340 Return To Shearath VI : Assassination Attemp

It was a little bit cold this morning. The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as the city finally woke up to a brand new day. The Pride City was a port city, but it was not just a sea port, it was also a space port. Seeing as it was practically the capital of the Cor family's operations.

Yesterday had been even more hectic than I expected, I ended up throwing a whole lot more people in jail than I expected. Goose with a lot of help from the Coalition jade been able to completely shift the way things worked in my home after I was imprisoned. The loyal members of the guard that protected my home were all either demoted to common guardsmen in the city without any real power, or a method to change the status Quote. Some were posted to other cities or sent off world on missions that was not required, causing many of them to have lost their lives in the process. And as for the others, some escaped, while others who had real power were put to death immediately.

Communications between the loyal factions of the PRIDE had been completely cut off, so Maxine had no idea what was happening either. Before she came looking for me, she was on a scouting mission for a new planet to colonize, and the mission had stretched for almost five years. It was when news of my imprisonment and subsequent coup against the prison guards and Adein reached her, that she and themembers of the pride that were with her made their way to me.

But now everyone who she was friends with, or was really loyal to me or my family has been scattered allover the galaxy. The PRIDE forces was restructured by Aramis, removing anyone loyal to me or with any real source of power. My home and my people were a wreck, but that was just the tip of it. Over a quarter of the Cor family assets, amounting to billions of Universal credits, were tunneled into multiple off world accounts, fake development projects, and used as gifts to most members of the Coalition, and a few of the noble families.

Goose was nothing more than a puppet, and a complete fool. The idiot had everything he could have ever wanted right at the palm of his hands, ultimate power and wealth, and he squandered it away by being the lapdog of people who wanted nothing more than to take everything my family owns. If I had not returned when I did, they would have drained us dry, and left my stupid cousin with nothing but shame, disgrace and the clothes on his back.

But I was going to take everything back, and things were already in motion. The Ausolon bloodline clan were good inventors and very savvy with technology, even though as vampires they had been stuck in a literal stone age for six hundred thousand years, the moment they got their hands onto some pieces of real tech, they had shone in more ways than one. And chief amongst that, was the recently assembled team of hackers.

But while most of said team was made up of vampires from the Ausolon clan, there were a few dragons, a dark elf, and to my intense surprise a giant and a gnome. I guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover. They had arrived late last night when I ordered the frigate back to Ethernalia Leonis with a few extra resources. Malek has to improve on his design, plus now that we had a foot hold in the Pride city, our people could travel through the space gate and get here without having to make a longer journey than we did when we came back.

Since time was a whole lot more slower in the realm than it was in the real world, I knew Malek would have something for me soon enough. But in the meantime, the hackers would first hack into the city's mainframe and take control of all it's facilities. We were locked out by some of the supervisors followers when they realized I had returned and taken back control of the estate. I've tried my best so far to keep a cool head, but finding out that outsiders had the audacity to lock me out of my own home and city might have triggered the murderous tendencies that so far I've succeeded in keeping in check. As it stands, by the end of today quite a few heads would be rolling across the streets of this city.

I felt an arm wrap around my waist as someone leaned her head on my back. I was watching the sun rise, and with her here the sun rise seemed a little more beautiful. Xaseah shifted a bit to the left, and I felt someone else touch me, and then the sunlight really looked divine at this point.

"Did you even get to sleep at all, this is supposed to be a vacation you know, not everything has to be done by you, you're a King." Xaseah said to me as she and Asha rested their heads on my shoulder.

In a way Xaseah was right, I really am a workaholic, and maybe I should relax and let someone else take charge. But there were something's only I could do, and as it stands that's a lot of things. A vacation might be what I really need, but even then all of the work and responsibilities will still be waiting for me by the time said vacation is over.

Maybe I shouldn't take a break, but I needed one desperately, I needed to spend time with my family. And this was an opportunity to do so, a chance where all five of us can be together. Sure there would be wolves knocking on our door soon enough, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself every once in a while with the women I love, as we raised our children together. Every moment spent with them is precious, I really should make the best of it.

"How about we go out and have a little fun. I would like to show you guys the city I grew up in, and take you to all my favorite places, think of it as a date, a real one. Which is something we've never had, of course we're bringing the kids with us, so it's more like a family outing than a date." I said to them both with smile on my face.

"There's no problem with that, Xaseah and I will go and get ready, please have the maids change Cassiel and Michael, we'll be done soon." Asha said to me dragging Xaseah along, before stopping and adding one more thing before she left.

"No official clothes, we should look our possible best....in normal clothes. So no kingly or noble dressing. See you later husband." Then she dragged Xaseah away, leaving me with the monumental job of carrying my kids to go and get cleaned up and changed. The only problem is that Cassiel hates water, and Michael hates clothes. This is going to be a lot harder than Asha just made it seem.

Maxine had prepared a security detail, and no matter what I said, she refused to budge. Which was why six normally dressed men and woman(Maxine came along) followed behind us. We refused to use any sort of transportation, preferring to walk instead from the moment we got to the main gate. However they never warned us, the area outside the gate was filled with a lot of people, practically everyone in the city who gave a damn about the Cor family were there, and the moment the gate was opened, a deafening scream was released.

This entire scenario reminded me of celebrities from my time back on earth, of course the women and the girls screamed the loudest, but it was a wonderful sight. A lot of people were hoisting signs up, some said welcome home, we missed you, Lion Of Shearath and many other nice words. But also there were those that really sucked too.

Vampire scum, murderer, blood sucker, demon etc. Obviously they were a minority, but it didn't change the fact that there were people in my city who still lived their lives prejudiced against a people and a war that was manipulated into being by the humans, who were in turn manipulated by a force of darkness beyond their control or power. Hate was a powerful tool for control and a volatile compound for destruction and war; it's not so easily rid of.I had to say something or these people wouldn't let us through, at least before Maxine pulls out her gun and start threatening them. I raised my hand up, and the crowd fell silent.

This was not the first time I've had to talk to my people, so there were already certain gestures they responded to, and knew how to act around. It made me realize that even though I've made Ethernalia Leonis my home, there really is no place like home, and the place this city and it's people had in my heart was something Ethernalia Leonis could never compare to, this was home.

"Hello everyone, I'm back home. I think we can all agree that it has been a very long two years, I've lost a lot of things due to the greed of powerful people, and the easily manipulated hate of the common people. I suffered all those times not because of the power the nobles had, but because of the power and the hate you people gave to them. But I don't blame you, I might have lost my human body and became a vampire, but none of you would be faulted for that.

It was because of that change, that I have a family today, my wives, my son and my daughter, innocent children born from the union of a vampire and a human, and changed by the blessings of a dragon into something more. All of you here are my family, I will protect you from anything and everything..."

"Can You Protect Us From Yourself!" someone shouted at me, with a lot of voices within the crowd agreeing with him.

"If I should be honest with all of you, nothing in this universe can protect you from me, except of course my wife Asha, seeing as she's a goddess and all. I mean all of you should think about it, what can stop a vampire and a dragon, who so happens to be a Weaver, even gods would have a hard time scratching me. But I'm not going to harm any of you, not unless you leave me no choice. You've all known me since I was born, you all gave me the name Lion of Shearath, I did my best in living up to that name. I did as much good as I could for you all, and now I'm in a position where I can do a whole lot more good for each and everyone of you. You're my people, we may no longer be the same race, but don't you dare think that's my fault. The sentence to have me turned into a vampire was decided the council of governors with agreement from the council of light.

But I don't regret it, I never will. This is who I am now, a vampire, a dragon, a king, a husband and a father. But know this, in all that time, not once did I ever stop being the lion of Shearath, I kept true to myself and to all of you. But you're all left with a choice, this land belongs to my family and as such it's mine. I came back here today for it, so I'm announcing from today hence forth, the Cor family will be retracting themselves and all of their assets from the human coalition.

From now on, the continent of Leo is autonomous in all of it's dealings. All current governors are hence forth summoned to appear before me within the span of a week, where I will decide whether or not they will remain in their post. Leo has now become a monarchy, just like it was when it was first founded. But in the interest of peace, because I rather not fight my own people to keep my home safe from the clutches of selfish and greedy people, I ask anyone who is not in agreement with me decisions to leave the continent. If you have assets here then tomorrow an administrative building would be erected, and as long as you bring proof of your ownership, you would be paid in full the total sum of the value of your assets.

There's no need for there to be anything other than peace here, this is our home. And it's about to become to many more people, Leo should be more than just a continent of humans. But rather a safe haven for anyone and anything looking for a new beginning, this should bea safe place and a place of prosperity for anyone who wants to be here.

Some of you will definitely hate this decision, I understand that such a change is not something you like. But like I said, please value your life and peace and just leave. It's the only way we can avoid bloodshed and pain. But all these doom and gloom talk aside, everyone I'm home, and I promise that everything the council of governors and the supervisor they sent have spoils would be fixed up. I want you all to trust that our home would be a safe place and we all would be achieving a great many things together. Because what truly matters is the world we leave for our children, and I want to leave a safe world for my daughter and my son, because they're the most important thing in my life right now. So please let me help you, protect you and build a bright future for your children right alongside my own...…"

*Bang!*

"Arghhhhh!"

The screams were really loud, but the bullet hole on Asha's forehead was the only thing I could see. She looked at me with a blank look on her face and sighed as she dug her fingers into the wound and pulled the bullet out. For that bullet to get into her body, there was no way it was normal, whoever shot at her came here specifically for her, after all how many people could say they had a bullet capable of hurting a goddess. But now I was pissed, and these people were about to see what happens when I'm pissed.

"Who. Did. THAT!!!"
