The weather outside was nice today in Hawaii. As expected, tourists were already arriving for their holiday vacations. In just a span of a few days, resorts and beaches are now are now being fully booked by guests from different parts of the world! It is usually at this season where the place becomes crowded and populated. Fortunately for Park Haneul, his one month vacation enabled him to reserve the best room with a majestic view of the blue sea.
He leaned against the rails on the deck, taking in the beautiful and refreshing view of the glistening waters. The warm sun rays felt good on his skin together with the cool wind that fanned his face. Apparently, his hair was now messily disheveled but he couldn't care less. He knew that no one would see him anyway.
Looking around, there were almost no people walking by the vicinity. He was staying in one of the most expensive suites in the resort so this place was a bit secluded and he rarely had neighbors moving in the rooms next to his. Regardless, he didn't mind the solitary atmosphere. In fact, he even enjoyed it as he was able to peacefully unwind in the quiet area.
After a while, the doorbell rang, suddenly disrupting the relaxing moment Haneul was having. Upon stealing one last glance at the scenic view, he sighed before finally turning to his heel to check on the person at his doorstep.
"Good morning, Mr. Park! We hope you slept well. Where would you like us to serve your breakfast?" A Hawaiian native asked with a toothy smile. Two men stood behind the Hawaiian native with trays on hand, both were grinning widely too.
Haneul scratched the back of his head. Forcing an awkward smile, he spoke. "Uh... please just place them on the dining table." He instructed before opening the door wide enough for them to enter. They neatly placed the meals on the dining table and arranged it along with the utensils. One by one they began uncovering the warm food and soon after, the wonderful aroma spread across the room.
"If there's anything else you need, Mr. Park, please don't hesitate to contact our services." The servant said. "Please enjoy your meal!" He enthusiastically cheered before leaving the room with the other two employees.
Haneul snorted as soon as the men were gone. He still couldn't get used to how cheerful and friendly the employees are in this resort. They're very accommodating and polite too that's why he often gives them generous tips. Smelling the delicious scent of the newly served food, his stomach began to grumble. He didn't realize that he was really hungry until he was surprised to see himself finish everything that was served to him. Good place, delicious food and a killer view... there's practically nothing else he could've asked for!
A little while later, Haneul's phone rang. He wasn't usually taking calls right now in order to fully enjoy his vacation. However, curious as he was, he still went to see who the caller was. Not that he had the intention of answering it anyway.
Looking at the phone's screen, his eyes went wide when he saw that it was his father calling. Haneul didn't think twice as he immediately answered the call. "Hello? Father?" He asked.
"G**d*** it! Why aren't you answering?!" His father angrily exclaimed through the phone. "Just how long are you planning to slack off of work?! Huh?! You even had the balls to go on some f****** vacation for a month?! Do you think this is a child's play?!"
Haneul distanced his ear from the phone only to turn the speaker on. "I only have a week and a half left, don't I? Besides, I've already finished my work load before I even went to this vacation. Can't I have a break?" He replied.
"Why you..." His father trailed off with frustration evident in his voice. Haneul walked back to the balcony, placed his phone on the table and comfortably sat on the hammock. Placing his hands on his nape, he closed his eyes, feeling the serene environment around him. There was no way he's going to let his father stress him out, especially not now that his vacation wasn't over yet.
Haneul heard his father sigh on the other line. "Alright." His father said. His tone was deep and firm "Stay there for another week and a half. Just make sure to get your a** back to work soon." He conditioned.
Still with his eyes closed, a smirk danced on Haneul's lips. "Deal! I'll get our company more investors faster than you can say 'bingo'!" He confidently agreed.
As the only heir to their family company, it was normal for Haneul to be pressured by his parents. It would only be a matter of time when his father passes down all his responsibilities to him but before that happens, Haneul first wants to enjoy his life. To him, being a CEO was boring! To be trapped in a dull office like that will be the death of him. But of course, he didn't want to disappoint his parents so when his father assigned him to their satellite in Los Angeles, he didn't make a move to disagree.
He handled the business very well there. He was able to lead the company effortlessly that it made his parents sigh in relief to know that their child still had potential to inherit the business. He proved himself so much already! Which is why Haneul was irked that his father was nagging him right now.
Unexpectedly, his father chuckled through the phone before continuing. "Don't tell me you're actually thinking that I'll send you back to Los Angeles." He scoffed.
With this, Haneul abruptly sat up straight. His eyes were wide as he turned to glance at his phone. "What? What are you talking about? What do you mean?" He said in a hurry.
His father could tell that his statement definitely got Haneul's attention. Hence, the old man couldn't help it but laugh once more. "It's about time that you help out in our main office, son. After your vacation, make sure to get your stupid a** back here in South Korea." He said and soon after, the line went dead.
