"I won't! I'll only stand up if Brother Yan kisses me." Ji Xiaonian was drunk, and from the looks of it, she was blind drunk.
Otherwise, there was no way she would have the courage to cause a scene during Shengtian Group's Anniversary Celebration.
The people standing nearby were staring at her with excited looks on their faces. By disrupting the celebration, she was bound to be given a death by a thousand cuts by their company's big boss.
After all, the fact that she was President Ji's sister meant nothing to Bai Yan.
"The big boss is here." Someone from the crowd suddenly called out.
All the company's employees hastily made way with enthusiastic expressions on their faces. They were excited to see how this shameless little girl would be executed by their boss.
Upon hearing that the big boss had arrived, Ji Chen hurriedly stood up and gave an apologetic look at Bai Yan. "She's drunk. I really didn't expect her to disrupt the celebration like this. I'm truly sorry. I'll order Lu Yifei to take her home now."
With that, Ji Chen swept his gaze at Lu Yifei.
Lu Yifei understood Ji Chen's intention, and he got ready to retrieve Ji Xiaonian.
Unexpectedly, however, he was suddenly held back by the cold tone of someone. "Stop."
Lu Yifei paused his steps and turned around to look at the source of the voice.
All he saw, however, was Bai Yan glaring at him with eyes as sharp as daggers. While exuding a menacingly cold aura, Bai Yan ordered, "Get lost."
Lu Yifei was slightly surprised and gave a pleading look towards Ji Chen.
Ji Chen gently bit his lower lip as he turned to look at Bai Yan. "I can't leave yet, so is there anything wrong with having him take Xiaonian home?"
Ji Chen's words had fallen on deaf ears as Bai Yan had his sights locked onto the little girl in a drunken haze.
While she waved the shattered wine glass in her hand, Ji Xiaonian had also caused an uproar by crying out, "Brother Yan! I want Brother Yan to kiss me! Kiss me and I'll stand back up! Brother Yan…"
The way that she was acting was so relaxed that the people around her were beginning to gossip about her.
"That girl is shameless. I can't believe that she would attempt to seduce our CEO in public."
"Exactly, isn't she way too brave?"
"What do you guys know? She's President Ji's sister."
"Is she really President Ji's sister? She doesn't even look the part. I can't sense a single ounce of elegance from her."
"Exactly, I can tell that …"
"Don't you guys know when to stop? If you've already had your fill of food and have nothing else to do, then please go home."
The one thing that Ji Chen absolutely despised was when others spoke behind his sister's back. In a fit of rage, he glared at the employees present on the scene and mercilessly criticized them, "Do any of you have the right to spout such nonsense? If not, get the hell out of my sight."
Upon hearing those words, the surrounding staff immediately zipped their mouths and dispersed with ashen faces.
Once he had made sure that everyone was dispersed, Ji Chen retracted his glare. To his surprise, however, the usually proud Bai Yan, who had never allowed women near him, was now crouching in front of his sister.
"Hand me the thing in your hand."
Bai Yan was bent over elegantly and had extended his long limbs to ask for the shattered glass in Ji Xiaonian's hand.
He dared not grab it from her, as he did not want to take a beating should he accidentally harm her.
"No. Are you Brother Yan? I'll only stand back up if Brother Yan kisses me," Ji Xiaonian pouted, forming a childish look that was, in equal parts, cute and innocent.
Bai Yan was unsure whether to laugh or cry at the little girl's dumb expression.
However, as they were currently located on company premises, it was not an appropriate location to mess around.
After a brief moment of silence, Bai Yan then nodded his head. "Yes, it is I, Bai Yan. As long as you'll get rid of the item in your hand, I'll do anything you wish."
'Aside from the seduction that you attempted that night, was there ever a time where I rejected your wishes?'
"Really? Are you REALLY Brother Yan?"
All Ji Xiaonian could see was a blurry figure, and within her muddled mind, she was completely clueless about what she was doing.
Fortunately, she was still able to understand words. As such, she tossed the shard away in her hand and lunged towards Bai Yan.
Unprepared for her sudden actions, Bai Yan had subconsciously leaned back when she lunged at him. By the time he had returned to his senses, the little girl had already wrapped her arms around Bai Yan's neck, and her little head was perched on his shoulder as she caressed his neck and complained like a little child.
"Brother Yan! Niannian wants your hug. Can you not leave Niannian, Brother Yan? Brother Yan, Niannian's chest hurts so, so much. Is Niannian sick? Is Niannian going to die?"
For some reason, Ji Xiaonian had suddenly recalled the scene where Bai Yan had ridiculed her within the Bai Residence.
The more she thought about it, the worse she felt.
When she felt bad, she would begin to cry.
As such, with her arms still wrapped around the man's neck, her snot and tears began to run down her face as she cried out, "Boohoo… Brother Yan, why don't you like me? Where did I go wrong? Just tell me, I can change! Brother Yan…"
Bai Yan could hear her voice growing hoarse, and when he saw the huge droplets of tears pouring from her eyes, for some reason, his chest felt as heavy as a boulder.
It was an especially uncomfortable feeling.
With her heavy intoxication in mind, Bai Yan had determined that she was no longer fit to walk. As a result, he ignored the gazes of the surrounding people, and with one hand on Ji Xiaonian's hips, and another on her little butt, he hoisted her up.
Moreover, the position that he was carrying her was abnormally suggestive, enough to make people hold their breaths.
"Let me handle her instead. Since you don't like this little girl, you shouldn't trouble yourself with her."
Seeing that Bai Yan had lifted his little sister, Ji Chen then pretended to reclaim her.
Unexpectedly, however, Bai Yan shot a glance at him, and in a clear voice, he stated, "I'll leave the party to you. I'll be sending her home."
"Huh?"
Ji Chen flinched slightly. By the time he had returned to his senses, all he could do was stare wide-eyed at the man that had explicitly stated that he did not like his sister as he took her away.
He was speechless.
Ji Chen was well and truly impressed at Bai Yan's ability to tell such convincing lies.
…
After carrying the drunken mess that was Ji Xiaonian out of the office, Bai Yan then approached his ride that was parked near the entrance. After digging out his remote and opening the vehicle's doors, he was prepared to place the little brat onto the passenger seat.
To his surprise, however, the little girl had a bear's grip on his neck and refused to budge.
She gently coaxed her, "Niannian, please let go of my neck. I'm going to take you home."
Ji Xiaonian pouted while clinging onto his neck, "No! Niannian will not let go! If I do, Brother Yan will fly away and leave me behind! Niannian refuses to let go!"
"How can I bring you home if you don't release your grip? Be a good girl, okay? I promise I won't fly away."
'Plus, I don't even have the ability to fly. This girl, she's already a grown woman, yet she still acts like a child. How can she be so clingy?'
"I don't wanna! Niannian doesn't want to let go! Boohoo… I won't let go! Niannian will continue hugging Brother Yan like this!"
As if she was afraid of being abandoned, the intoxicated and fuzzy-minded little girl, who was still clinging to Bai Yan's neck, began to cry again.
Bai Yan was speechless, and since he was unable to pull her off from him, he was forced to place her in the driver's seat.
He placed her slender body onto his lap and her head onto his chest. To prevent any law-breaking and to prevent her from moving around randomly, he pulled down the safety belt and secured her in place.
With that, he started up his engine and drove off.
Death by a thousand cuts here does not refer to the actual English idiom, but rather, it is referring to the actual torture method employed in Imperial China in the metaphorical sense
