The referee asked both of them to choose their pokemons once he was done explaining the rules.

Julian went first and sent out his first pokemon into the battlefield, Florges.

Remo also did the same and sent out his first pokemon at the same time and he chose Haxorus.

Seeing his opponent's choice surprised Julian, this was the first time in this league that his opponent chose a pokemon that had a type disadvantage against him. His Florges is a fairy type while Haxorus is a dragon type, the damage that Florges can deal on Haxorus is much greater than it can deal on Florges.

Julian found this interesting as he wondered what Remo has up his sleeve to be so confident against him that he would go with a type disadvantaged pokemon.

Now that both trainers have chosen their pokemon and they are on the battlefield, the referee didn't waste any time and began the battle.

Referee "The battle may begin"

Remo "Use Slash"

As soon as the signal of the battle was given, Remo went on the attack, he wasn't going to give Julian any moment to attack, his strategy for this battle is simple, he will go full offense on Julian and force his pokemon in a tough situation which will open up Florges's defense and Haxorus will be able to land the battle-ending strike.

Remo has his plan laid out, it's not a genius strategy but it is definitely the most effective one against someone like Julian, if you try to be complicated against Julian you will lose very badly.

Remo has done his study, he knows that this will be his toughest challenge, maybe even tougher than the elite four but he knows that if he defeats Julian, he will become the champion of Kalos and no one can stop him.

Julian was surprised by the sudden outburst, not because Remo took the first action but because of his Haxorus's speed, it covered half of the battlefield within a second and arrived right in front of Florges the very next second and slashed at Florges with full power.

Even though Florges is not as fast as Remo's Haxorus, she has incredible reaction time because of all the hard training she has gone through with her teammates under Julian's watch.

She moved to the side and dodged the first slash very gracefully but Haxorus was out for blood, it slashed at Florges again but Florges dodged it again.

Haxorus was not going to give up, it has its sight set on Florges and wants to land the first hit, Julian watched carefully as Remo's Haxorus continued its barrage of attacks.

Just from the Haxorus's movements, Julian could tell that this pokemon is already at an elite level and it is only a few steps away from becoming a champion-level pokemon.

This just showed how much Remo has put into this battle, this is three years of dedication put into this one battle, Julian admired Remo's determination but he is not going to take a loss.

As Florges kept dodging Haxorus's slashes she quickly understood its pattern and now she could tell from where Haxorus is going to attack before it could even attack.

Julian also noticed that Florges has deciphered Haxorus's slash pattern and is now ready to make a move.

Julian "Use Disarming Voice"

Julian ordered as he saw the right moment to attack. As Haxorus was aiming at Florges's head from its right hand, Florges saw the incoming attack and moved to the right and dodged it and opened her mouth, and used Disarming Voice.

A screeching sound escaped from her mouth and hit Haxorus right in its ear sending the dragon rolling on the ground.

Though the attack doesn't have much power behind it, having a high-frequency sound blasted into one's ear can cause a lot of damage.

Haxorus was about to get back to its feet but the aftermath of the Disarming voice was clear, Haxorus seems stunned.

This is the moment where it will all end.

Julian "Now Moonblast"

As Haxorus was stunned, Florges raised her hands and started to charge up for a powerful Moonblast, fairy energy started to accumulate between her hands and the ball made of fairy energy started to grow.

Once Florges was done, she locked onto Haxorus and blasted the Moon Blast at it, sensing the impending doom, Haxorus suddenly snapped out of its stun state and looked at the incoming Moonblast.

Even though the attack is very fast, everything seems to have slowed down at the very last second for Haxorus as it thought it was going to get destroyed by this Moonblast.

Remo "Quick, use Protect"

But at the very last second Remo's voice sounded in its ears and it quickly raised its hands and formed a protective shield in front of it at the very last second.

The Moonblast smashed into the protective shield and pushed Haxorus back even though its feet and dug deep into the ground.

Cracks started to appear on the protective shield and just as it was about to shatter, the power of the Moonblast ran out and then the shield shattered.

Haxorus went on its knees as it was completely exhausted after that, it had used all its energy to power up that protective shield because if it didn't, the Moonblast would have ended it.

Remo "Great, now use Crunch"

Though Remo wanted to give his Haxorus some time to recover, he had no time, even slacking off for a second will cost them this battle, Haxorus didn't care about its exhausted state and used all its power to charge straight towards Florges as dark energy started to form in front of its mouth creating a massive jaw made of dark energy.

Haxorus's speed was so fast that Florges doesn't have time to charge up another special attack that could counter it, Haxorus will be in front of it within a second and the Crunch will crunch down on her.

Julian knew this and decided to play defensive.

Julian "Use Protect"

Julian called out for a Protect as well and Florges created a sphere of protective shield around her, the dark jaw was massive and it tried to crush down on the protective shield.

As the jaws tried to shut down hard, it squeezed the protective sphere shield causing its shape to change, the pressure from the dark jaw was indeed a lot and it showed, cracks started to appear on Florges's shield but she wasn't afraid.

The pressure on the shield increased and it shattered as the jaws shut down on Florges.
