2 2. Promotion

Previously:

"You're the new CEO?"

"Yes I am, he looks at her name tag, Ms. Perez."

I'm an idiot, Kourtney thought.

"So let me just straighten this up; I was totally joking about I called you Mr. Rich guy. I mean I think I just forgot to have my hot chocolate today, " Kourtney said while trying to lighten the mood by letting out a chuckle.

"I don't know if you're apologizing or making something up so I don't give you a consequence for your actions."

"The first one, I'd never lie to my boss."

"Okay so let's make a deal, I'll forgive you and you forgive me."

"Why would you need to forgive me?"

"You almost ran me over! I could sue you for that you know."

"You crossed on a green light," he said in the most monotonous voice.

"Well, you should've watched where you were going, don't think I didn't see you texting and driving."

"H-how did you know I was texting and driving?" He said as his face turned red.

"I didn't, but now I do," she said with a smile.

"Ms. Perez, I think we've done enough talking. You should go back to work, stay an extra 15 minutes later today I have something to discuss with you," he said after he cleared his throat.

"Not yet. I didn't get your name."

"I'm Jack Faye."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Faye," she said as she made her way out.

All Jack could think about was how feisty the woman he was standing in front of was. From head to toes she was gorgeous. On the other hand, Kourtney was thinking about how rude and boring her new boss was, but she had to admit he was kind of cute when he started to get flushed.

After Kourtney's shift was over, she stayed the extra 15 minutes like Mr. Faye had told her. She waited 5 minutes until he came up to her.

"I'm going to promote you," he said with a smile on his face, that showed off her perfect smile.

"Oh my gosh, are you serious? Wait a minute, why?"

"You seem as if you'd be better off as my secretary than a marketing manager. I'm only 24 but I know how to make something better."

"Thank you so much, Mr. Faye! I promise to have my desk and everything set by tomorrow morning."

"Excellent. I'll be leaving now, bye."

"Bye."

After Kourtney had packed up all her stuff she went straight home to be greeted by her two best friends since middle school, Shalissa and Liam.

"SURPRISE!" Shouted Liam and Shalissa.

"Oh my gosh! Liam, you're back!" She said while running to give him a big hug.

"He came back yesterday from the military and called me that he wanted to surprise you,"Shalissa said.

"Aww, you're so sweet," Kourtney said.

After catching up with each other over a few drinks, Kourtney started telling her friends about her new CEO.

"He's the weirdest and cutest person I've ever met."
