At Country D
"Ready?" Noah asked his wife Luo, who nodded.
"Remember to act normal, Luo. Gavin will confront him himself, and it's not for us to do it. Our only job is to make sure he stays by our side. Keep him company and make sure he won't feel suspicious of anything," Noah reminded, making Luo crumple her face.
"Should I remind you that I'm a professional, and surely I act better than you? Not because your sister is a one of a hell best actress then don't think you're like her…" Luo scoffed.
Noah laughed and said, "okay fine. My wife is good at everything and the best among the rest, including me. Stop sulking and ready your usual smile. We are here."
He pinched Luo's nose since she did not respond.
"You're not this grumpy when you're pregnant with Calvin. How come you're so moody lately," Noah whispered. Luo did not respond to him at all. Noah only chuckled, thinking how cute his wife was even in her mad state.
He stopped the car, and Damiel was already outside with his luggage.
Noah went out and readied his usual smile towards the old man.
"Ready, uncle?" he said in a smile. Daniel instructed the servant to put his luggage in Noah's trunk.
"Ah, I feel bad that you have to pick me up when we can go to the airport together…" Daniel commented with a smile. Luo went out to the car as well and then greeted Damiel with her usual chin-to-chin kiss and a slight hug as she commented, "Ah, Gavin and Brione will scold us, uncle."
"Right, Gavin bugged us to make sure in accompanying you since he was unable to pick you up himself. Shall we go?" Noah said. Daniel nodded, and all of them were about to go inside the car when Luo quickly opened the passenger seat for uncle Damiel and said, "Uncle, please sit here in front. I prefer sitting at the back."
Damiel creased his forehead and then looked at Noah, who only shrugged his shoulders. He went inside the car and soon they were on the road going to the airport.
There was only this awkward silence, so Damiel asked, "Are you two okay? Why is it quiet?"
"I'm a fine uncle. I don't know with the one sitting beside you who just called me grumpy!" Luo scoffed.
Noah chuckled, wondering if his wife was just acting for an ice breaker or was she really sulky that he said she was grumpy.
Damiel turned at Noah and whispered, "she's pregnant. It's natural."
"I know, uncle. I didn't say anything bad at all. I mean, I just commented that she's not grumpy when she was pregnant with Calvin while she's becoming moody lately."
Damiel laughed and said, "ah, you two. Don't quarrel about small things. And you, Noah, you should submit well to your wife and please her at any cost since she's carrying a baby."
"You're right, uncle. He should say nice things to me and not use offensive words. Didn't he know how hard it is to be pregnant and deliver a baby? Men don't understand it well since they are not experiencing hardship the way we do," Luo seconded with a pout.
Daniel chuckled and said, "alright, Luo. Relax, and I'm sure Noah will make up for you. Ah, how nice would it be if Brione and Gavin have their baby soon and I become a grandfather soon?"
"I heard Gavin and Brione are working hard for it. Are you excited, uncle, to be a grandfather?" Luo asked.
"Of course I am, but I am a bit worried too that Gavin might forget about me since he is now with his biological father. I mean, what if I become a grandfather and yet unable to be with my grandchild often?"
"I am alone now, and I only hope I can be with my son. If only I could live with him in the palace at country B and assist him with all I can, then that would be better."
Noah and Luo exchanged a meaningful look at the rearview mirror.
"That's a great idea, uncle. I'm sure Gavin will love that idea. Do you plan to ask him that when you two see each other?" Luo asked.
Damiel heaved a sigh and said, "yeah, I plan to suggest it to Gavin later, and I hope his biological father won't mind it if I choose to be with Gavin if Gavin agrees with it."
"I heard Gavin's father is kind and generous, so I'm sure he won't mind uncle. He owes you a lot since you take good care of his son well." Luo commented.
"Yeah, I guess so. But Gavin is still my son. He is all I have, so I will do everything that I can to stay with him," Damiel said.
"Right. It must be hard on you, uncle. I mean, we all found out Gavin is alive, and he finally returned to us only for him to be away again since he will become the new King of our country."
"Yeah, it's hard. But that is Gavin's faith. So I will support him. It's time that the country will have a new and young leader. I heard that Gavin's father is having a hard time already. That was why Gavin accepted the responsibilities. Gavin is such a good son, and I am so proud of him." Damiel commented.
"By the way, are we all going to stay in the palace for the night or just a hotel?" Daniel asked.
"We will stay inside the palace, uncle. Brione took care of our rooms already in Gavin's private wing." Noah commented.
"It would be an honor to meet Gavin's biological father in person finally," Damiel whispered.
"Yes, uncle. Gavin will introduce us to him. I am excited to meet him as well, uncle. I mean, I haven't met a King in person, plus it's my first time to be inside a palace!" Luo mumbled with a grin.
"Oh, me too, Luo.. I am looking forward to meeting him in person…" Damiel muttered.
