39 First Modification

Alyx has started the experiment on the loony by first making it unconscious using anesthetics and putting it into a cylindrical container filled with various chemicals and nanobots which would play a major role during modification. Loony did not suspect anything and was easily put to sleep. When it was inserted in the cylinder all its vitals are monitored with the help of the nanobots and all its physiological needs like breathing and nutrition are also taken care by them.

Aons method of modification is created after studying the knowledge from many other civilizations and perfected over a long period of time by taking the best of other methods. Many civilizations have practiced one or other form of manipulation for many reasons like to increase their chances of survival, to adapt to changes in their home planet, for war and many other reasons as this is not a field which can be limited to only one application. This is also one of the reason for Alyx to this field as once he is proficient to a certain degree he can gain huge amounts of CP if he accepts requests from the second level of Paradise. It is not an easy field to develop due to the many variables involved and it is much more difficult than what is achieved by scientists on Earth because if ether interfering and interacting with the living organisms. The presence of ether makes it very difficult to proceed in this field as one requires a great understanding on these interactions between ether and matter.

Alyx began the experiment by first creating a type of organism with functions similar to a virus. There are many ways mentioned in the books bought by Alyx to overcome the effect of ether but Alyx chose this due to its simplicity as compared to others. One of the effect of ether is that it restores the modification done to some part of creature this is because the other cells or part of the creature would react with ether and create a field to restore the modified cell or part. To overcome this the simplest way is to disturb this field across the entire body by modifying all parts at the same time. Once the part is completely formed a balance is achieved between these fields and overtime they slowly integrate and return to normal. The drawback of this method is that precise modification cannot be achieved as the modified part will influence the body in unintended ways which may even lead to death but Alyx being a beginner can only try this method.

Alyx with Ax's assistance created the virus by following the directions in the books and inserted it into the loony. The process usually takes a long time but Alyx was able to speed up the process in Paradise by increasing speed of time in container. With the introduction of a foreign entity the body of loony started to spasm after some time but with the cooperation of nanobots its vitals were regulated and its life was protected. The virus started multiplying inside the body of loony by using the cells as reproduction centers and in the process also modifying them but the cells rather than destroying them by creating additional organelles inside the cell. These organelles were not targeted by the filed generated as they did not modify the creature in any way and are just treated as foreign bodies which would be slowly removed by the cells natural process.

This process continued for some time and once the levels of the virus reached sufficient levels the nanobots injected a special compound by synthesizing it from the available chemicals. This compound acted as an activating agent and the viruses instead of reproducing started to fuse with the cells organelles using the organelles created earlier and in a unique way as coded into them by Alyx.

If one looked at the loony now they would notice the entire body of the loony suddenly changing from in bizarre ways due to this. The nanobots are also at work in full force to stabilize the vitals. The modification introduced by Alyx was to create scales on its body like a reptile and also give it a huge tail. With the nutrition present in the fluid all the required materials are present and the cells of the creature started producing the scales and growing a tail.

Seeing this Alyx was very happy and excited as he was tensed about the outcome of his first experiment. The process continued for some time and all the hairs turned into scales and tail as big as its bods can also be seen. After the changes ere complete the nanobots destroyed the components of the virus and restored the cells to their prior state, only the cells of the skin and tail are different from the remaining body but all cells contained the organelles needed to maintain the scales and tail. These were no longer treated as foreign material but a part of the body.

The experiment was not yet concluded as there are many more tests needed to be done to ensure that the changes are not temporary and check their stability. Alyx was relaxed with his success and called it a day, he wanted to celebrate it by eating something luxurious.

Alyx never created any special food when he was on MBN as he had no need to eat and only ate as a habit, so he just made some quick food based on recipes he found on Aon web but today he thought of recreating a pizza which he loved back on earth very much. All the items needed were ordered online by him he could find replacements for the ingredients with the help of Ax. As Ax had access to his memories he was able to find suitable replacements by comparing the taste with the Aon database. Although the appearance were different but the taste and texture of the ingredients is similar. By the time Alyx completed preparing it looked very different from a pizza on earth because of the various colors of the ingredients. Alyx braved himself to taste it with Ax's reassurance and to his surprise found it even more delicious, he did not know whether it is due to the ingredients or because of his longing but he enjoyed it to his heart's content.
