Chapter 5:Are You Really that Lonely?

Are You Really that Lonely?

As parents, Bai Qilin and Ji Yun's greatest wish was for their son to be successful and bless them with plenty of grandchildren.

In that regard, Bai Qilin felt that their son had already achieved the first criteria. However, the second one proved a little difficult to meet.

Should Bai Qilin believe the rumors of the outside world, he feared that there were no longer any chances for him to meet his grandchildren during his lifetime.

"Uncle, Aunty, please don't believe the nonsense online. I refuse to believe that Brother Yan's the type of person the rumors make him out to be," Ji Xiaonian said as she defended Bai Yan.

Moreover, after the events of that fateful night, she was even more certain that Bai Yan was straight.

'Of course he's straight! Why else would he get a hard-on when I hugged him?!'

"Xiaonian, you're still young. There's plenty that you still don't know about. Regardless, Uncle and I are especially worried about him. Say, as a family that has spanned for several generations, how do you think we should face our ancestors if our bloodline ends with this generation?"

Ji Yun clutched Ji Xiaonian's small hands tightly as she stared at Xiaonian with widened eyes. In a serious tone, she asked, "Xiaonian, let me ask you a question. Do you like our family's Lil Bai? Do you wish to become his wife?"

"…"

Ji Yun's sudden question had caused Ji Xiaonian to shyly lower her reddened face.

'How can I not like him?'

Ever since middle school, Ji Xiaonian would feel her heartbeat race whenever she saw him. Not only that, but her face would also flush red, and now that she thought about it, that was probably the point where she first fell for Brother Yan!

This was how Bai Yan had come to be her first crush.

A moment later, Ji Xiaonian lifted her head and met Ji Yun's gaze. She then bashfully nodded her head and answered, "Yes, I like him."

As a matter of fact, not only did she like him, she liked him to indescribable lengths!

She liked him so much that she wished to see him every day and carry out all their activities together.

"That's splendid! Since you like him, then Aunty hereby declares that from this day onward, you are to be my daughter-in-law. Say, how about we call Lil Bai down now and jumpstart your relationship with him?"

The moment she saw Xiaonian's nod, Ji Yun immediately leaped with joy.

It was as if she had already seen her near-future, one where she was blessed with white and plump grandchildren to hug. Just thinking about it made her extremely excited.

"Eh?"

Ji Xiaonian flinched. In a slightly worried tone, she asked, "I don't think that's a good idea, Aunty. What if Brother Yan doesn't share the same sentiments as me? Won't it be awkward if that happens?"

'Actually, it doesn't matter if he doesn't like me. After all, relationships are meant to be fostered!'

'As long as I get Uncle and Aunty's approval, then I'll be able to come to the Bai Residence openly every day. In that case, I would also be able to visit HIM every day. That would be a dream come true.'

"This is something Aunty and I have already decided on. Even if he doesn't want to agree, he'll be forced to agree. So, don't worry, Xiaonian."

As Bai Qilin's gaze landed on Ji Xiaonian, he could not help but utter another word of advice.

"Xiaonian, since we've already decided to make you our daughter-in-law, don't you think that you should call us father and mother from now on?"

Bai Qilin and Ji Yun had watched Xiaonian grow up. Not only was the little girl a sweet talker, but she was also filial. Moreover, they understood her quite well, and since the Bai and Ji Families were of equal social ranking, Xiaonian was the perfect pick as their daughter-in-law.

Upon hearing Bai Qilin's words, Ji Xiaonian's heart blossomed with happiness although she did not appear so.

She then hastily prepared a cup of tea and presented it to Bai Qilin and Ji Yun with both her hands. "Father, mother, please accept this cup of tea."

The moment she called them father and mother, Ji Xiaonian felt a sharp jab in her heart, leaving an aching sensation.

Ever since her parents had died in a car accident when she was ten, she had been living alone with her brother. Although Uncle and Aunty had given her a fair share of love, there was still an invisible boundary separating them.

However, that would no longer be the case once she became Bai Yan's wife, she could officially call Uncle and Aunty her father and mother. Once that happened, she could finally return to her past life, one where she had a perfect and blessed family.

"Wahaha…" After receiving the cup of tea, Bai Qilin laughed out loud. "Splendid, this is splendid indeed! Finally, our family has a daughter! Hahahaha…"

Even Ji Yun grinned widely. She then pulled Xiaonian to her side and stated lovingly, "This is great! So, Xiaonian, what do you say about staying here tonight? Your mother will prepare a room for you later."

"Oh yeah! You should stay! Hahaha…"

As if he had just picked up a chunk of gold, Bai Qilin endlessly laughed out loud. It was to such an extent that even the two individuals upstairs came down to inspect the situation, as they found it quite odd.

"What's the happy occasion?"

Ji Chen walked over and sat down on the sofa in a poised manner. While doing so, he posed the question to the trio with a smile.

Bai Yan followed over a moment later, and while doing so, took a subconscious glance at Ji Xiaonian. Coincidentally, Ji Xiaonian had met his gaze and prompted her to think that he wanted to speak to her. Alas, after that fleeting glance, Bai Yan retracted his gaze and sat on a spot that was obscured from her vision.

When that happened, Ji Xiaonian felt disheartened. Not only was she dejected, but there was also a sour sensation within her heart.

"Can you blame us for being this happy? Our family has a new baby after all!"

Ji Yun clutched Ji Xiaonian's hand tightly as she stared at Bai Yan and strictly stated, "Lil Bai, from this day forth, Xiaonian is your fiancée. You'd better take care of her, understand?"

"Say what?"

Ji Yun's words had surprised both Bai Yan and Ji Chen. The two unanimously set their gaze upon Ji Yun, and then at Ji Xiaonian a moment later.

"What's the meaning of this?" Ji Chen was the first to pose a question, and while doing so, his charming eyebrows had slightly furrowed.

Even if he had not asked the question, he had already more-or-less pieced together the situation. The corner of his mouth twitched, and a moment later, it curled into a delighted smile.

Bai Qilin explained, "Xiaonian likes Lil Bai, and I especially like Xiaonian. Since Lil Bai is currently a single dog, we thought it would be best to pair them up together. Ji Chen, you understand Lil Bai quite well too, so, don't you think Xiaonian's the ideal match for Lil Bai?"

Ji Chen lazily reclined on the sofa, and when he noticed how close Bai Yan was to erupting like a volcano, he chuckled heartily. "Of course I agree. This is great news, I can finally get rid of the parasite in my home. I can finally catch a break."

With that, Ji Chen patted Bai Yan's shoulder and took a mischievous jab at him. "Brother, you're responsible for the parasite now. Make sure to take care of her for me, and let me say this now, there will be no refunds."

In truth, Ji Chen was not happy at all. After all, Xiaonian was the only family member back at home, and if Xiaonian were to truly get married, he would be an emotional wreck!

However, the man that she was marrying was no stranger. The man was a stellar individual, which greatly relieved Ji Chen.

Bai Yan's eyes turned cold as he glared viciously at him, and then towards his parents. In an icy tone, he stated, "Who says that I wanted to marry her? This is a personal matter! How could any of you spout such nonsense and determine my fiancée without prior approval?"

He then glared at the little lady located in between his parents, and in his usual ruthless tone, he chided, "Are you even aware of how old you are? Why are you rushing to marry someone? Are you really that lonely?"
