29 Businessman? Alyx?

"So are there any restrictions on who can do business here?" Alyx thought of earning some CP as a side business.

*In Paradise, you can do many things and anything is allowed as long as there is a market for it. Users provide various services based on demand. The best advantage of Paradise is the instant transmission, as you can go to any location which you have access to so there is a huge market with demand for almost everything.* Ax explained.

"Can I go to all Aon stations in Paradise or is there a limit?" Alyx asked.

*As I mentioned earlier Paradise is divided into layers and right now we are in the bottom most layer. Travel between stations is only allowed to users of second layer.* Ax said with an evil grin.

It was the first time Alyx seeing Ax's expression and was unable to make sense of it.

"What does that expression supposed to mean?"

*I'm just trying to create a suspense. Am I using the expressions correctly?* Ax once again showed the same grin.

"Ok, tell me what you are hiding." Alyx was still unable to adapt to Ax showing expressions.

*Since you are an Aon you directly get access to the second layer. But what you are thinking is already being implemented by some low level Aons and some other civilizations. It a competitive field with huge entry barrier. So forget it.* Ax said.

'I can only give up thoughts of becoming a merchant, even if I can't transport physical items, I thought of just outsourcing it and concentrate mainly on intellectual property.' Alyx thought. Since the universe is so vast there is definitely going to be a huge disparity in development across the universe and he assumed that he can sell technology for an exorbitant price in some backward areas.

Ax read Alyx's thoughts and immediately replied, *You can't do that it is illegal. Only you can use the material you bought. Even if you want to sell open source material those who are able to enter here have already got access to it.*

Alyx can only give up as he got no talent in business.

"Let's move everyone is giving us weird looks." Alyx noticed how he was standing out from others.

Alyx moved on to one of the shops to see how payments and services are in Paradise.

[Hello Mr. Alyx. How can I help you?] A voice rang inside the shop as soon as he entered and a hologram of a floating orb appeared ahead of him.

Before Alyx could answer Ax answered, *Looks like this is a low end shop which is fully automated and the owner is not present at the moment.*

'How did it know my name?'

*Your identity is kept as visible if you want you can keep it private.*

Alyx understood and asked the hologram, "What services are available here?"

[We are a mercenary company and can provide you with a range of options to choose from based on your needs and we also have storehouses on many major planets, just for ****PP. If you like I can even take you on a virtual tour of the locations. We are very reputable in MBN and have an exemplary track record…]

Once the hologram started talking it kept on going for a long time. Unable to bear with it Alyx left the shop even as the hologram kept chasing. After leaving the shop it stopped following. Alyx got the gist of it but it was still trying to make him buy their services.

"Looks like you even encounter aggressive selling in paradise." Alyx laughed. "Ax what is that new currency I'm looking there is it a paradise thing or is it something else."

*PP or Paradise points are the currency used in Paradise and is used as standard currency for transactions here. It is regulated by the Aons and introduced to ease transactions in Paradise, otherwise it is going to be chaotic with different currencies of different civilizations.* Ax explained it to Alyx.

"So does no one use CP then how are we going to buy anything. Can it be exchanged?"

*Yes you can but I recommend against it. Converting CP to PP is easy but you need much more PP depending on the demand to buy one CP.*

"What? They are just ripping us off." Alyx exclaimed at this blatant robbery by looking at the exchange rates in one of the shop.

*No, transactions from second level of Paradise takes place in CP so there is a huge demand for it. PP is just for the common people of first level.*

Later Alyx went to different shops to get a better feel of the market.

Here members of many civilizations are gathered and they have been able to realize in Paradise what they were unable to realize in reality.*

Alyx went to his personal space as he was overwhelmed by the amount of information and mentally exhausted from going through all those shops and alley ways. The entire area seemed to be created by some mad builder to confuse people. He would have been lost in the real world but he instantly returned to his personal space.

"Let's go to the second level." Alyx hoped at least the second level would be relaxing.

*Ha ha, I thought you said you would enjoy it. You did not see truly chaotic places. Since Paradise is a simulation with free rein to the users, they create all kinds of structure as long as they buy the plot and in the course of time it turned into such a chaotic place.*

"Shut it." Alyx said in an annoyed way. "You were cuter when you were just a voice."
