walked out of the room.

Ailwin went back to clearing out all of the information on his monitors and all the paperwork in his manor. He didn't believe for a second that the King would leave this manor alone once they left here today.

All the servants were sent away to the Amara clan already, under the control of Lady Lyra, to protect their lives and, any secrets about him and his household. Only Braeden, the soldiers and himself was left.

To continue on with their plan, he had to say goodbye to Mikaela yesterday by sending her, Saavi and Jaonos safely back to the academy.

With everyone doing their part, he needed to do his as well. Looking at the monitor in front of him then entering in a code on his monitor, he shut off the screen and left the room.

Outside, Ailwin guided his men onto the warship and they took off without a glance back.

Back at the Prince Ailwin's estate, it was a ghost town, everyone had been cleared out from the Generals down to the servants.

The air carriers hovering in the sky finally landed after seeing the last of the Prince's people leave.

A lieutenant stepped off of one of the ships and stared at the beautiful scenery around him. With greedy thoughts in his mind, he wanted to take the place for himself. He ordered to start the mission, they needed to clean out the whole estate starting from Prince Ailwin's palace.

If I find some good intel, maybe the King will reward me with this place…!

One by one the royal guards entered the Prince's palace without any regards to the owner's feeling and ransacked the place from room to room.

When they eventually found Ailwin's office, the lieutenant thought he hit the jackpot.

Pushing his men aside, rushed into the room and towards Ailwin's monitor.

"Okay, let's see what we have here…"

Turning on the screen, the first thing he saw was a sequence of numbers, as he continued to watch the numbers he noticed they were counting down.

Puzzled he look to the clock in the room, thinking that it might just a clock on the prince's screen.

"What the hell is this?"

His captain walked over after hearing his question. Taking a look over his lieutenant's shoulder, he saw the same number sequence.

"Isn't this a timer…?"

"Timer?"

"Yeah, you know...like the ones we use for bom...bs…"

They both stared at the screen when realization hit. Shouting and stumbling over each other, they ran for the door but it was too late.

With only a minute left on the timer, there was no way the captain and his men could make it out of Ailwin's home alive.

The palace setoff a chain reaction as it blew its self up, taking the surrounding area and the all the royal guards with it.

All that was left of Ailwin's beautiful estate was a crater of rubble and dust.

Following in it's footsteps was the manor in the imperial city, a minute after Ailwin and his people left, the residence blew up and crumble into waste.

The hiding outside the manor, the royal guards never thought Prince Ailwin would do such a thing. They were left momentarily shock at his drastic measures before fleeting the scene to report back to the King.

On the warship, Braeden look at Ailwin in the Commander's chair, "...now we really have no home to go back to."

"It's a sacrifice I'm willing to take. We can always rebuilt…. It's better to be safe than sorry." This is what Mikaela told him when she devised the plan to blow up the estate and the manor.

At least this way, he won't have to worry about those ass kisser of the King, stealing all his property.

If they wanted the land they can have it, now that I'm done with it.

When word got out about Ailwin blowing up both of his prime properties, the King's ass kissers mourned the lost of such all the exquisite items and land that slipped through their fingers.

They cursed Prince Ailwin for his wasteful ways. Did he need to ruin his things just so we can't have them!

Thinking Prince Ailwin is done for, the King received numerous complaints from people such as this, making Rychell laugh at their audacity.

"We should make up a law to kill such stupid people." Voron had walked in and peeked at what was making his friend laugh.

At seeing the ridiculous complaints, he shook his head in disappointment.

This is what our descendants amount to…

"This is what makes the centuries we have spent here entertaining." Rychell remarked.

"Hmph...for you maybe." Voron glared at the complaints with obvious disgust.

"Yes, for me...but luckily I have found something else to keep me entertained until I can kill that little thorn in my side." Rychell said as he smiled at his friend's confused face.

"I wonder if that little mouse like my gift."
