At Lewis Hospital, Cain heaved a sigh as he tried to dial Kimmy's number, but again it was not reachable.
"She turned her phone off," he whispered, followed by another sigh. He was about to pick Kimmy up at Hansen Mansion when he received a call from her mother saying Kimmy was sick and would not go to work.
He wanted to ask more, but aunty Leila ended the call that instant. He could also sense the serious and cold tone in her voice. Aunty Leila was probably mad that he had to see and get Kimmy late hlast night.
Cain massaged his nape before he relaxed his body on his seat and rested his head to look at the ceiling of his office.
He already expected that Kimmy would definitely avoid him because of what happened last night. It was only natural for her to feel embarrassed. He was balancing the situation and thinking hard on how to proceed further when his secretary went inside.
"Sir, the person who will meet you from the Cha Group is the CEO himself, Mr. Harry Cha. They also agreed to meet outside, but he will be available only in two days since today and tomorrow he has some appointments."
Cain nodded and dismissed his secretary. He frowned while he wondered if meeting Kimmy was part of his appointments today and tomorrow?
Cain shrugged his shoulders and tried his best to clear his thoughts and focussed on work instead, or he might end up crashing on Kimmy's place again and get her.
Good thing his mobile phone rang.
"Are you busy? How about we eat lunch together? I need some advice from an expert," Gavin commented from another line.
"Alright, I'll go to the palace," Cain answered.
"Great. Thank you, Cain. See you later," Gavin said, then ended the call.
He needed some calming pills from Cain, knowing that his father Damiel would soon arrive. He wanted to confront him, but he would do it after the coronation. Tonight, he would spend time with him like old days since it could be the last time the two of them would see each other.
Gavin closed his eyes. His heart was hurting, especially now that all his memories were back in just a snap last night. Tomorrow, he would end all ill-fated connections… for him and his family.
Noah informed him that they were already on the private plane with his father, Damiel.
"Darling?" Brione called, wondering if her husband was sleeping or not on the couch of his living area.
Gavin opened his eyes and saw Brione in front of him. He smiled and pulled her on his lap as he teased, "are you here again to get my time and pull me for a quick re…"
Brione covered his lips and, with a pout, complained, "stop teasing me already. I told you, I'm on my fertile days, and I don't want to miss such important days. We must take this opportunity. Who knows how long you will be busy being a King. At least I can enjoy taking care of our baby if that happens."
"You mean you will focus on our future baby only and not your husband anymore?" Gavin asked in disbelief.
Brione lifted her eyebrows as she mumbled, "it depends. Later I will tell you, but for now, you must hurry to the meeting room. Zach and his team are already waiting."
Gavin heaved a frustrated sigh, and Brione could understand why.
"Be strong, darling. Face him with bravery… Confront and ask him everything you want to know without hesitation because you deserve the truth even though the answer might hurt you." Brione encouraged her husband.
"Yes, sweetheart, I will do that tomorrow once Zach and his team succeed in their operation in talking down Duncan's headquarters and people in all areas. I asked Cain to come today too. I need some calming pills once I see father Damiel and spend one last night with him," Gavin said with a heavy heart.
He and Brione soon went out to meet Zach and his team. They would discuss the whole and final plan for tomorrow.
Hours passed, and Cain arrived in the palace to see Gavin and eat lunch with him. He creased his forehead when Gavin asked to see him privately in his wing.
"We won't eat with His Majesty and Brione?" Cain asked as he sat on his chair.
"No, Brione and father went out for lunch," Gavin said, and Cain nodded.
"You look exhausted," Gavin casually commented.
"Oh, you mean the dark circles under my eyes? I've been sleep-deprived lately." Cain admitted.
"Because of Kimmy," Gavin mumbled. It was not a questioning tone but rather a statement.
"Yeah," Cain whispered. He hated to admit it, but he was experiencing lovesickness! Kimmy already affected his daily life, and he was very helpless about it.
"Hmm, I asked a friend to check on Harry Cha, and he will send you the files soon. It's up to you if you want to check it. I honestly don't know if it can help you, but if I were in your situation, I would be curious to know more about the man I will be competing with for the woman I like. It also includes some reports of Kimmy's whereabouts at country D with him."
Cain was too shocked. It was all of a sudden that all he could say was, "thank you, Gavin."
Gavin chuckled and said, "I am not doing this for free, Cain. Just make sure you won't hurt Kimmy once you succeed in winning her heart. She is working in progress, and I'm sure you know that as well since you're good at reading people. Make sure you treat her properly and don't make me ever regret being a bias with you."
"I got you, Gavin. I will treat Kimberly well, and you won't regret helping me out."
Gavin shook his head. He and Cain began eating. It was Brione who convinced him to help Cain with Kimmy.. But then, between Harry and Cain, he would also choose Cain, whom he knew better and personally.
