Chapter 1173 - Quarter-Finals (9)

Remo frowned as he saw his Garchomp take a knee, he didn't expect his Garchomp would be the first one to take a knee.

Julian, on the other hand, was not surprised at all, Remo's Garchomp went all out during its attacks, it used multiple full power Dragon Claws and Dual Chops which consume a lot of energy and with how frequently and aggressively it was throwing out these moves, it came as no surprise that Garchomp was the first one to get exhausted even though it had a larger energy resource.

The reason Dragalge was not too exhausted was that how efficiently he used his energy, he didn't use big moves too often, and whenever he did, he didn't go all out with it.

While using protect, he used half the energy required and then relied on physics to do the trick for him.

And with the final blow that was dealt by the Icy Wind, the exhausted Garchomp couldn't hold up its massive body and gave into exhaustion.

But this doesn't mean that Julian has won yet, this Garchomp still has a lot more to give and with its nature, it was not likely to back down until the very last moment.

Till now Julian has been very careful in this battle, he was on the defensive the whole time, he can take risks but they have to be calculated risks, during the whole battle Dragalge is treated as a glass cannon, his attacks are good and will deal damage but he can crumble with just one hit from Garchomp.

Remo "Garchomp, use Dragon Rush".

While Garchomp was still on its knee it roared as loud as it could and channeled all of its dragon energy and covered its body whole, it then launched itself into the air as the energy took the shape of a massive dragon and then charged towards Dragalge.

Julian "Use Dragon Pulse, full power!"

Julian ordered.

Dragalge aimed at the incoming Dragon Rush and blasted a full power Dragon Pulse at it, the two moves collided created a powerful shockwave but the Dragon Rush was much stronger and it pushed right through the Dragon Pulse.

Though it was able to push through the Dragon Pulse, the Dragon Rush has slowed down and lost its power.

This loss was enough for Julian to take advantage of.

Julian "Abandon and then use Protect"

Dragalge abandoned Dragon Pulse and created a large wall of a protective shield in front of him, and within a few seconds Garchomp crashed against the protective shield, due to the impact cracks spread across the shield but it was enough to stop Garchomp in its tracks.

The energy dragon around it dispersed into thin air revealing Mega Garchomp's intimidating figure, the protective shield also shattered leaving nothing between the two pokemon.

Julian then used this moment for his advantage.

Julian 'Use Toxic"

Julian ordered. As soon as the order was given, Dragalge shot a blob of poison at Garchomp which caught it off guard, because of this Garchomp was poisoned.

As Garchomp is resistant to poison type attacks, the poison status will not have its full effect on Garchomp, but Julian has different plans for it, right now Garchomp is still too strong for Dragalge to take out so Julian will have to weaken it and the use of Toxic is the first step to achieving it.

Garchomp shook its head aggressively as the blob of poison did hit its face directly.

Remo was not that concerned by this as well, he knows that the poison status will slowly affect Garchomp but the effects won't be detrimental to his performance in the battle.

Remo "Use Dragon Claw"

Now that both pokemons are so close to each other, Remo has finally found his opportunity to attack.

Garchomp roared and used Dragon Claw with full power.

Julian "Counter with Iron Tail"

Julian decided to counter with Iron Tail and lessen the blow that Dragalge is about to receive.

As Garchomp's Dragon Claw came crashing down on Dragalge, Dragalge used Iron Tail and whipped it towards the Dragon Claw, due to these two moves colliding in the air, it created a thunderous sound followed by a destructive shockwave, even the ground beneath it couldn't handle the impact and shattered.

After the exchange, Dragalge crashed hard on the ground proving Garchomp's superiority in strength. Dragalge, though put all his power behind that Iron Tail, could not counter Garchomp and received a massive blow, lucky the impact was not enough to knock him out.

While Garchomp didn't receive any damage from that attack, its hand rebounded up from the impact causing it to lose its balance.

Julian saw the opportunity he was waiting for.

Julian "Now use Venom Drench"

Dragalge who crashed on the ground didn't care if he was in a disadvantageous position right now, he just blasted a massive blob of venom towards Garchomp, Garchomp's whole body got covered in this blob of venom and the effects started to take place.

Venom Drench is the type of move that lowers the opponent's attack, special attack, and speed if the opponent is poisoned, the reason why Julian used Toxic even though won't matter in the battle was because of this, he wanted to lower Garchomp's advantage over Dragalge.

As soon the venom seeped into Garchomp's scale, it started to feel weak and sluggish.

Remo gritted his teeth as he realized that his Garchomp has fallen into a disadvantageous stage again.

Remo "Use Dual Chop!"

He shouted. Remo became desperate and now just wants his Garchomp to land a hit on Dragalge.

Julian "Dodge"

By now Dragalge has recovered and he quickly used Aqua Tail and moved from his previous position causing Garchomp to hit the ground with Dual Chop.

Julian "Venom Drench"

As soon s Dragalge dodged he used another Venom Drench which slowed down Garchomp even more while reducing its attack and special attack at the same time.
