Chapter 90 - Another Challenge (1)

Name:IDLE Database Author:Dyrem
Receiving a new Core was a welcome surprise for Aldrin. If all Area Boss dropped it, by the time he finished raiding all the Dungeons, he could have 14 Extraordinary Rank Rift Monsters or in the IDLE Database terms, Dimensional Creatures

The problem he would incur was how to summon all of them at once. Well, if he used the 8x furnace booster for 24 hours, that would net him 17,280 Essences. That's more than enough to summon those 14 creatures.

However, he had to get enough storage that could store that much Essence first. Otherwise, all is nil.

With his whole group essentially uninjured, Aldrin continued to the next area that was once again at the same construct as the previous dungeon.

It's a straight corridor that leads to the Broodmother's room.

"If it's like this. The Survival Challenge really is the only hard part in this dungeon." Aldrin concluded as he charged towards the Spiders guarding the passage.

The Grade 2 Sword in his hand finally got swung for the first time!

Crack! Crack! Crack!

Before his very eyes, the human-sized Spiders that would normally be something out of a disaster film from the long-lost era got easily sliced by the Winterthorn, fell down and eventually became enclosed in ice starting from where it was cut.

Moments later, those who were killed disappeared and got sent to the Idle Storage.

Upon witnessing that, Aldrin was confused.

"The sword's description didn't say anything about freezing its enemies. Is it supposed to do that?"

He tried it the second time. The same result.

Third.

Fourth.

Fifth.

And after the eighth try, Aldrin reached the end of the passage.

"… I guess the ice-element negative status it talked about is 'Freeze'." Aldrin, convinced with his conjecture, nodded a few times before swinging the sword, removing shards of iced spider juices that got stuck on it.

"Now then, so, it's you guys who are the equivalent of the Giant Heads."

Aldrin smirked as he watched the eight giant unmoving spiders at the distance. Behind them, the Broodmother, laying out its eggs from its back.

[IDLE Points +50] x8

In less than five minutes, his previously dreaded spiders that were tricky to kill due to their long legs that could flick the enemies approaching it disappeared and got sent to the Idle Storage while encased in ice.

With the Guardian Ant and Tank taking the brunt of their attacks, Aldrin and the other two Dimensional Clones easily cut the spiders down.

It once again proved that the Guardian Ant made it too easy for him. Perhaps, if he finally invests IDLE Points on a Metadome, it would be even easier.

Just that, he would cry rivers if it got destroyed by the Champions. That's one of the reasons why he's slightly hesitant about buying an assembled Metadome even if it was just the standard model.

[You located the Broodmother!]

[Broodmother used its ability 'A Mother's Reproach']

[The whole cradle will be reconstructed]

[Kill every Black Spiders that will spawn every 3 minutes and prevent the Ant Statue from being destroyed to finish the Dungeon]

[New wave of Black Spiders will continue spawning regardless of whether there are remaining Spiders left or not]

[Can speed up the arrival of the next wave by shouting 'Skip'. Bonus IDLE Points will be awarded based on the remaining time]

[Death or the destruction of the statue means failure. As a penalty, 2 Idle Adventure runs will be deducted and the Dungeon will reset, raising the level of the monsters by 1]

"Huh? The challenge is not Timed Survival but a Wave Survival? No, it's not just a Survival!"

Upon being welcomed by a different challenge, Aldrin was taken aback. He was already expecting to be cut down by the Spider Champions in the end after all.

However, upon reading the contents of the challenge, he thanked whoever created the Dungeon for including the 'Bonus Points'.

Thinking back to the games he played, this challenge was pulled from a casual game.

Hero Defense.

Or simply a strategic defense type of game.

The player's life hinged on protecting what needed to be protected.

Although it's definitely harder than a simple survival challenge, the interval and the set number of enemies per wave lessened the difficulty.

Moreover, there are also bonus points if he skipped the interval. Although he still hadn't started playing, his palms were already aching for more IDLE Points.

While he's still trying to remember everything he knew about the type of challenge before him, the view in front of him gradually changed.

Like what the system message said, the whole cradle would be reconstructed. Save from the ground where he was standing, everything twisted and turned as if pieces of a puzzle.

Before he knew it, a wide area the size of a basketball court opened up.

From behind him, the 'Ant Statue' arose. It looked like an Ant Champion hoisting up a head of a Spider Champion by impaling it with its spear.

"That's some provocative statue. So that's the setting, huh? These spiders cannot tolerate the sight of that degrading statue."

Aldrin snorted. 'As if these spiders could understand its connotations. In the end, they're still insects. Just gigantified ones.'

In front of him, he saw the Broodmother at the far end of the 'play area', still continuously laying its eggs.

Behind the Broodmother, glowing passages reminiscent of a portal opened. The smaller spiders who were carrying the eggs entered and exited those portals.

"If I run over to that Broodmother and kill it… will it give me more bonus points? The Ant Queen disappeared at the first dungeon. However, now that I think of it, it just got sent behind those walls. If I enter one of those passages, it's possible to catch the Ant Queen!"

A hidden game mechanics!

That's the first thing that flashed in his mind upon remembering it…

"Let's see. If this turns out to be easier than the survival then I'll aim for that Broodmother."

After saying that, Aldrin opened his Spatial Pocket and once again equipped the Battlesuits he removed from himself and his three Dimensional Clones.
